    I definitely prefer the soft top for my TJ because Jeeps were meant to have that great open air experience within a few minutes. The doors and windows are in the garage from late April - early November. But I know some prefer the security of these hard tops for various reasons. But I must say, they never look this good, great job! 👍

    Oh Absolutely, totally agree on that , that’s why I saved my soft top I really like it off during the summer too! My wife has been asking about one for awhile now so I made it happen for her plus I figured I’d start getting this jeep ready for its next maiden voyage and that is snow camping and wheeling! I can’t wait. Praying we get snow mid November too! I appreciate the support thank you for watching! Cheers 🍻

    @@ATEMOFFROAD My wife asked me if I worry about getting anything taken w/ the soft top. I told her I never leave valuables in the Jeep. During April - Nov, I lock up anything of value in the glove box or arm rest storage box. Which seldomly is an old gps and a very old ipod. Haven't been able to snow/blizzard wheel in years here in the mid Atlantic. It would be great! 🌨❄

    This is great! I should be buying a Rubicon this week, and the top needs a little TLC. What about paint chips on the top? Should I touch these up first, or does this stuff actually have black in it? Also, any idea if this would work for the fender flares as well? Only other part that needs any attention, really.

  • @ATEMOFFROAD

    Since I have recoated about 3 times , the top had to come off the last times and I stripped it all back off with a pressure washer, its lasted about 9 months covered and if it’s in the sun it will fade much faster. So I would say it’s not a permanent solution, but looks really good after. There is not black in it so I’d definitely sample a section first. And keep away from flares there’s other products for that. 🍻

    Two things.. 1) never knew there was supposed to be a nice rubber trim at bottom of hatd top. Will def do that 2) im debating just painting mine, but this looks easier. However, dont know if im too keen on the wet/oily look. Reapplying looks simple n quick. How has it held up?

    Great video! I just picked up a factory hardtop for my LJ yesterday and it’s in decent shape, but I do wanna give this a shot and refresh it. Where did you buy it ? And what size ? Also, was it oily to the touch after it cured? I mainly off road my Jeep so I don’t wanna apply anything that’s gonna attract dirt

  • @ATEMOFFROAD

    I ordered it on eBay or Amazon one of those sites, it’s a one quart size , I’m still happy with the results. Definitely recommend a dry dust free area when applying it as dust can attract! Once it dryers it’s hard with the top and can be washed as many times , our is still holding up great

    Dustin, my brother-in-law just gave me a ‘95 YJ EXACTLY like yours (black hard top over red. I want to do this, too. Did you sand the hard top at all? I was curious if applying the Penetrol would trap dust or impurities without sanding or doing something besides just washing. Anyway, W O W does that look GREAT! Thanks so much for sharing. Mine has never had the top off. I need to replace the same seals, the cowl seal/gasket and window seals. Thanks so much for sharing!!! I’ve saved and subscribed.

  • @ATEMOFFROAD

    @ATEMOFFROAD

    Жыл бұрын

    Very cool and my apologies for the late response, the top did get a light scuff with a scotchbrite pad a wash and a good alcohol wipe down. This brought back the black and the penetrol did the rest. I thought it looked good as well and lasted for a good nine months. The top started fading first then the sides. I keep the jeep out doors full time and the California sun is brutal on these tops. Anyway I found this is not a permanent fix and it will begin to degrade just like everything els. If your looking for long term I’d suggest getting it painted with hi quality paints. Thanks for watching and congrats on the new jeep 🍻
