Very good thank you. My vacuum actuator wound up being a hair to short to turn the dash light on. It’s engaged. The switch works if taken out and pressed but just too short.

Thanks for the heads up on the parts, the auto zone vacuum fits the oem piece perfectly. Got my 4 wheel drive working again.

Great video. I tend to agree, everybody hates the vacuum CAD but when it’s in good shape, it works great. To fix your 4WD light (if you haven’t figured that out yet), you need to switch to the Echlin FWD25 switch from Napa, and then heee to splice up a GM weatherpack 2-pin connector. That switch is from the 90s-00s Dodge CAD and it has no wiring. It’s a better setup. It threads right in, you just need to do the custom wiring. No biggie. There’s a good post on JeepForum by UZI4U.

I have great respect for all you guys that record your maintenance to help the rest of us.. it would take me 2hrs to record a 10 min job, and get good camera shots. so thank you... I've got dads 95 yj 4 cyl was sitting on fence row for 6yrs, got it runnin, little rough on idle (maybe bad map). Cant get 4wd shifter into low range, even at slow roll on gravel. checking linkage and actuator..

I’m sure you probably got a light switch by now but maybe you could grind the black plastic away enough to expose more of the wire stubs and solder longer wire pigtails onto it.

Does any fluid go into shift fork area?

did you manage to find the 4wd indicator light switch?, if yeas please share as I gone through all 4wheel page and cannot find it

how do you remove the diaphragm cannister from the housing?

Never had a major issue from the vacuum actuator on my 93 YJ. All original equipment. Only minor issue it gave me was if the weather is too cold the fork becomes frozen inside. I just put a candle or warming source for a couple minutes under it then its good to go. My 4wd light doesn’t work anymore though.

What causes the 4wd light to come on when transfer case is in 2h and in neutral not in 4h are 4l

I’m having the same issue lol. Only difference is my 4X4 is also not engaging at all l

I have a 93 4.0 Yj. Ever since my 6 inch lift the 4WD lights been on whenever it’s in 2X4 but when I shift the transfer case into 4X4 the light goes away but the transfer case doesn’t actually engage 4X4. Any ideas. I’m guessing it’s a vacuum issue

Never mind I just had the vacuum line thing reversed as well as the 4WD light sensor

Please what is the light on the actuator part number and where can I find it please help me

@@JNHEscapes I went to car-part and found a 4x4 actuator complete, so ill just use either the switch and or the whole housing with the new interior lets see how it goes.. I mean I locked my cad in place but I want the light to turn on lol

I put a cable in. Then took it out. Didn’t work as well as I thought it would.

Early 90 s model dodge pickup s. They will have the same part and people will sell you junk of a dodge cheaper than a wrangler. Make sure you pull the electric connectors from the dodge as well. Because even though they are said to match, they will not. Cut and splice new electric connectors and the rest is the same besides the dodge part will have a vaccum breather line from the housing and the wrangler will only have a plug. Good luck to anyone who can use this info
