I have a 99 tj and to have the passenger seat fold completely forward, you have to push a little lever underneath the seat

My 99 does it on both passengers and driver as well... the concept of the seat looks very similar too. Is there a trick to it 🤔

If you have pull tabs on the side of the seats and they don’t work, there’s a possibly the metal cable that connects the pull tab to the seat release has come out of its grove. I had this happen on my driver’s side seat. When I reached under the lever worked, however the tab did not. It was only after finding and reconnecting a cable into its grove that the tab began to work again.

My 1997 Sahara is only reclining the seat forward, it gets stuck on the first step and I can never move the whole seat forward... Need to look at that. Also need some kind of grease on the seat rails... Cool video!

Hey! Do the front seats allow you to lean them back to complete flat?

How far back do the seats recline? Will they lie perfectly flat, reclined backwards?

Hey Kyle. First, your videos are AWESOME!!! Now, I am as confused as can be. We have a 1997 TJ and the seat looks like it is supposed to work like yours, but it seems frozen solid. Thinking of taking the seat out, removing the functioning base and maybe giving it some TLC. Like penetrating oil or tears of frustration. If you have any advice or other things to think about replacing that I’m not considering, please let me know.

KyleSVT Thanks for the response Kyle. So, after playing with it and looking underneath a little more, I see the hand lever that does release the flip seat forward. SUCCESS!!! But, while looking at the pull tab, I played with it and I see the cable moving, but the function won’t release the seat like yours does. It would be so helpful from smart Jeepers like you to be able to follow the cable and see where a functioning seat cable attaches, so the guys like me and seemingly a nice group of others can see what it should look like. Thanks for all you do. I share a lot of videos of your with other Jeep friends I have. Take care bud.

03-06 work about the same, but instead of that little loop you pull, its a plastic lever on the side of the seat towards the top. Other than that they work all the same. Really neat seat function.

My 98 isn't anything like that, mine has wheels to roll to get seat back forward or back, mine you reach under the seat and flip a switch to move whole seat forward. No sure when they changed.

My 02 seats have the common issue of the broken cable inside the seat so in order to get the entire seat to lift forward, I have to reach under and pull the lever. Not a big deal but at some point I need to take it all apart and see if I can fix it.

Mine goes forward no problem but then it won't lock back in place

my pulling tab doesnt do this on my 1997 jeep wranlger

Any way to adjust the seat a little more forward for lumbar support?

You can lean it forward but don't think that will give you more lumbar support

Ive had mine 4 months now and couldnt figure how to comfortably get people in the back

I’m an original owner of my spec-ordered Flame Red 1997 TJ Sport. While I own a ‘20 Tacoma, a ‘16 Subaru (the wife’s car!) and an aging ‘90 Porsche convertible….I usually choose still to drive the Jeep. With all the family history (all three of my kids learned to drive “stick” in it), disregarding all of the offers to buy it, I just haven’t had the heart to part with it. I really want to upgrade various items….and the seats covers desperately need replacing! Your seat’s pattern is really “unique”! Are they OEM?

Yes they are the stock 01-02 seat pattern

Some reason the lower part of my seat won’t lean.. something to tinker with haha

We just bought a 2002 tj and the driver seat wont move forward at all. Any ideas why it might not slide forward?

Hey any advice on where to buy new seats and frames. I have an 01 with aftermarket seats and the frames slide feature doesn’t work and they don’t tilt forward

My seat on the passenger side works like it should until I put the seat back. It does not lock so if I were to hit the brakes hard and someone in the back hit the passenger seat it would send the passenger seat forward and potentially injure someone, any advice?

Without taking a look at the seat I can't help much. But seems like maybe something is broken or stuck in the seat

My 2000 seat won't slide all the forward with the pull tab....any reason why? ☹️

I would try lubricating the tracks/seat mechanism with wd40 or some type of geese

I just found out that mine ('02 TJ) is broken when I needed the bottle jack to change a tire. Had to call the Auto Club to change the tire. Came here looking for a fix.
