I used to sit and dream as a kid to own one of these watching the older boys run up and down the trails near our neighborhood. I remember the sound distinctly, this and the XR 75
Had a 1975, miss that little beast to this day at 61 years old.
My buddy had a JB racer! They had a blue jay chasing a bee on the tank, this resto must look like team bikes, the one's a privateer could buy had the bird and bee! Never have seen one like my Buddy's after all these years.
I made the fastest cr 125 m1 Elsinore 74 in the world by putting a Hodka Wombat Combat reed valve into the back of the Head & I put 4 holes on the side of the piston facing the reed Valve, also I had the racing dome piston skirts cut to match the stage 3 porting , I put a up proto pipe on it that turned down by the kick starter , I had a modified 6 speed transmission. I put a DG Long Fin engine head top on it . I had to have the carb jet drilled out very big because it was suffering for fuel at 1st . When I took it to an airport run way that was not being used anymore to jet it ' the back spocket blew up because the 4 bolts broke right off the wheel it was so different & powerful. Me & my DAD just looked at each other & said YIKES !

You know how you make one of the fastest bikes in the world! You go to the airport and get avgas i ran that in my CR 500 no other 500 couldnt ever keep up too me not even close! But its very hard on the top end my sparkplugs were always white i mean white and it never smoked i ran it at 20:1! I had The fastest 500 i have ever seen in my life to this day

You installed a reed valve into the back of the head? The reeds attach to the cylinder - NOT the head
So you know it's a fresh Elsie when your on the pipe through all gears and not a single puff of the blue stuff👏👍
Love love love that sound, fresh and snappy. I had a 1976 CR125 Elsinore, anybody remember the variable pitch knobby?

Them old 70s and 80s 2 strokes sound the meanest

I met Jeff Ward at Unadilla along with Ricky Johnson and Jean Mitchel Bayle (the Frenchman was doing a triple jump lol ) Jeff was a great guy and a beast at the track 💪

They have many highly reputable and well known and respected connections all over the United States, to get the best of the best, when it comes to motorcycles. I truly love my 2 bikes I bought from them....A vintage 1985 350cc Twin Cylinder Yamaha 2 stroke Kenny Roberts Edition Streetbike, and a 2022 GasGas MC 250 2 stroke MX Dirtbike. They are the most honest people around, and it was a pleasure and privilege to do business with them. Take Care, Brother.
The Bark from that ripper is Nasty when on the pipe !!! And that custom handmade pipe is Money , I still remember the old days Works BIKES they had to have pipes like that to compete ,Very Sweet BIKE!!!
One of the nicest looking CR’s I’ve seen. Sounds crisp too.
Now that’s a real dirt bike little screaming two stroke mad bees! Man!
Hell yeah Capp, she's a Lil'rippa!!
Glistening with trickery
ripper absolute ripper i cant get the sound out of my head
That bike is so sweet it’s such good condition
Sounds like a pissed off bee lol
g day from australia---I WANT THAT BIKE!!!!!---AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
That pipe is awesome!
Kaplan America never fails to impress best vintage dirt bike collection world wide if I ever come to the US Kens is a must see love the content
Totally sweet Kaplan crew! The performance is definitely alive and kicking on that old Elsinore!
Great work 👍
Wow, she is pure awesomeness 😍 she can really move 🌩 ⚡
Very nice Example you have there Ken 👍. Out here in So Cal Back in the early ‘70’ s up at Carlsbad Raceway I used to go every year for the annual Moto-cross Grand-Prix . We would see ALL kinds of one -off works bikes show up,along with tons of privateer stuff from smaller shops around the country & world . I raced on that track in 1981 on my brand new Yamaha water cooled 125 and man was that a blast . Hearing you ripping through the gears on this blue Honda sure brought back memories of my 125 doing the same thing . I’m 62-1/2 now & my current off road Steed is my trusty ‘99 WR-400 F . I may have grown older , but like you I refuse to grow UP …😏😉👍. C-ya , & Thanks for posting.
6 Speed? That's unusual. The bike is magnificent. Awesome Blue💨

Six speed was a nice advantage over other brands in its class and were always standard on the CR 125 . I had a 73 the second one in New England area for about two weeks and then the were EVERYWHERE. lol

Idk about older ones, but I had a 79 CR125 Elsinore and it was a 6speed. Which actually turned into a 5speed when I was climbing a hill and locked up. Split the cases and had a gear broke, removed it, found a old bearing laying around that was basically same with, cut the outer race off, removed the ball bearings and used inner race as a spacer. So it lost 1st gear, was just 2nd through 6th after and didn't hurt it one bit. That old 79 was a straight up rocket! Was also a frame breaker!
Beautiful machine
The real ELSINORE ❤
That's just beautiful what a piece of history 👏 😍
what a Machine. Love the color ... had CR 125 m back in the day was a wheel standing monster thru out the gears
Hi Ken it's been awhile and what a stunning bike but the thing people don't know is how fast they really go and boy does that one go in the right hands could easily keep with a modern 125.
The best sound 2t on this channel
I use to watch Jeff Ward @ irwindale raceway on his XR 75 in the middle 70s awesome Rider
Awesome man. I was in the middle of restoring a 79 kx80 and i sold it. Kicking myself in the ass now I love the old air cooled motors, reminds me of some of the heads on the old snowmobiles!
Jeff Ward before he went team green . This must have been quite a jump from the xr75.

She sounds and looks real nice!
Nice bike bro!! That bike is picture perfect
Bad ass straight gettin it I love the sound and smell of them old 2 strokes
Beautiful bike..
Wow that thing hauls ass!! I like the blue, reminds me of an IT
Man that thing rips!
I remember reading about Jeff in the very early 70s ,I think he was racing mini bikes or something. All the way to Indy 500, quite a life.
Great looking bike! Jeff Ward........There's a name I haven't heard in over 30 years! You need to at least put a small mound of dirt and make a jump in that park of yours! Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!
WOW that thing hauls ass for a 125 STUNNINGGGGGGGGGGGG
Beautiful ❤️
By far the sickest sounding 2 stroke I ever heard come out of Kaplan Cycle'$ 😎

Nice bike and pipe but that's questionable. Sounds like my old TM125 with the baffle out.
Bad ass thanks for the memories!
Not losing the cops with that crispy sound🤣
Awesome!!!!!
Nice I had a 73 250 Elsinore
Not too shabby for a 74 2-stroke 125
I had a couple of those bike i blew the cluch right out the side casing! But what crazy fast bikes i could image racing one of those ever again lol
Dime piece 👌
I had a 77 red. Wish I still had it but I'm happy with my 22 ktm 250 xc no lights 2 stroke
That was definitely that color of blue was definitely popular back the '70s painted Vans that canary yellow. That's was the 60s-70s shade of Blue
Dig the blue !!!!!
“Glistening with trickery and hundred dollar bills” hahahahaha
Such a cool bike almost unbelievable.....👍😂

Super sweet 😋
Well... I don't even know if you'll see this but, at least I tried to " drop by ". I got close. I was on Tolland Rd. Where it crosses one of the interstates, and I looked up on this hill, and it looked familiar. Anyways, I'm at Bradley right now. My flight doesn't leave until tonight, so I've got all day to reflect on this trip turning into one of the biggest cluster-fucks in my life! But hey, you should at least know that your videos do have an impact... enough for me to embark on this misadventure in the first place! I'm hungry, and almost broke. So I think I'll go downtown, and try to get me something to eat, and do the " homeless in Hartford" thing again for another afternoon. Shit, at least the busses are free here. But it be cold!! I just don't want to get stuck like yesterday and half to use all my strength just to hobble a couple of blocks! Damn, don't you people believe in sidewalks around here!!(lol)
Revs to the 🌙 🌚
Mint.
No matter what the year, 2 strokes have always been fast. Whereas 4 strokes are just now getting fast.
I had a Jeff Ward replica 74 Elsinore - won a lot of races on that bike

This is my old bike! Glad to see its in good hands - i won a lot of races on it in the Pacific Northwest vintage MX scene in the early/mid 2000's
Awesome Bike. I wouild probably keep it on display in my House while I thrash my modern Bike out on the trail/track. I was a big Jeff Ward fan when He was on Team Green in the 80's. I wanted Him to beat Mark Barnett so bad 😣....I know He won some 250/Supercross and 500 titles, but don't remember if He did in the 125 class
All 2strock my heart

BY THE LOOKS OF THE SUSPENTION I WOULD SAY THAT BIKE STOCK WOULD HAVE BEEN SILVER & GREEN WITH A DOWNPIPE. I HAD ONE, I THINK IT WAS A 1975.MY FIRST REAL MOTOCROSS MACHINE. I RODE IT HARD EVERY DAY AFTER SCHOOL. IT DEVELOPED A TRANNY PROBLEM,IT WOULD JUMP OUT OF 3RD. SOLD IT AND BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 1977 RM 250, $ 1,400 BACK THEN.

😂✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻sound never gets old
Was the Elsinore 125 cr 1974 model the best sounding 2 stroke of all time. I'm starting to think it was 👍
Fellas, Feast your Ears !
There it is! 😁😁❤️....That's gotta be the most beautiful dirtbike I ever laid my eyes on, in my 49 years of life. Love that shade of the color Blue, and the fact of how badass that bike sounds, and because of how truly fast it is, being a vintage 2 stroke MX Dirtbike. Appears to be able to keep up with the modern 125cc 2 stroke MX Dirtbikes of Today.
It's a DG head, the old sand cast version....not a Webco head. The pipe is very nice and I recognize the name. I'm lucky I guess as I can get custom pipes for $400-$600.

How does the hornets nest not melt that front fender!?!?!?
I forgot how fast those were
Sounds bas ass!! Thanks for sharing.
Fatten that thing up a little when you blip the throttle it hangs up a little.
Wow , I thought it was a 250 at 1st with that down pipe
