It will work, I have one of those for about a year now with no issues. Just make sure you clean the oil pressure sensor from aluminum particles and reinstall it with new thread sealing. The original Jeep part will degrade with the oil at temp and eventually will soften up, all 3.6s will go through this mess eventually. Mine looked like melted plastic around the seals when replaced.

I replaced the OEM that the dealership replaced with the Doorman when I needed to replace the oil temp sensor. I bought mine off Amazon for I believe $190. The dealership charged me close to $300 for the OEM cooler housing when the replaced in 2019. I haven’t had any issues with the Doorman, it was installed last January. I’d definitely go with the Doorman aluminum housing over the plastic OEM or aftermarket housing.

You are sure it's Dorman? There are a lot on Amazon that are a generic brand that appear like Dorman but arent.

I also bought Dorman off amazon. It was for like $208. It actually said it was the only OFFICIAL Dorman on Amazon in the Amazon description. It also came with a little scannable tag that said Dorman on it that sent you to their website.

The Dorman heats the engine temp by up to 4 degrees being all aluminum. Also the updated Mopar unit has a new seal design on the cooler to housing surface and the Dorman uses the older "figure 8" seal design. Best option is the new OEM Mopar unit or just seals

The full Dorman assembly was out for about a year when this video was put out. SKP has an aluminium one now too. SKP's looks more well made, like someone got a Dorman and polished it up.

I’m at 76k miles on my JT and planning to replace my oil cooler next week. I smell oil burning when I’m climbing, so I have to assume it is the cooler and not the rear main. No oil is ever spotted on the driveway, just when climbing it runs on the side of the trans. Thanks for the update, looks like I need to get a few more parts before taking this on.

Change your oil on this plastic housing when the engine is cold. Plastic softens when hot the base will deform eventually by just removing the filter cap to change the filter.

I called several advanced autos and each on had the aluminum complete. Used military discount and still cost 300 and change. Doing this job Sunday for a fun day.

That was always my point… Most Leaks are from the Seals, and not a Cracked Housing… And I also understand that Jeep is into a now later Generation Housing that has been improved 🤔

Buy only Dorman. It's made in the USA and it is stamped as such. Buy it locally so that you can easily inspect it and take advantage of the warranty--which is usually limited lifetime. Do it right, do it once, don't buy imitations. Cheap is dear!

Bought my 2012 new and had one problem. that was the driver side head. it was replaced around 24,000 miles. it's now been over 10 years and I'm now having to fix my oil cooler due to slight leaking. I went with the Dorman over the oem upgrade. looks like a quality product. anxious to see how it turns out.

Replaced the oil cooler this past March on my 2013 Sport JK, 2 weeks later had to replace the oil cooler on my wifes 2015 Rubicon Jk. Used the upgraded Doorman aluminum cooler and filter housing on both jeeps. Yesterday noticed the 2013 using a lot of oil, no blue smoke, no obvious leaks but puddled oil in the exhaust tips!! never a dull moment with Chrysler/Fiat products!!

We use ransoto coolers comes complete just bolt in and go . Only have to change pressure switch on some models due to a very similar plug but has one extra notch in plug . Maybe try ransoto coolers and give us a review of what you think on those would love to hear your feedback.

This has been bugging me for some time. There has to be several dozen videos on this, but NO ONE actually shows where exactly the leak was actually occurring. They just pull off the old one, and shove on a new one. Personally, I wonder if oil changers are using excessive force torqueing the filter caps on the housing. I think it's easy to do because the plastic-on-plastic threads of the oem housing/hsg cap & o-ring give you an erroneous feel. I think a light touch is all that's needed to seal the cap. Of course, the plastic hsg is not a permanent solution because plastic can degrade with heat over time, but I think they should last 150k miles if you don't overtorque the caps or overheat the engine.

My problem-I noticed my antifreeze coolant level was depleting everyday where I had to add some on my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. I looked for any leakage around the van to no avail. Finally after placing the problem on KZread, come to find out most of the Chrysler/Dodge 3.6L Pentastar V6 engines have a failed Oil filter housing and oil cooler (Made of Plastic warped due to the heat off the engine) that is a common cause of coolant and oil leaks on Chrysler 3.6L Pentastar engines. I went ahead and broke into the engine to the valley of the engine and replaced the failed Oil filter housing and oil cooler with a Dorman Upgraded Aluminum Engine Oil Filter Housing with Oil Cooler and Filter-No leaks now. With the breakdown of the engine I replaced the spark plugs, PCV valve, Air intake filter, Mobil 1 extended mileage oil change, with new "O" rings while I was there.

The Weilite will fit you just have so to a minor amount of manipulation. The plugs on the back interfere with a direct placement, you have to tilt the back up and front down and push back a little and all good.

I bout that all aluminum housing for the oil cooling from O’Reilly’s auto parts. Kept finding oil in my radiator and didn’t know why. I ended up paying a lot of money think it was a blown head gasket, did a head job, still was happening. Thought it was a crack I. The block got a new motor using some of the aftermarket parts like the oil coolant housing. Was still seeing oil in the coolant. Come to find out it the aluminum foil cooling housing was leaking. So I went back to oem.

Bought a 2014 JKU. No leaks, just did the upgrade replacement for piece of mind. New cap and other places I've read say that you have to use a different oil filter (stated on the new orange cap). I put the enclosed filter and the old one side-by-side. I see absolutely ZERO difference. Length, circumference, o-ring, NOTHING I see is different. Is there ANY truth to this?

I just rolled over to 100k. no issues with mine yet or any thing else for that matter. I think it all depends on environment, where the engine was assembled etc. As of 2019 they had produced over 10 million of the pentastar 3.6l engines. even at .01 percent failure on some of these that is a 100,000 new oil coolers. assuming you see no warnings, I would wait until the 100K sparkplug replacement. then your already there, might as well do the oil cooler then as a PM.
