" A rose by any other name is still a rose." God knows the heart of the person using the name of Jehovah, and has love for that person. Someday in paradise, God, Yahweh, Jehovah may clarify the pronunciation for everyone.

While I agree with you that the divine name has no place in the text of the NT absent textual evidence (which as yet does not exist) but I have to disagree regarding at least Jesus’ use of the divine name. The Mishnah specifically makes the charge (albeit from the opposition’s perspective) that Jesus used the divine name and that this was the source of his “magical power”.

Watchtower owns the publishing rights to "The Bible in Living English" by Steven T. Byington. ("PUBLISHERS WATCHTOWER BIBLE AND TRACT SOCIETY OF NEW YORK, INC") Here is what it says in the Translator's Preface of that Bible, p.7: "As to the Old Testament name of God, certainly the spelling and pronunciation "Jehovah" were originally a blunder." The definition of "blunder": "a stupid or careless mistake." Note that *both* the spelling *and* pronunciation "Jehovah" are a stupid mistake, yet WT stands by the entirely fictitious name Jehovah as the truth.

The new world bible wasn't written by Jehovah witness. It was written for them, I read some of a copyright court case about this. A man from Rokbey Tasmania, who had a family link to the company that wrote the new world translation. He took watchtower to court, because of the changes they made in the 2013 updated version. Watchtower won the case, as they said as evidence, when watchtower were ( gifted) the NWT, they also received the copyright. So this gave them the right to legally make changes. This is most probably why, watchtower have never said before, why they haven't named the writers names... This all happened, around 7yrs ago.

According to the Watchtower, (w60 8/1 pp 453-455) God's name never was, nor ever will be Jehovah. They chose that name randomly since they felt it was popular for a time after Raymond Martini, a 13th-century Dominican friar invented the name in the 13th century. Quoting the Watchtower -"The New World Bible Translation Committee stated: “While inclining to view the pronunciation ‘Yah·wehʹ” as the more correct way, we have retained the form ‘Jehovah’ because of people’s familiarity with it since the 14th century."

How many of us address our earthly Fathers (or Mothers) by their Christian name? Imagine a boy or girl coming down to breakfast and saying “Morning Fred” or “Morning Janet” to their Mom and Dad. Most people would find that distasteful, even offensive and disrespectful. How much more disrespectful it would be to use God’s name in such a way (especially repeatedly as J.W’s do). That’s why Jesus taught his “witnesses” (Acts 1:8) or followers to use the address: “Father”

But we let OTHERS know what our fathers name is so they can use it, even if we only call him Dad or Father. Now is not the time to know the father's name. He allowed a few letters to remain, to show us he is real. But his son has a very important job to do. The father is allowing his son to save mankind with as little interference as possible. And under heaven, there is only ONE name that can save us. ALL authority has been handed to him. I think we will learn the FATHERS' name in due time. (Ecclesiastes 3. There is a time for everything.) That's how I see it.

If knowing God's name was tantamount to your salvation then Jesus would have absolutely used it when he taught his disciples how to pray as in Matt 6:9. Instead Jesus used "Father" because He is the father of creation. Also, "in the name of" is different to the actual name. Example, "In the name of the holy spirit". What is the name of the holy spirit? There isn't a name. In the "name of" means, in the authority of.

Even a Christian cannot brush aside the worship of Jehovah as God. In Revelation 1:5 the Son of God called himself "Jesus Christ, 'The Faithful Witness.'" When on earth as a man he was a Jew, an Israelite, to whose nation the words of Isaiah 43:10 were written: "'You are my witnesses, 'is the utterance of Jehovah, 'even my servant whom I have chosen.'" Jesus demonstrated that he was a faithful and true witness of Jehovah God. His genuine disciples today must be the same of witnesses, Jehovah's.

However, in one of Joels videos he got all exited when he visited an Ancient Egyptian site containg a Stele dated around 3,400 years old, carved into which was the "Wandering Nomads, (Israelites) , that Worship the God "Yahweh", (Jehovah), this was accompanied by the four symbols that represent the tetragrammaton, found in the original scrolls.! Further evidennce can be found on the "Moabite Stone", held in the Louvre Museum, Paris, France. This mentions. "Israel, YAHWEH, and the house of David". The WT have got it all wrong (again) they love to quote encyclopaedias when it suits them, but here is what they omitted from these publications. These Encyclopaedias describe Jehovah in the following ways “Misread as Jehovah” ” Erroneous Pronunciation “ “Artificial Name” “A Mispronunciation” "This Pronunciation Is Grammatically Impossible” “That Such a Word Never Existed” the vowels of which were written under the consonants of ‘Yahweh.’ In the Middle Ages and later, the vowels of one word with the consonants of the other were MISREAD AS JEHOVAH” (The Collegiate Encyclopedia, vol. 9, p. 580). “Jehovah, an ERRONEOUS PRONUNCIATION of the name of the God of Israel in the Bible, due to pronouncing the vowels of the term ‘Adonay,’ the marginal Masoretic reading with the consonants of the text-reading ‘Yahweh,’ ... ‘Jehovah’ can be traced to the early Middle Ages and until lately was said to have been invented by Peter Gallatin (1518), confessor of Pope Leo X. Recent writers, however, trace it to an earlier date; it is found in Raymond Martin’s Pugeo Fidei (1270)” (Encyclopedia Americana, vol. 16, p. 8.). Thus the ARTIFICIAL NAME Jehovah (YeHoWaH) came into being” (Encyclopaedia Britannica, Yahweh, Micropedia, vol. 10). “Jehovah - ‘A MISPRONUNCIATION (introduced by Christian theologians, but almost entirely disregarded by the Jews) of the Hebrew “Yhwh,” the (ineffable) name of God (the Tetragrammaton or “Shem ha-Meforash”). THIS PRONUNCIATION IS GRAMMATICALLY IMPOSSIBLE;... (Jewish Encyclopedia, Emil G. Hirsch) YHWH; this was transliterated in the early versions as Jehovah. This form of the word became quite popular, but it should be REMEMBERED THAT SUCH A WORD NEVER EXISTED,” (The Encyclopedia of the Lutheran Church, “Yahweh,” Vol. N-Z, p. 2537).

The New Jerusalem Version of the bible which I use is the only bible that has the original YHWH in Hebrew wherever the tetragrammaton appears in the OT. That is being faithful to God. The indisputable fact remains that in the bible God did have a name "YHWH" ( the tetragrammaton) ( over 7000 times in fact) which WAS REMOVED by men and replaced with the title of LORD. And since Hebrew has no vowels, in English this becomes YAHWEH or more commonly as JEHOVAH. Did this name appear in the greek scripture ? It is not clear. But its not relevant to argument of whether God had a name- he clearly DID!!

Thank Christ we have the znew testament to tell us who was the deity of the Old testament. 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 ...Isaiah 40:3 is a future prophesy which was fulfilled by Joh the Baptist. Mark 1:3 and John 1:23 tells us who that deity was in the Old Testament. All the I am's, I and the Father are one, I come in my Father's name, Name above EVERY name,

You miss the point. Jehovah's Witnesses are not trying to prove that God's name is supposed to be said or pronounced any certain way. They are saying that the Tetragrammaton YHWH representing God's name should not be left out. The pronunciation is uncertain and varies from language to language as does other names such as Jesus, but that does not matter as long as it is consistent in the language you are using and correctly identifies the individual intended. Variations in different languages include: Cherokee: Yihowa Chin (Hakha) Zahova Chippewa: Jehovah Choctaw: Chihowa Chuukese: Jiowa Croatian: Jehova Dakota: Jehowa Dobu: Ieoba These are all different but they still represent the Tetragrammaton, or the name of the God of the bible, to the reader in their distinctive languages.

No where in the Bible did people expel demons by a man-made name Jehovah, they always used the name and authority of Jesus. Go check Strong's Concordance 1942 and 1943, in the Greek, and see what jah-HOVAH means. Iniquity, noisesome, mischief . . ! The name Jehovah was concocted by Raymundus Martini, a Spanish monk who inserted vowels from elohim and adonia into YeHoWaH which later became Jehovah.
