Lyrics [Verse 1] Looking out the door I see the rain Fall upon the funeral mourners Parading in a wake of sad relations As their shoes fill up with water Maybe I'm too young To keep good love from going wrong But tonight you're on my mind So you never know [Verse 2] Broken down and hungry for your love With no way to feed it Where are you tonight, child You know how much I need it Too young to hold on And too old to just break free and run [Verse 3] Sometimes a man gets carried away When he feels like he should Be having his fun And much too blind to see The damage he's done Sometimes a man must awake To find that really, he has no-one So I'll wait for you, and I'll burn Will I ever see your sweet return Oh, will I ever learn? [Chorus] Oh lover, you should've come over Cause it's not too late [Verse 4] Lonely is the room, the bed is made The open window lets the rain in Burning in the corner is the only one Who dreams he had you with him My body turns and yearns For a sleep that won't ever come It's never over My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder It's never over All my riches for her smiles When I slept so soft against her It's never over All my blood for The sweetness of her laughter It's never over She's the tear that hangs Inside my soul forever Well maybe I'm just too young To keep good love from going wrong [Chorus] Oh... Ohh... Ohhhhh... Ohhhhhh... Ohh..... lover, you should've come over Yes, yes, I feel too young to hold on And I'm much too old to break free and run Too deaf, dumb, and blind To see the damage I've done Sweet lover, you should've come over Oh, love well I'll wait for you Lover, lover, lover Lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover Lover, lover, lover you should've come over Cause it's not too late

She’s a tear line might be the greatest lyric ever written. If you’ve felt it you know
This song always has, and always will blow my mind. It's intensity just builds and builds. When it feels too much it keeps going, until you're utterly lost in its beauty. This will forever remind me of a loss that can never be understood, like the loss ofJeff Buckley. Tragic, sad, horrible. I so miss the amazing person I knew and loved.
You can think you're in love, then Jeff says: hold my beer 💙
I was 24 by the time, and lost the girl I most loved in my life, and probably the one who loved me the most, and it was all my fault. Listened and cried a couple of times to that song, without really trying to understand its lyrics (I'm French). Tonight after a long recovering, I'm listening to it afin, and reading the lyrics give me a master love/life lesson I should have been able to take years before....

I can see the celtic influence in his songwriting. It makes me proud knowing that many poetic, romantic, wailing musical works came from Ireland/Scotland.

listening with a lump in my throat & tears in my eyes right now
My ex boyfriend who I started dating december 15th of 2023, me and him had several songs that we associated with eachother, this being the main song. When we’d hangout, we always listened to this, we’d post eachother to it. It was ours for quite a while. When we broke up i was absolutely destroyed, this song helped me realize that i can always love him, but with my soul. Not my body or my words. He is no longer mine. But ill always care very deeply for him and i hope he understands the way we ended was entirely out of inmaturity on both of our parts.
Never knew him but it hurts so bad knowing he’s gone. What a beautiful talented man he was. Heartbroken. 😢
He is immortalized. And, he is worthy enough of that Immortalization.
Rip man. Can't listen to this song without crying.
"shes the tear that hangs inside my soul forever" it gets me every time :(
Jeff is the only artist that makes me close my eyes and just let the music drive me away...it's almost hypnotic

The perfect go to bro when you’re wondering if she’s still thinking about you, only to realize she’s actually wondering what you’re up to, and so she overhears you hanging out with Jeff and getting in touch with your emotions😅
I must have listened to Jeff Buckley's rendition of Hallelujah countless time. Lover, You Should've Come Over is just as good, dare I saw it's equal.

It's even better.
When a track is full of hooks, it's really good for a handful of listens. Not enough hooks, and the listener has no reason to come back to it. This song is the epitome of the "perfect blend", allowing it to remain fresh every single time.
My God, those back up vocals kick in and I just melt.
This is one of the few songs that makes my heart physically ache. I feel it in my chest when a song is speaking to my inner darkness - Jeff could sing directly to the soul
one of the best songs of all time, a lyrical masterpiece (too deaf, dumb and blind to see the damage I've done! ')
his music makes me so glad I'm alive...
How can it be possible that someone with a talent like this isn't with us anymore 😭 forever devastated

Well, I don't cry but I understand the sentiment.
“But maybe I’m just too young to keep good love from going wrong”…. not sure if my heart can recover from that line. It really embodies the guilt that comes with loss.

I have listened to this song more than thousand times, and it still give me the same feels as the first time. Every bit of melody and lyric of this song is drenched with heartache, guilt, love and despair. This song is not only just a piece of music, but it transcends into something that embraces your soul.
'She's the tear that hangs inside my soul forever' damn, son.

Franco Barrios I don’t know but it’s so sad that he is absolutely underrated. World need to know about this angel who heal souls.
I remember, I bought this CD the summer after 8th grade in 2009. Jeff was recommended by a lifeguard at our local pool who I believe was going into junior year at the time. If you see this.. Thanks, Dylan.
it's day 11 of listening to this song on loop and i don't think i'll ever stop.
He used to step onto stages in small venues of mostly lumberjacks and sing like this, w/o a lick of pretense. And the lumberjacks would sit in quiet amazement and total respect.

Aye, I noticed all the check shirts too. And as for Seattle, it was the lumberjack capital of the world at one point.

This song now reminds me of someone. I used to listen to it when I was sad as a teenager, but now as an adult I actually relate to it and it’s the most painful thing. After a year of not seeing each other, the other night i reunited with this friend i always had feelings for but we fell out and stopped talking to each other for many reasons. We managed to meet up the other night for a concert and then the rest of the night we spent it talking like old friends. When we were saying goodbye he told me this might be the last time we’ll see each other because he’s moving far away for work and he doesn’t know when he’ll come back. I didn’t say much but it hurt like a dagger to the heart, and all I wanted to do was hug him and never let go. He has a girlfriend and what i wanted to do wouldn’t be right, so like always I kept it all inside. The walk to my car felt eternal and like i was walking on broken glass. when I finally got to the car I just broke down in pieces. We talked over the phone when I got home and he basically confessed that all this time he had feelings for me too. He has a girlfriend and he’s moving away so, there’s nothing I can do. I’m drowning in regret because of the lost time, If only we had communicated our feelings this wouldn’t be happening. Now it can never happen and my heart has never hurt so much for someone. I don’t think i can see him one last time before he leaves, it hurts too much. I don’t think i could bring myself to tell him how I feel either…All i know is that i yearn and burn for him, and I’m going to be listening to this song and thinking of him. My heart just hurts so much. I thought that right person wrong time thing was stupid but now im living it. I can only cope to this song and hope that in the future we can be reunited again when the time is right. Even if it doesn’t happen I’ll always wish him the best, I’ll always wish for his happiness even if it means me not being in his life anymore.
I started listening to Jeff almost 30 years ago after Chris Cornell and Todd Park Mohr said Jeff was their favorite vocalist. From there, I tried to make sure everyone heard this man's amazing voice.
I discovered Jeff Buckley last year at 2 am and I haven't been the same since. Every song on this album is so beautifully written I get chills whenever I listen to it. RIP to an angel
'the tear that hangs inside my soul forever'... I have a bucket full of those...
17 years has gone I still can cry and cannot breath from this Ultimate Emotional Love song Im a mess Thanks Jeff, I wish you had more years But this song
Man, this song is an absolute masterpiece from start to finish. Doesn't get any better than this.
