Ойын-сауық

My guest Jeff Drake sat with me for an interview about his band the Joneses and their adventures in the music scene of the 1980s, his time in prison for bank robbery, his 90s band Amanda Jones, forming the Vice Principals with his brother, going back to school to study history, and writing a memoir of his rock n roll life!

@@jeffd8269 Hey Jeff I just finished your book. Twice. First I wanna say how stoked I was by it's length. I've waited eagerly for memoirs from other cult or underground musicians only to be let down by books with maybe only 150 pages of writing padded out with large font size and photos everyone has already seen for years. I knew when I laid eyes on your book it was going to answer every question I ever had about The Joneses and I've had them for 40 years. I'd like to be able to say you met my expectations (and really you totally did) but there was one query left hanging by book's end. About 20 years ago friends around HB/LB told me that Steve Houston was homeless and living on the street. Ten years ago Grisham said no one knows if he's alive or dead. So the one question I still have after 260-some pages is whatever happened to Steve Houston? For 40 years I've been turning people on to your music - constantly. I'll never stop. Thanks for the tunes and thanks for the killer book...Don.

@@misterslats Hey Don, thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed my book. As for Steve Houston, he's not well. He's alive and last I heard was living in Big Bear CA. For the last several years Steve has been threatening me on line. Threatening to kill me if our paths cross, etc. It seems that Steve is unhappy that I "get all the money and credit". I'm not sure what money or credit he's talking about but he's seems very angry. I had to block him on Facebook. If you have any other questions you can contact me on Facebook. It's just a fluke I happened to see this question. JD

@@jeffd8269 Oh that's wonderful - not the aggression you get from Houston - but that you could fill me in on that topic. Thanks so much.
