Well, they could always claim that they’re GOING out of business, but they just haven’t gone completely yet; technically that would be a “weasel” way to justify it, no more convoluted than the explanations that they’ve pushed for other distortions or ignoring context or semantics, etc. 😂

This is 100% spot on. My family started in the truth in 1963. Parents baptized in 1968. I was a child of the 1975 prediction. I was disassociated in 1973 for conduct. I left my parents home in 1975 at age 17. The scariest and most liberating year of my life. Never looked back. I was lucky. My mother never stopped talking to me. My father stopped talking to me for 10 years. They are both life long members. My mom passed away three years ago. She didn’t think she would ever die. She was told she would walk hand in hand with my father through Armageddon and into paradise here on earth.

I was disfellowshiped at age 14. In 1975 I was convinced that the world would end. My parents put me in a residential school because I had become unmanageable. I spent the last night of 1974 with my head covered laying in bed. When the morning of 1975 came & I was still alive, I decided that the"truth" was a lie. I am 63 years old & would never return to the "truth".

Your story is very touching. This is an excellent example of what this CULT does to peoples brains. What you did takes RAW courage, Good for you! ! ! Most Witnesses are not made of that sort of stuff HOW EVER; Jesus Christ clearly states, without this kind of courage you are not fit for the KINGDOM of GOD. . . Here's the really good news on this subject. The HOLY SPIRIT will come into your heart and give anyone who asks for this kind courage. The right STUFF ! ! ! ! :) :) :)

I was baptised into the WTBS in 1973 due to the hysteria this date of 1975 created among rank and file. Outstanding presentation. I would agree 100% with the scenarios presented.I lived then in Ireland and the elders cautioned me against getting married and having children and further education.I got married that year and had children shortly thereafter. I wasted my life in menial work and now at reirement age no pension. These men the GB bear full responsibility not only for the way my life turned out but also the millions of others.

I have no college or university degree. Just dead end jobs. I've noticed JWs and exJWs tend to have jobs in retail or hospitality industries bc no degree is required. Just an observation. I gave up on ever owning a home. We rent. Rent is outrageously high where we live. It's not right what this cult does to people! Making you feel like a criminal for wanting to provide for your family in a comfortable, easier, higher-paying way. It's ridiculous!

I was born in January 1989. Became involved with the witness in the mid 90s , I remember the teaching at the time being “this generation will not pass away” I remember being told I never need to do this or that or worry about getting a job , six or seven year old me believed what I was told . I stopped going , I still believed I just didn’t go much anymore , got a girlfriend and had a child unbearably young I was 14 at the my girlfriend 13 after that my focus and Priorities were my daughter. Over the years I’ve encountered witnesses a lot and I don’t really have a bad word to say about them . The problem I’ve had is the leadership , if you have done something wrong , gotten something wrong. You hold your hands up , you apologize and promise to do better going forward , well apparently that’s not applicable to the watchtower leadership , a group that is constantly challenging people on what they believe ( which I believe is inherently a good thing ) but are unable or unwilling to the same as far as their own beliefs are concerned when they are challenged . Better to have questions you can’t answer than answers you can’t question .

What an incredible piece of work. JT and Lady Cee-You both nailed it. I started studying in 1971, was baptized and pioneering within a year. By six months had already given up Xmas; birthdays and all the rest. I Forfeited my college tuition deposit so I could pioneer and went through my savings at that time to continue… I never went to college then. I Left my job that I had been working for two years and saving for college. I was 19 years old. Then, Started house cleaning to support myself at $3 an hour. Pioneered at 100 hours a month; did the 6 month study with people then dropped them if they did not progress as told. Taught my studies it was not the time to go to college nor to have a family but to pioneer. Had studies that quit school and pioneered and quit jobs to pioneer. I forgot about all of this until I saw your video. I stayed in until My mid 30’s after going to Gilead school and missionary work. Somehow I came out of the darkness in an odd way while praying for the strength to remain in, I was freed because I believe God got me out; and I found my way out. I have always loved god or Jehovah since I was a child. The departure increased my faith after awhile. At first I was lost as I had no one to talk to. There was no internet then. No one to confide in as a friend. Then I made a plan and went back to college. I got professional help as well. I realized I could not be bitter because I followed and trusted men. God said be fruitful be many and fill the earth. God said don’t put your trust in nobles nor men. I chose to study the Bible back then but ignore its most basic teachings as I was overcome by the JW influence and teachings on what one might call the “party line”. It sounded so good to me. But the price I paid was high. I believe they JWs, are all paying a high price for their belief system. It’s very devastating. I have been outside for a few decades now and have had many disillusions with things in life but life goes on. We are here for a short while like a mist and then disappearing, as it says in Ecclesiastes. We have to enjoy what we can in this life; be a good neighbor; be honest; fair; truthful and just have even scales, but at the same time, cautious as serpents. Enjoy your lives. God bless you both. You are truly ministers of the truth as I see it and for those who are loaded down, they can find refreshment for their souls in your critical thinking comments and documentaries. The load upon us is not heavy as JW would make it for us but is kindly and light. I just want to tell you that I believe you are doing the Lord’s work whether you know it or not! That is my personal opinion of course. I don’t know everything. I really don’t know much as much is secret to us all. But we do know what we can see and feel. Your good people and I know that!. Thanks

My mom always took the Watchtower when they came around and I would always read them. Later in 1990 when mother passed away, I was so hurt, devastated really, I embraced what I thought at the time was the truth. (i.e. JW;s) Later that same year, I got married, realized it was a big mistake and of course the JW's told me that I was in that marriage for life. Jehovah hates a divorce, so I tried to 'stick it out' My husband cheated on me 17 years later, the elders made me feel as if I was somewhat at fault. I got a clue and started reading everything I could get my hands on and finally read "Crises of Conscience". It resonated with me and I realized that JW's did NOT have "da truff" and so I made myself scarce at meetings, etc...Unfortunately, my sister is still stuck in Watchtower World, and although I suspect she knows I am no longer "One" I haven't been officially excommunicated, I seldom hear from her...unless she needs something...

I remember the magazines, books (especially the blue bomb, The Truth That Leads to Everlasting Life) and all the convention, assembly talks that kept telling us that 1975 would be the end. I even remember a circuit overseer giving a talk at the congregation during his visit. A pioneer sister married a brother who was in an iron lung. Her reasoning for marrying someone in this situation was because the new system was right around the corner and it would not be long before he could actually be a husband to her. So they can't lie to me and say it was "some" who went beyond what they were saying.

When you were discussing the word "probably" it reminded me of the scripture in Zeph. 2:3: "seek righteousness, seek meekness, PROBABLY you may be concealed in the day of Jehovah's anger". The Governing Body is like the god they worship: angry and full of empty promises.

So I remember a lot of things that went on, things that were taught and behaviors that were expected. I remember the day I found out that everything I had believed in was a lie. The anger, frustration and tears that followed changed me. I do not use their lingo let alone the name Jehovah. I really love the work that you’re doing. Thanks again

Lucky (oops forgot to avoid using forbidden worldly jargon 😆) for such ones that they had to endure only the discomfort of relatively short lived embarrassment; had they been part of Japanese culture, such loss of face due to public exposure to this and other even more serious allegations might have precipitated reactions having a more permanent effect on those in such an unenviable predicament; just saying. Such as perhaps even feeling honor bound to commit sepuku (suicide by self-inflicted disembowelment). I’m not shitting you 😂! Come to think on it, maybe some in that jurisdiction did so upon realizing that the official and erroneous stance on blood transfusions had needlessly caused the death of many, the duress caused by the shunning policy also provoked suicide attempts, some regrettably successful…

I do understand that Adam lived for some time before he sinned, god had Adam name every animal on the earth, that had to take some time to do.plus Eve was with Adam for some time before they sinned there's no record of it,for how long. but the scriptures show that he did lived longer than 930 years

Henry J. WILSON Peter was quoting from Psalms and if you read what is says in Psalms. Jehovah has no time frame. It had nothing to do with creative days but patience. Yes Adam spiritually died the day he sinned and his physical death did come before he reached 1000 yrs of age. Patience? The city of refuse comes to mind, imagine receiving your inheritance and you start building on it. You accidentally kill a worker and have to run to a city and cannot leave it till the high priest dies. Talking about patience ? I wonder how many times I would think when is he going to die? 5,10, 20 yrs ? I don't think that would be too loving of me to think so.

ExJW Critical Thinker hoodwinked and bamboozled is ABSOLUTELY right! It's so sad how - as I was coming up in the 1980s -we were told to pursue full-time service in lieu of secular education. JT, I couldn't help but smile when you mentioned J.C. Howard. I once had a part on the circuit assembly during one of his visits [1984]. What PISSED me off is the double standard after I discovered the GB sent some Bethelites to law school! How hypocritical is that? I defiantly pioneered AND went to law school for that reason and dared anybody to tell.me otherwise! That "do as I say not as I do" is NOT a golden rule Jesus taught! That's why I started analyzing EVERYTHING I was taught to believe because something is definitely wrong when men dictate your faith AND control your life with that "take care, be well fed" fake concern and callous demeanor. Great video and research! Thank you both!

I was also among those that said that it was ¨some brothers¨ that wrongly believed that the end was coming in 1975. Then when I learned the truth about 1975, I went through a very short period of denial and just attributed it to human imperfection. It didn´t take long to see that I was dealing with a Cult full of False Prophets.

I was raised as a Witness in the UK in the early late 50´s and we all believed the messages coming through the Watchtower and Awake., home bible study on Tuesday, Ministry school at the Kingdom Hall on Thursday evening and the talk and Watchtower study on Sunday. At that time Bro. Knorr was the figurehead and we all travelled to London to heat him and Bro. Franz preach. In the early 70´s a book was published, I cannot remember the full title but the word Babylon was prominent. At the book studies this book was promoted as a very significant portrayal of future events. I remember 1975 being singled out as the beginning of the end. I was baptised in the early 70´s, I realise now really just to please my mother. After opening my eyes and being dis-fellowshipped I still supported my mother in her deeply held beliefs. Upon her death, as the local congregation were collecting for refugees I asked if they want my mothers furniture, after we had removed personal effects. They agreed, but when I went back to the property all they had removed was my mothers collection of books, Yearbooks going to the early 50´s, books and pamphlets by C.T. Russell and all the JW books and Watchtowers she had saved over the decades. I know this is a long story but history was being denied and locked away. In one way I am grateful to the Witnesses that I am now totally aware of the grifters from the Roman Catholic Church down to the street side preachers.

She cut me off and told me she knew nothing about 1975. I know she was an older teenager during that time. Three strikes, you're OUT. But, if they can't understand a simple statement like, "NO MAN KNOWS THE DAY OR THE HOUR..." Each creative day is 7000 years? Talk about long days. But the Bible says, "The evening and the morning were the first day." Sounds to me like a 24 hour day. But then I don't know anything about *Bible chronology* .

Exactly, and if Jehovah supposedly knows the future in advance , why would he put men in charge of falsely leading an organization through false prophecies? He should’ve known what they would’ve done, so shouldn’t have made them leaders. Also, these “ some brothers “ are all the leadership. NO DOCTRINE comes from any rank and file, it all gets AGREED upon by ALL the leaders.

Magnum Opus 777 Here you go: “And if you say in your heart, 'How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?'- when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭18:21-22‬ ‭ESV‬‬ Verse 22 is really the full statement you need to see God’s measure of a false prophet, but I wanted to give you a little context from verse 21, as well. Also, I don’t have a New World “Translation”, so I don’t know how it’s worded there. Watchtower probably slipped “[unless that prophet gets new light]” in there somewhere. 😂 Hope this helps!

I know this video has been out a while, but I’m just now viewing it and had to comment. My mother (a die-hard JW to this day) told me she remembers being at a district convention in the early 70’s and the speaker told the audience that “all you mothers out there with little children on your laps, those children will never have to go to school in this system of things”. Well, I was sitting on her lap at the time. I’m now 53. And yet to this day she still believes Armageddon will be here “any day”. So sad.

JT and Lady C, just want to let you both know I think you guys are amazing. I’ve been out for 20 years. I was raised a JW from birth and was both a regular pioneer and MS. Somehow I’ve never run across your videos on YT until recently. I’ve been binge watching them because they are so riveting and informative, and your counter reasoning for so many of their beliefs and policies leave them without a leg to stand on. I really appreciate the work you do. Your videos are truly some of the best JW content on you tube I’ve ever seen. Your videos are so good, in my opinion, that no honest truth seeking JW can watch any of them and still believe it’s the “truth” in their heart. Keep doing what your doing as it definitely is having an impact and making a difference in many people’s lives. Wishing you all the best!

Fantastic video, Lady Cee and JT! ... when you said, " the time is short", that brought back memories!!! All the older ones would say that phrase, over and over, in the congregation I grew up in... and that was in the 80's, now I'll be turning 40 years old next year! ...how ironic that when I returned to the organization 3 years ago, I didn't hear anyone say that phrase. I think people can recognize when they are being hustled and bamboozled! I left and many others are leaving too. I believe in my heart , that the ones who have decided to stay after hearing the errors and lies of the organization are doing it for selfish reasons. The organization is telling them what they want to hear, a.k.a. , "tickling their ears". I watched "caligirl's" video regarding a phone call with an active jw. After she showed him from the Bible that the Apostle Paul taught that Christians have a heavenly hope. His response was " I don't want to go to heaven, what am I going to do in heaven ? I want to stay here on earth and be young and ride horses, etc." ... when I heard him say that, I was utterly convinced that his heart is hardened to God.... anyways, great video!!! Take care,

From what I recall, the birth of Eve played into it. Watchtower President Fred Franz said, 'If we only knew when Eve was born we could figure out when exactly the end would be.' A friend of mine was sitting next to Franz one day at the Bethel dining room table and told him 'Well, there is someone who knows exactly when Eve was born and he himself said that he doesn't know the day or the hour, so how are you going to figure it out even if you had that information?'

Dr. Richmann Before Jesus's death he didn't know the day or hour, but after his death he did. Matt. 28:18 Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: “All authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things." "I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things." Jesus is letting them know that he knows when the end is, and he'll be there. Watchtower is very good at leaving out important details to mislead.

Why do you say he now knows the day or the hour??? What scripture are you using to back up your claim??? The last time I read the Bible, Jesus said he doesn't know. PERIOD. He doesn't have to know. Jehovah can say, "Be ready my Son and I'll tell you when to go and conquer." So all Jesus has to do is be ready and stay awake. He doesn't have to know. To say he 'now knows' is pure and simple bullsh*t that the Watchtower wants you to believe so you'll think they're 'in the know' and that they know stuff ordinary JW's don't know. Its another way of making you think they are the 'F&D slave. Basically its a con job.

Thank you for all those suggestions to discuss with JWs. Another incredible thing about the 1975 is that they had used the same idea but for 1874, that also being 6,000 years since the creation of Adam. They later explained (in the late 1940s I think) that they had been 100 years out in that original 1874 calculation and later decided to rehash it to come up with 1974.

Great Job! The Worldwide Church of God produced the book " 1975 in Prophecy " in 1956. It could be that watchtower may have been influenced by this book and decided to proclaim the same date in order to bring in greater numbers to the flock. Both these groups have failed to follow the admonition by the Lord Jesus in ACTS 1:7 " It does not belong to you to know the TIMES or DATES that the Father has set by his own authority."

Thank you so much for your excellent video on 1975!! I grew up under the constant fear of Armageddon and the nightmares that came with the Watchtower Organization's constant reminders of "what a fearful thing it is to fall into the hands of the living God," full of graphic descriptions of the many terrible ways people would die at Armageddon in 1975. Everyone had to believe it without question because "it was THE TRUTH." What many Watchtowerites of today do not understand is that while they can say, "Well, the Watchtower Organization never said that," they don't understand that what they put in print was actually just a small part of how hard they pushed the whole, "Armageddon is coming NO LATER THAN the autumn of 1975, so you had better get right with Jehovah and not screw up, or you're going to be DESDTROYED!!" thing... Yes!! This is what we lived with every single day and night; it was pounded into our heads at every meeting and assembly; it was all we talked about!! Though the Watchtower Organization was more careful in what that they put in print, believe you me, it was no holds barred when it came to what they preached from the podium...it was pure "hell fire and damnation," Watchtower style. So many lives were absolutely ruined as we gave up on school and education, losing out on the lives and careers we could have had, most living in poverty, many faithful Watchtowerites of that generation are now facing old age and nursing homes, poor and alone, because we believed the lie. Yes, most Watchtowerites of today believe the new lie, "It never happened; some of the brothers and sisters just ran ahead of the organization." My own Nazi JW son had the arrogant nerve to call me a liar when I tried to tell him how two JWs came to my house in January 1975 & told me that if I didn't come "back to Jehovah" I was going to die at Armageddon, that Jehovah was going to DESTROY him and his brothers and his unborn sister, and that their blood would be on my hands...yes, my now grown son actually told me that I had made it all up; that it never happened... I hope that one day there will be a video of mostly testimonies straight from the mouths of those who lived through it all, because, sadly, you can't just show JWs the facts...they don't care about the facts...but if they could see and hear actual live persons who were there, who lived through those days of the Watchtower's 1975 Armageddon Prophecy...what they were required to believe, how their lives revolved around Armageddon being "just around the corner," giving up education and careers and children...that might have an impact. God bless you both!!

I started studying the Bible with Jehovah Witnesses in 1974, there appeared to be a split going on within the organization because there were only some Witnesses that believed that the end some coming in 1975. Because I was clear that only Jehovah knew the day, date and time when this system that we live in would actually end!!!

JD Mick we asked ourselves a simply question. What type of presentation would we like to see from someone discussing such an emotionally charged issue if we were still JW on the fence As a JW we viewed the watchtower like mama. Folks don't like you talking bad about their mommy EVEN IF ITS TRUE so we decided to approach our videos from that perspective One of the most important things we Learned as JW ---was to know your audience - when we saw toys in the yard we talked issues concerning families with kids When when saw wheel chair ramps as we walked to the house --We know health concerns would be apart of our presentation Well after 60 years combine we know a little about JW and JW mindset Lol

I was only 4 in 1975 so I don't remember any of this being taught. However years later my dad told me the whole story. He broke it down for me but neither he or my mom believed this. However my dad still held on to the belief if the 7,000 year creative days and that at the end of the 1.000 years reign would mark a jubilee. A couple of years before he died almost 8 years ago at the age of 90 he had started realizing that the WT society didn't know what they were doing. He was steadfast to the end despite this but that's the tragedy if it all.

I was 14 in 1975. (And as an aside, the JWs DID believe was the end of today's wicked system of things. We weren't being overly assumptive, the excuse the JWs use for the end not coming then.) I remember when 1976 came, I wanted to look at my parents and say" Hey, Mom and Dad, did you notice that we needed to buy a new calendar? It's 1976! What happened, or more importantly, what DIDN'T happen?" It took me many years to reclaim my life and, at points in that period, I REALLY tried to be the best JW I could. But the seeds of doubt were planted, and then watered by more and more JW false prophecies and failed policies.
