I saw them together at the Tower Theater outside Philadelphia, October 2013. Unbelievable show. Two maestros. The only thing I can compare is to was a Frank Zappa orchestra concert. Deep. We lost a lot when Brian withdrew in '67. He was on the cusp of some incredible things. ... And then it all was shelved. The moment in time when it would have been groundbreaking gone. Surf's Up is such a beautiful song. I'm glad Jeff performed it. And yes, Brian is somewhat on the shy side. He's hardly ever been a good interview, let alone open up to someone he's only recently met. Jeff has always had great respect for and admiration of him, so it's a shame Brian didn't open up. Also, it's a shame the album they were supposed to do together never happened. The biggest shock though was the sudden passing of Jeff. He's so missed. 😢

Sure Johnny may have made some good movies but legend, IDK about all that?

Jeff Beck is the #GOATGuitarist IMO. Going to see him on 11/1/22 in Arizona for the 14th & probably the last time ( Jeff is 78 years young). I am so grateful I was fortunate to see him perform live that many times. A true musical ICON.

Legend. I had the honor of kneeing him in the groin and then jumped up and down on his stomach. He said something like. Arrrggghh. And coughed. But when i jumped on his stomach he didn’t make a sound after the initial Jump. Must have drained all the air out of him.

And I mean that in the nicest way possible. at Clapton's last guitar festival in Dallas, we were right behind the soundboard. When I saw them go for ear plugs. so did we...heard them both perfectly as well as the rest of the show...

What's most interesting about this interview is Brian Wilson's continuing reverence towards his late brother Dennis. Dennis Wilson was the first Beach Boy to record a solo album, "Pacific Ocean Blue" (1977), and while his voice wasn't in the greatest of shape there's no denying the power and beauty of the songs. Dennis composed at least one masterpiece for The Beach Boys, "Steamboat" from the "Holland" album, a beautiful piece of Americana that would have fitted perfectly on Brian's stillborn project, "Smile."

I saw Brian at the Beacon Theater in 1999, we were sitting in the second row in front of him, he was seated at a keyboard facing the audience reading the lyrics off a teleprompter, his hands never touched the keyboard and he was out of it -- he barely engaged with the audience and he slowly shuffled on and off the stage -- if you told me 23 years ago that Brian would still be touring in 2022 i would have never believed it based on what i witnessed that night. PS - I saw Jeff open for Santana in the 1990's and Jeff's band and set was beyond fantastic

I recall one reviewer in the 90s calling him an Animatron. The Disney robots that sing and dance robotically at the park. It was merciless but true. I always suspected that LSD might be harder on some gene pools than others, but could not begin to discern which. Dennis did worse. He died. Same gene pool. I have never thought it was a good idea for them to do acid, which seemed to have been the original problem but they medicate him to deal with it. Better than being Dennis, I guess but no fun. Shows too.

Thanks again for sharing these videos so us who can't seeeee him get to watch these. Great to hear johnny Christopher depp laugh and smile again and Jeff's take on things

What a great story about Brian Wilson

The title is rather misleading. 'Rebuffed' isn't quite right when one of the outstanding composers of our genre of music compliments your performance. Beyond this interview, when Brian spoke to Jeff he surely was grateful even the small compliment. Wanting more is natural, but the small laudatory words are larger than their syllables. Chuck Berry told me to 'turn it up' once. Nobody can take that away, he did. If Jeff Beck ever spoke to me, I would be completely grateful, even if he told me to f off. Great talents have a mind somewhere else. Grateful for them all, I am.

I know Dave Marks, as a fellow guitarist, thought it was a great privilege just to be standing shoulder to shoulder with Jeff on the same stage with him---as was Al Jardine. Beck was never too "high and mighty to play with anybody". Hed play with Slash just as much as he would Al Jardine. Goodness knows, he wasn't too good to play with Chris Dreja when he was a Yardbird!

I had never really heard Jeff Beck talk much, if at all, so hearing him talk here & there during this tour always surprised me how he sounds, not so much because of the English accent, just in general, it was just unexpected somehow. But getting used to it now & he has such a light nice-sounding voice, I like hearing him speak

You got more than most; it was a five star review. When I saw him in Nashville a few years ago they were doing a meet and greet and people paid $500 just to be shuffled by him sitting at a card table. The person who sat next to me, his parents gave it to him for his birthday and he said he wasn't in front of Brian Wilson for more than 3 to 5 seconds and they shuffled him on so the next person could have their 3 to 5 seconds. As much as I love Brian Wilson I'm glad I didn't pay for that. Seeing Brian and the band, and also Rodriguez opening, that was great.
