He worked at a record store back in 1979- 80. He would always hook me up with the bootlegs. He is sweet, kind and honest. I voted for him when he ran against Diane Fienstein when he was still working at the store (Venus Records? Aquarius Record Shop?). I told him that and he was genuinely touched. And he threw in this Patti Smith bootleg for free on top of the other records I got that day.

@@lastnamefirst4035 he got enough votes to force a runoff, but he came in third overall (around 6,500 votes I believe?), so he wasn’t in the second round of voting. Feinstein got re-elected. Still, he came in third out of ten candidates. Not bad for a punk rocker in the late 70s/early 80s. I’d certainly vote for him! ✌🏻🇺🇸

I worked at the Epicenter Zone in San Francisco in the early '90s and Jello was there almost every day I was there. I can attest he was one of the major buyers, but his tastes were eclectic and enjoyed talking about these oddball records he had. Since I also worked at a radio station (KZSU) at a time, I'd experienced my fair share of weird stuff and could trade stories with him reasonably well. This video brought back those memories, thanks.

Thank you for this awesome presentation. Jello is absolutely magical and brilliant. I am just revisiting him now. He was formative in shaping me when I was younger, and for some dumb reason he has been on the back-burner of my mind. I've forgotten how awesomely brilliant he is. I didn't realise his musical tastes were so wide, and as my own tastes get wider, I appreciate the range of things he manages to include on his records -- when I hear his records now, I hear the imprints of his wide ranging tastes -- and it is really brilliant how he encourages the people he plays with to include these diverse influences as well as their own. Hearing him discuss this stuff was so interesting. Cheers.

I find it a little strange that he talks about Al Jourgensen as "the guy from Ministry" (he could at least mention his name). I mean, they have known each other for ages, Jello was on stage with Ministry in their early career and they did 4 albums as LARD. Also, Al has a lot of others projects just like Jello. Thanks for this! I really enjoyed his chapter in Re:search books "Incredibly Strange Music" (seen on the corner of his bed at 6:19 in this video)- where he shares some strange stuff in his record collection. Similar to this, he brings up Heino and that 1 Mrs. Miller LP that I've never found - but have the others ;) Cheers! *I used to play Trout Mask Replica in the record store I worked at to get people I didn't like - to leave. Or to clear the store near closing time on the weekends so we could get out of there on time and go out on the town.

The only record I ever bought from hearing a radio commercial was 'Here Come the Warm Jets' by Brian Eno. I thought there was something wrong with it and tried to take it back to the store. Nearly fifty years later . . . Still one of my favourites

BOC was my 1st concert, late 70's, Head East opened(tickets cost 8 bucks)... By the early 80's I saw my 1st Dead Kennedy's show, Stickmen With Ray Guns opened. Saw R.E.M in a nightclub for 3bucks cover charge. Awesome concerts back in the day.

I am not even a huge fan of JB and his sneery, provocation for the sake of the provocation, but parts 1 and 2 of this are excellent, and make me miss a good, fallen friend who was a massive vinyl junkie of not dissimilar music tastes and time frame. really nicely done Fuse team

Love Jello. That Hino dude looked like Andrew Loog Oldham on the Mother’s Day album. Thanks for the laughs Jello. Saw the D Ks in Montreal in the early 80s. Amazing show. Had an awful lot of musical diversity compared the the other California hard core bands I listened to as well. Always a strong message with that witty Jello sarcasm. Cheers from Montreal.

in my house we always had music playing, my mom would go out and buy 45 records, if my momlike it from the radio she would go out and buy it. back in the 60"s, we had over 500 45 records at one time.
