Linda, thank you. I have been playing with watercolours for just a few months and have watched untold numbers of youtubers. This tutorial is the first one that has persuaded me to slow down, not to rush into next bit before allowing drying time, and it's also the my first painting that I haven't hurriedly stuffed in a drawer! I'm really pleased with how easy it was to follow along with you and produce something I'm proud to leave out on display. Many thanks.

Hey Linda, this was amazing, I am only just starting out with watercolour and really loved how well made your video was, two things I realize this is from one year ago and someone else might have given you this idea, instead of all that puffing with a straw they do make an artist's puffer but they are an added expense, my friend told me she uses a kids bath toy, one with the hole underneath so you can puff any way you want to and not risk getting lightheaded, also a group of jellyfish is called a Bloom, a Smack, a Brood, a Shoal or a Fluther (yes I Googled it) Thank You again I look forward to watching more of your video's, Wendy from the U.K xXx

This was one of the most inspiring tutorials I’ve ever watched and I’ve watched 100’s….all the different techniques went together perfectly for this underwater jellyfish painting!! @@lindabrownartist had been wondering too. I used paint we call "Deckweiß" in German, which h comes with the usual school water colors, that are more like gauche. The Deckweiß comes in a tube and is more pasty. From it's smell, I guess it's some kind of water soluable acrylic paint. Thanks, once again, for this splendid tutorial.

I must try this! As you were working on the puddles of water, I was thinking how much easier it is for artists to get inspiration from KZread these days vs in the pre-digital era. I guess before internet could become known as the modern dark ages ;)

I followed your instructions and it turned out very nice. I did struggle quite a while with the part, where you are adding wet color after brushing off the rock salt, without reactivating the lower layers. It Loks so easy when you do it, but I really really really struggle with this step. 😮

You have to work quickly, and lightly so as not to activate the underneath layers 😀

Question: Is it possable to do the whole painting in acrylic paint,with using all the water that you use?I have been using the already made up paint from walmart.Tell me what you think.Jim Brandt
@lindabrownartist
Жыл бұрын
Definitely, I have painted quite a few canvases using acrylic and this theme. I have had jellyfish as the subject, and also dragonflies with transparent wings. However, adding lots of water to acrylic, reduces the fastness of the medium, making the paint unstable. You will need to apply a few coats of varnish to protect the artwork. I love varnish on acrylic, it definitely brings out the colours. I use a Matt varnish but of course any could be used, personal choice ⭐️

@@avanellehansen4525 it will reconstitute but takes a bit more time than watercolour, I use white gouache on my palette, you just need to blend well with the water.
What paper, Linda? 400lb?

We work in gsm here in Australia, I used 300gsm in the video. 300lbs is 640gsm I believe so it’s very heavy paper and would work perfectly.
