Love whaty Jeff said about Austin....Austin definitely does have that thing where everyone wants to be around him and is drawn to him and his charisma. When Austin is on camera you can NOt take your eyes off him...the same with Tom Hardy.

Jeff is a super kind and down to earth human being. I wished I’d gotten to talk to him on set as much as you did in this interview, but I could tell by proximity that he was a really humble and cool guy. Can’t wait to see the result in December! EDIT- I took Jeff’s advice and watched Babyteeth last night. Wow, was he right or was he right. That movie was emotional, funny, dark, romantic. Also had some REALLY good shots in it. It surpassed my expectations, and it was cool to see Toby Wallace in something, cause I hadn’t seen his acting yet!

Josh, Thank you so much as ALWAYS for the insightful interview w/ Jeff! It’s so sad that this movie won’t get adequate press from such an amazing cast, so it’s great to hear Jeff do a long interview and be able to get in depth with someone like you. My friend and I were able to meet him at the screening in May, we took our Bikeriders books and he graciously signed them. Even being able to speak with him for a few minutes, his passion for this movie/story was so clear. Can’t wait to see it on the big screen (again)!

Jeff Nichols and James Grey are a big mystery for me. I like their films, altough they never made truly great movie, they get stellar reviews but almost all of their movies are a big, big flops in terms of box office. I get that not every movie has to be a moneymaker hit, but moviemaking is a business. How they still get to work and find a way to finance their projects while their past works lost money is fascinating me.

Dumb question here: How do directors like Jeff Nichols actually make a living ? You know what i mean ? They take their time between movies. The movies are not super successful financially. How does this actually work ?
