    I bought my 1998 GC brand new and still have it. It's been a very tough, reliable vehicle. I used it off road a lot and pulled a 5,000 lbs trailer all over the Western US. No problems. It never let me down. Now it has a lot of miles and I want to keep it as long as possible. I bought a new 2016 4Runner to use as a daily driver. I still prefer the Jeep for off-roading. I really like the solid axle suspension on my Jeep. It has a much better articulation than the new Jeep models.

    exactly. I have a 98 4.0 zj. tires on the ground make up for so much of the technology like fancy one wheel automatic breaking that this thing relies on.

    Ray_Biker agreed. I also have a ZJ, but it is a 96. 5.2L V8. New Jeeps are "not as Jeep as should". They had been ruined by FIAT (Feckn Italian Auto Technology).... The Renegade is like a larger "fiat UNO", aka "panda" in some countries. I heard the new Grand Cherokees with the independent suspension will loose Camber setting with some minor bumps in paved road! They are a CAR, not a JEEP anymore.... Poor "grandpa CJ" is probably ashamed.....

    It's a single body. After some time of offroading and towing, the jeep will have the chassis twisted and engine mounts loose. And of course will surely have quality control and reliability issues. Go with Toyota 4runner. Body on frame, best awd, traction control and control crawl.

    totally disagree.. Toyota wants to sell you an ovepriced foruner with a 4.0 v6 engine.. new jeeps also have quadra drive 2 which is a better system than crawl control .. preserving lower price and more horse power. I bet you cant do a decent run with any toyota suv . But you actually can with any hemi jeep! no mention on srt and track models.

  • @clarda1

    Wrong. Most 4x4 have open differentials. Since you think most 4x4 can do that I assume you dont know the difference between open, limited, and a locking dif. Very few 4x4 have limited slip or locking diff. Educate yourself.

  • @nickmotsarsky4382

    @nickmotsarsky4382

    Show me a Grand Cherokee that has locking differentials... The best you can do is a rear electronic limited slip, that uses brake action to simulate a real limited slip. And certainly no locking diffs. Perhaps you're the one that needs to be educated.

  • @clarda1

    @clarda1

    6 жыл бұрын

    Nick Motsarsky perhaps you should learn to read. Did I say grand Cherokees had locking differentials? No. They do however have front and rear limited slip, you are wrong on that part buddy. "The Quadra-Drive system was introduced in 1999 and is based on the Quadra-Trac II system but adds limited slip differentials to the front and rear axles to create a four-wheel drive system capable of not only directing torque to the axle with best traction but to the individual wheel on an axle with best traction." So no, I don't need to educate myself. Perhaps you need some education.

  • @nickmotsarsky4382

    @nickmotsarsky4382

    "The available Quadra-Drive® II with rear electronic limited slip differential is a full-time 4x4 system so it’s always active. It is our most advanced 4x4 system and delivers superior all-weather capability by transferring up to 100% of available torque to a single rear wheel if needed." --- Straight from jeep.com. Where do you see anything about a NEW GC having a front limited slip? Maybe old GC's had it. Not anymore. Educate yourself, please.

  • @clarda1

    @clarda1

    6 жыл бұрын

    Nick Motsarsky First off, you are the ignorant one. You didn't even know that Jeeps even came with mechanical limited slip, blatantly ignorant. Then you accuse me of saying they have lockers, which I didn't. Learn to read more than a marketing line (even after the fact cause you obviously don't have a clue when you are talking about) the front has an ELSD, this is still limited slip, but its not mechanical. You obviously have no knowledge on this subject other than what you just google searched. My point ABSOLUTELY still stands. Most 4x4s dont have limited slips or locking differentials. By the way I never said the new ones had front and rear mechanical limited slip, putting words in my mouth again huh? So I really dont get your point after all of this. Are you questioning the Grand Cherokee 4x4 system? "The best you can do is a rear electronic limited slip, that uses brake action to simulate a real limited slip" you obviously have no clue how good this actually is. The QT-II System uses this front and back and can send 100% of the power to the axle with traction. You do know mechanical limited slips actually have their limits right? Where a "Brake action" one does not.
