My first 4x4 was a 1967 Jeepster Commando V6, mildly modified on 8.90-16 tires. Lot of good memories from that time.

In high school, my best friend got a 67 commando with 12k miles on it and we drove all over in it. We did get it up to 110 mph on a trip to San Diego. About a year after graduation I got a 68 Commando that was more of a Frankenstein machine and always had something wrong with it until my ex wife got it in 98. It was fun when it ran.

Another great video, thanks for showing us around those vehicles, and how they drive. It is interesting to see the Jeepster up close, my Dad has a 49 Jeepster VJ6 he has been restoring for many years, we are in the final stages. Yes we witnessed how solid the frame is underneath. Interesting to learn about the overdrive, you mentioned that it goes into neutral when you lift your foot off the accelerator, we did not know about that. Dad has not driven it yet as it was in a barn when he purchased it 20 years ago. Dad also has an AMC Mighty Mite which we spotted in the background. Another fun vehicle to drive. He restored it and it is used occasionally.

My wife and I have driven our 48 about 10,000 miles traveling around the country. We have the Hurricane 6 cylinder and avoid interstates. The Go-devil was better for tractors and Jeeps but will get you there when time is not a factor.

I have a running "project", 1978 right steering, Automatic, 2 wheel drive, 232 straight 6, AM General Postal Jeep. I take it to estate sales, swap meets, and around town. With the rear "cargo" door and sliding suicide doors, it holds a surprisingly large amount of cargo.

I've got a 71 Jeepster commando, same color as the one you have there. It hasn't run since 2008, but now that I'm an empty nester coming up this Fall, my goal is to get it back on the road. It's been garaged most of it's life so it's in pretty good shape.

This is a great video! I bought a 73 Commando a few months ago, same color as your 72. I’ll like to install larger tires in it. Can you share what tire size you have in yours? Thank you!

So the Jeepster is not an all terrain vehicle. Is rear wheel drive? Great video!!!

Still very capable, but it was designed as a touring car. In the 30s and 40s, they were very popular.

Is that dauntless supposed to tap like that? Cuz my rebuilt brand new dauntless sounds exactly like yours…tap tap tap… been trying to figure out what it is and i can’t…

My dauntless doesn't tap that I remember, but the 304 in my 72 Commando does. It's a lifter. I have new ones for it. I just haven't had the time to replace them yet.

I dont remember the exact brand but it was a company on Ebay that sells vintage radios that have Bluetooth and hidden USB ports.
