He worked at a record store back in 1979- 80. He would always hook me up with the bootlegs. He is sweet, kind and honest. I voted for him when he ran against Diane Fienstein when he was still working at the store (Venus Records? Aquarius Record Shop?). I told him that and he was genuinely touched. And he threw in this Patti Smith bootleg for free on top of the other records I got that day.

Still, he came in third out of ten candidates. Not bad for a punk rocker in the late 70s/early 80s. I’d certainly vote for him! ✌🏻🇺🇸

I worked at the Epicenter Zone in San Francisco in the early '90s and Jello was there almost every day I was there. I can attest he was one of the major buyers, but his tastes were eclectic and enjoyed talking about these oddball records he had. Since I also worked at a radio station (KZSU) at a time, I'd experienced my fair share of weird stuff and could trade stories with him reasonably well. This video brought back those memories, thanks.
"Nosferatu Heino. Heino in space." I'm crying with laughter over here. I could listen to Jello talk about Heino for hours.

More punkers PLEASE. Punk has such a great record culture too ya know!
I could be listening him talking about different records all day long.. very interesting, fun and fascinating.
The way he grew into music reminds me a lot of myself. I also used to listen to and tape off of the radio, until I got to a pawn shop at around 12 years old and found Iron Maiden's Live After Death album. I also bought it on a hunch after seeing Eddie on the cover.

I've never been a punk music person but DK and Jello are awesome 👌.
You are assuming Jello cares if people like him or not, rememer this is an interview with his opinions. As a "punk rocker" the odds of him caring what anyone says or thinks is minimal. He does state something that should be remembered, when you collect music, be passionate and love what you select, music is the voice of the generations, wha6 does your collection say about you ?

Thank you for this awesome presentation. Jello is absolutely magical and brilliant. I am just revisiting him now. He was formative in shaping me when I was younger, and for some dumb reason he has been on the back-burner of my mind. I've forgotten how awesomely brilliant he is. I didn't realise his musical tastes were so wide, and as my own tastes get wider, I appreciate the range of things he manages to include on his records -- when I hear his records now, I hear the imprints of his wide ranging tastes -- and it is really brilliant how he encourages the people he plays with to include these diverse influences as well as their own. Hearing him discuss this stuff was so interesting. Cheers.
Cool listening to Jello’s first-record-bought experience and remembering that mine was DK’s Frankenchrist in ‘90 on a hunch, enter punk in my life.

And that Mr.Biafra mention the bands that he couldn`t stand is just fun, we all got those... I find it a little strange that he talks about Al Jourgensen as "the guy from Ministry" (he could at least mention his name). I mean, they have known each other for ages, Jello was on stage with Ministry in their early career and they did 4 albums as LARD. Also, Al has a lot of others projects just like Jello.
