I had my Jeep in the shop for about 2 weeks because someone ran into me. Now all of a sudden my suspension system isn't working. My Jeep is so low to the ground that it's scraping everything and bouncing around like crazy. Progressive won't even fix the issue reverb right the original accident wasn't my fault and I never had this issue before taking it in for a fender bender... I'm soooooooooo angry I have no idea what to do other than her a lawyer

my wife has a 2015 JGC Limited 3.6 with 110K miles, we bought it brand new. We have had some issues but nothing worth mentioning. Based on mileage and dealer's recommendation, I've been doing some preventive maintenance; idler pulley, tensioner pulley, harmonic balancer, belt, thermostat, water pump, starter, motor mounts. Soon I will be doing the rocker arms. All in all its a great SUV, the engine still running very strong without showing any signs of slowing down. I'm hoping to keep it for another 10yrs.

I bought a 12' Laredo new. Still have it, 140,000 miles. The thermostat got me as well as the air switch you spoke of. That one was $900. My starter recently went, another $900. Otherwise in 10 years it's been great. Drives like new, I've done tires a few times, got rear brakes. I plan to drive it another 100k. It's quiet and smooth, and it can handle 20 inches of snow even though it's got the base 4wd system. Best vehicle I've owned.

I have a 2014 limited and the things I experienced before it reached 90k I had to replace, transfer case sensor, ABS sensor, valve cover gaskets, thermostat, radio replaced twice, transmission went out, radiator leaked because its made of plastic, I go thru brake pads and rotors every three years and I use ceramic pads. I have 95k on it and we replaced spark plugs and coil packs. Despite having these gremlins and wear and tear items, I'm still keeping it.

2012 GC OL. I had pretty much all the problem you discussed. I am not a handy man however I fixed both blenddoor actuators. Driver side was little difficult. Cost me under 100 dollar to fix. Dealer asked me 1800 dollar to fix. Lol. KZread has step by step instruction. Thanks for sharing. Love the comfort. I find this Jeep way more fun drive then my 2018 4Runner. 2016 Laredo E 4x2 purchased used in 2019 with 30k miles. 71k miles today 2/9/23 and other than synthetic oil changes every 8-10k miles (never even had to top off between changes) and engine/cabin filters, I haven't had to fix anything. I do need to change the key fob battery probably every 12-18 months and I also experience the rough 1-2 shift if I don't let it warm up and it's cold out. I've experienced this in other vehicles too so I'm not worried about that. Super reliable so far!
@johndigenakis9725
Ай бұрын
Even synthetic needs to be changed every 5000. Don’t do that 10k interval. Trust me. That’s a sales gimmick.
@Skoon21211
Ай бұрын
@@johndigenakis9725A sales gimmick would be to try to get you to come into the dealership every 5k miles for a $100 oil change. I check it every few thousand miles all the way close to 10k. The oil barely changes color and burns almost nothing. 87k miles today 7/4/24. The only thing I've had to do since my last post is new tires. To each their own.
@Skoon21211
29 күн бұрын
About 88k miles today 7/17/24. No issues since my last comment on 2/9/23. I still go between 8-10k on synthetic oil changes. At that mileage interval, the oil still doesn't look all that dirty and is probably 85% full. The sales gimmick is changing your oil at its half life. The only way I can see needed more frequent oil changes is if you're always driving hard or if you basically drive it like a fleet vehicle, lots of stop and go.

The fuel pump relay was a recall. It is part of the tipm. The recall put in a relay external to the tipm. I had the replaced relay also quit. Only a $4 DIY fix though. I'm having a problem now where the engine will start and stall a few seconds later. You have to push the button to turn the ignition off to attempt a restart. If you just keep your foot on the brake and try to restart it the engine will crank but not start. I've been told the fix is to either remove the start button and use the key inside the fob or replace the ECM. Mine has been doing this occasionally for a few months but it always ends up starting and staying running. It happens hot or cold, in all kinds of weather. The security system that the fob connects to loses contact as it transitions from starting to staying running. I found holding the fob near the start button helps.

I'm on my second, really love to drive these Jeeps. My 2011 V6 Laredo other than factory recalls done, changed the blend door on passenger side, tight access but certainly easy. Although was experiencing a weird rear brake problem, on occasion the rear brake would grab and heat up. Was going to change the body to caliper hose, but traded in before. I found that if you change the oil filter (easiest of any car !) was to change the seal which usually comes with the filter to prevent leakage. My 2016 392 SRT has been good also, changed the water pump and themostat , had a shock go under warranty, but other wise has been pretty good. The Carbon fiber trim pieces typically start to warp, but I believe they have an extended warranty due to being a common problem. Otherwise I really enjoy driving these vehicles!!

I have a 2015 V6 now with 93,000 plus miles. Thermostat housing cracked which is common. A 28 dollar replacement and KZread helped me replace it and save a ton of money. ** Make sure you replace it with the updated part to avoid the same issue. It's visibly beefier at the 90 degree bend. Also common, and now covered are the active headrests breaking and deploying. Most are lucky and aren't driving when it happens, unlike me. Suddenly having your head hit from behind while driving will scare the crap out of you. Pentastar Plastic strikes again here. The plastic that holds the locking pin is thin (cheap and brittle). It will break and headrest will deploy, even though the locking pin is still in locked position. Still, those really aren't so bad overall and I still love my Jeep. Given the price of the new ones, I'm happy to keep mine which is paid off.

2011 5.7 hemi with 225k miles..... blend door problem is a real pain. Replaced water pump, brake diaphram, a head light and have that hood bubbled paint. Sometimes have to use the key fob in the dashboard to start the engine. It acts like an alarm issue or a fob battery is bad. The tranny gets over 200 deg. F when towing my boat over 100 miles. I'm afraid to trade it in for a newer one as it runs well.

I do a have a 2011 Grand Cherokee with the V6 and just shy of 210,000 miles. I did have to repair the air vent selector, big job and not cheap, but I have not experienced any of the other problems you mentioned except for the thermostat, twice. One issue that bothered me was the failure of the calipers, twice, and that happened suddenly on long trips, and I did not have a great time getting home. Overall, it's a great car, the interior and exterior are basically brand new, no rattles when driving and no issues with the hood. Very comfortable, fairly quiet and a great V6. I have the old 5 speed tranny, still working well, some "hiccups" when cold but no slipping and changing gears without problems. Will I get to 300,000? Time will tell!

Stuff ive fixed on 2011 grand cherokee overland 3.6l. All in the last 75k miles: oil cooler, oil filter spring, ac cooler, water pump, thermostats, gas cap, radiator cap, radiator drain, mass air temp, brakes, rotors, tires, new o2 sensors on passenger side, spark plugs, 4 or 5 blinker bulbs, ambient air temp sensor. Some shop mixed orange in 2011's special yellow global coolant, that needed tons of flushing and new water pump to get back to yellow. After 150k, now have O2 and P0420 issues. Must be PCV valve (horrible location) or clogged CC. The leather dashboard came apart, but it was replaced under a recall. Also brake booster replaced under recall. Dealer talked me into paying for a climate control blower motor something. New car battery, upgraded to state patrol sized one! So easy to work on with air shocks of Overland. Set it to max height, and you have all the room in the world under jeep!

Have a grand Cherokee with the hemi- kept getting service 4wd system and was told it was very common that likely it needed a new transfer case. Was quoted 4grand for a used one and no guarantee that it wouldn’t have same issue. I took it to a transmission specialist who determined all that was needed was a transmission computer re-program. $1000 and zero issues since.

I just found out that the battery is underneath the passenger front seat. Thats a new one, seems like an odd place to put it. Especially given that we have the v6 model so theres plenty of room under the hood for it. Ill have to replace the battery before winter I'm sure, doesn't look too complicated, just an odd choice to put it there if you ask me?

I've had a 2012 5.7 wk2 and currently have a 2019 5.7 wk2. Haven't had any of the items you brought up. Except on 2012 the steering rack was stating to leak/weep. I had that one for 8 years and no issues with quadralift leaking. Saying that they need to be replaced every couple years is bogus. I also had a problem with the auto door locks not functioning correctly on that one. On the 2019 the only problem so far is the uconnect freezing up and then rebooting sporadically.

I have a 2012 WK2 overland with the hemi i bought used, recently hit 100k. The water pump and both motor mounts have been replaced. There's a hard thump when going into park, aside from that she runs great. I added an external oil cooler as we tow our 5k+ travel trailer frequently into the high country and take her off roading often. With the air suspension and limited slip diff, I'm able to do some more of the difficult trails I used to do in my gladiator. Comfortable all around capable vehicle, happy with it so far. True, but I have unlimited mileage lifetime max care, which is basically lifetime bumper to bumper directly through FCA. They said they wouldn't cover it. Now I know that there's still a chance that original warranty did cover it but max care won't, but that would mark the first discrepancy between policies that I've ever heard of for max care. Plus as you said, most people are out of factory warranty anyway, so anyone attempting to get coverage would probably be someone like me with max care.

The Dodge/Jeep/Chrystler keys are notorious for going bad and burning up the battery in them. They never "turn off". I have one key for my 2016 RAM that kills its battery every 2 weeks - and its a newer OEM remote at just 2 years old. Under a thermal i can see a chip always running warm and drawing power. I think it shorted when the key got damp in my pocket when washing it. You also need to watch out for the HEMI knock. The lifters will loosen and start tapping the valve cover and you will here the constant tick tick tick. it wears down the metal. And the Hemi's will start to burn oil when they get older. I've also owned several of the older model Grand Cherokees and have found even they had a lot of "common" issues that seems to happen around the same age/mileage for users such as the early 2000s models heater blend door warping and no longer working, and it requires removing half the dash to replace it. And the window lifters constantly break, usually its the rear right that fails first, then the driver And stay away from the diesel engine models of the Jeep Cherokees. My friends have had nothing but issues and the dealership was never able to fix them or even get the parts

I have a leak somewhere in the front of my 2011 jeep grand Cherokee. I have a little under 100k still. But the leak is definitely coolant . The automotive dealership I brought mine to told me they fixed the coolant leak..but it’s definitely not fixed. It’s more broke. For 2 rear breaks and rotors and fixing a clamp that went onto my coolant line somewhere…which brings me to this question…can you follow a coolant line?? I know it’s in the front because you can see the coolant pour out as soon as I auto start in the am before work….?? My grand total for the repairs was $983!? I feel like I got ripped off..I got my front breaks done for under $300 last time. I payed almost triple and they never fixed my leak!! Only made it worse!! I truly I believe I’ve got sucker written on my head-anywho…I just need someone to show me the round about tubes the coolant runs in the front of a Jeep…I’m to old for this and I’ve learned a lot on here..so hoping you can help or point me the right direction.?!

Most of these problems are ironed out by 16. One that wasn’t and I don’t think you mentioned is the Park Sense module. It’s a well known fault and can cause the 16 onwards to slam the brakes when in reverse and you can’t de-activate it, it just reactivates itself. About 88k miles today 7/17/24. No issues since my last comment on 2/9/23. I still go between 8-10k on synthetic oil changes. At that mileage interval, the oil still doesn't look all that dirty and is probably 85% full. The sales gimmick is changing your oil at its half life. The only way I can see needed more frequent oil changes is if you're always driving hard or if you basically drive it like a fleet vehicle, lots of stop and go.
my top 5 Issues I've had with my 2014 GC 1. Warn rocker arms, causing that ticking sound. 2. Thermostat 3. Driver Side Blend Door Actuator. 4. Transmission cooling lines broke off 5. Service shifter message.

I’ve own a 12 grand Cherokee for about 8 years now. 195k on the dash, I’ve had the thermostat problem like you. A few others been the headlight and blinker plugs.

That’s funny, my fuel door release has been not working for a few years. Cheap solution, I use a magnetic chip bag clip. I put the magnet on the fuel door and put the handle of the chip clip so it Closes on the flat of the gas cap. Works perfect 👍
Love the way these drive considering their capabilities. Glad these still have the tried and true V6 and 8 speed. This video is super helpful. Good to keep an eye on common issues. Only issue I had on my ‘19 so far is a failed/faulty fuel pump module that left me stranded on the freeway. Replaced under warranty at least.
Mine 2015 and recently needed oil cooler replaced and thermostat. Great video. Thanks
I just bought a 2021 Grand Cherokee Laredo with less than 20k on it. When I go on rough gravel roads you can hear f - r suspension clunking, yet when I put it on jacks I can't find anything loose.

2015 limited, stalls while driving randomly. Ended up being the lock up torque converter solenoid sticking and staying in overdrive stalling motor.
I have a 2016 grand Jeep Cherokee and when I am driving, it starts to shake. The engine light comes on. The auto start. Light comes on and I have had my spark plugs changed. I have had a new injector put in. I’m on the road now I’ve had this problemfor a while now I have 189,000 miles. Thank you for your time.

Just hit 90 thousand in it other wise been great vehicle no other issues. And as for key fob I have only had to replace mine twice in 4 yrs.

I swapped my air ride on my 2011 Overland for strut and shocks. Between compressor and air bags I was looking at almost 10K. I put in an after market system from Strutmasters for right at 1k. It does ride stiffer but it's an excellent suspension system. 3:46

Hi this video was really helpful. My problem is overheating and I have already changed my cylinder head. How do I find out what causes this problem. I live in west Africa, Sierra Leone
I have a 2013 Laredo and my dim headlights won’t work. I checked my bulbs and they are fine. I just need any advice about what it could be.
alot of the electrical issues related to these year dodges and Chryslers are related to the T.I.P.M. module thats attached to the fuse block
I have went through the comments but didn’t see anything that was the issue I’m having. I have a 2019 limited grand Cherokee and I just replaced both batteries today after they went bad. I’ve been having the hatch open on its own which started a couple days before the batteries went bad. The hatch still is opening on its own and the dash is lighting up and lights on the heat shifter are staying on when the vehicle is locked and shut off and the key fob is nowhere near the vehicle. I’m not sure what the issue is I’ve Been trying to research and figure it out. If anyone has any idea please comment and let me know I’m puzzled and for sure don’t want to buy more batteries if these lights staying on keep draining the batteries
I've had a 2011 Laredo for over 10 years, now. Just turned 200,000km. Bought used, a former rental vehicle. Normal wear items, tires brakes etc. Thermostat engine not getting hot enough. Blend door as stated. Overall a pretty reliable rig. 🙂👍
What would be some overheating problems? For a 2011 Jeep grand Cherokee
2011, thermostat code - replaced at 170,000. Motor mounts 65,000- replaced. Front drive CV boots ripped and both half shafts - 85,000 replaced. Right front brake locked up 90,000. Oil filter housing 120,000 -replaced. Driver side cams and both sides lifters, valve cover gaskets replaced - 180,000. Right rear caliper broken - replaced also. There are others I have forgotten, it gets routine service.
14 Summit. 92,××× miles. I have 2 of the issues you mentioned. (Corrosion on edge of hood, pealing chrome on cup holders) but also had replace adio head unit. It was locking up for the first mile or 2 after start-up. Retaining tabs on front brake pads rusted off, causing rattle over bumps.
This body type is the only one I hear complaints about, 2017 and up seems to be universally loved lol

Mines is a 2014 JGC Overland. I just changed my oil filter housing, thermostat, water pump, something else regarding the gas leaking on the driver's side, and now i have gas leaking from my passenger side. Any suggestions?
2020 GC limited with 46k miles, bad body control module killed my headlights and horn , glad I purchased an extended warranty on it through the dealer
2012 5.7 oil pan gasket leaks. Dealer says 1600 bucks to fix it, it’s a 4x4 and they gotta drop the front axle. Now my’04 WJ 4.7 needs a transmission too.
I have a 2018 Grand Cherokee Laredo got it brand new in 2018 I have had it for five years I don’t drive it often it only has 25K miles on it but I have four recalls to take care of, the passenger door all of sudden started to yellow in the white paint, the AC is making a weird noise when it’s on, the window failed in the passenger, the tires don’t seem to handle any slight slippery moments it just seems like it can’t handle anything? I treat this car like gold too I’m surprised never had this many issues this early I live in a nice area don’t go many places so I’m surprised
I have a 2012 grand Cherokee. Changed oil 12 times so far with no problem. Any time you are using a large wrench on plastic, tighten snug not tight. I bought my truck with 30,000. Now it has 96,000. So far only problem I have had was my Master Cylinder crapped out. (Wich I rare ) I have done brakes and rotors and changed the spark plugs at 75,000. So far all good.
I just purchased a 2019 Altitude. I was concerned about the transmission because of the occasional weird shifting between 1 and 2. It doesn't feel like it's F'd, but I didn't think it was normal. Now I know.
I have a 2016 GC Overland that we purchased new in July 2016. As of today 12 30 2022 almost 80K miles and not one of those problems you mentioned. A couple of the problems you mentioned were owner abuse, nothing mechanical. For example tightening the filter cap to tight and scratching the console. Still have the original batteries in the remotes.
I own a jeep 2021 Laredo, i parked in my house with foot brake on but forgot to put the gear selector to P, but left it unintentionally on N, and shut the car off. The next day I tried to start the car by first put the gear to P after I pressed the ignition and the gear went to P, but the car didn’t start rather started to act weird, lights start flashing etc. any experience with that. Thank you
2015 Grand Cherokee, Motor Mounts went out old rubber was cracking and started leaking grease/oil at 138,000 miles (8 years). Had massive Transmission issues at 4,000 miles and basically strong armed them to drop in a new transmission and visually watched. After that, its been normal wear and tear.
I have laredo 2015... transmission replaced at 220 KM, I'm experiencing the rough shifting from 1st to 2nd gear you mentioned even with the new transmission, its really annoying issue... other than that, the car is awesome. I love it.
My 2013 has the corrosion on the hood I covered it with a bit flector but it over heated on the wife may be doing a engine swap unfortunately
I have a 2015 GC 140k miles and I really want to keep it for another 10 years but I don’t want to pay exorbitant prices to keep it running. It has some rumbling and shaking issues at the moment and it’s alarming me 😢 I would very much like to fix it
Does anybody experience their 2013 JGC shutting off periodically while stopped. Mine sometimes will shutoff randomly then once shifted into park it starts up after one or two cranks, but It never registers a check engine code, it's like it never happened and can go months with no issue until it happens again randomly. It happens in cold and warm weather
We have a 2016 75th anniversary that we bought new. It still only has 32k on it. The evap core needed to be replaced. They wanted $3000 to replace. I was like WTF!!! Lucky for us the dealer we bought it from has a lifetime warranty. Hundred bucks for the deductible. Dodged a bullet on that one. Ours also still has the original battery in it.
How do I replace humidity sensor in 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Error Code P1009?
2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo owner here just got the car. I am a youtube mechanic so ive noticed every problem that was described here. I also wanna add my own: Whenever the air conditioner gets turned on the check engine light goes on It says the high fan circuit is open. Means the high fan wont turn on. i’ve heard its from a faulty wire to the PCM Until now remains unknown

Great video.
Pretty accurate video except dealers won't replace the dash lol. It's a $4-5k job too.

I've checked out newer JGC for around $30k, but didn't think the overall quality and reliability were worth that much. Bought a Jaguar F-Pace instead. So much better. Not planning on off-roading with it.
One thing i've noticed if the key fob battery is very low and I'm dropping one of my kids off so they open the door, the car thinks the key has left the car because i guess the battery is so low it can't detect it
bought my 2011 grand Cherokee Laredo X 4 years ago with 114k v6 since then blend doors, water pump, just had rack replaced ($2300 ouch!) and it appears my transfer case is on its way out. always been a jeep guy, but this one has cost me dearly. $$
Glad I drive a '95 FirstGen GC. 175K and ZERO problems other than some normal wear of the steering box. Every button works and no oil leaks. The further away from the original AMC design Chrysler got, the worse the vehicle.
The Blend door actuator is a PAIN to get out! Specifically the passenger side one, I did it myself and that one screw on the back of the actuator, make sure you have that small socket wrench!!

I would take it back to the same place. If you paid for them to fix it and they didn’t then that is a problem. The radiators are known to leak might just need a new radiator
Why exactly does oil leak into the coolant reservoir?

Had a 2015 with 178,000 miles, only issue I had was bad rocker arms, with the 3.6l traded it in for a 2020 grand Cherokee with a Hemi, so far no issues
Most of these problems are ironed out by 16. One that wasn’t and I don’t think you mentioned is the Park Sense module. It’s a well known fault and can cause the 16 onwards to slam the brakes when in reverse and you can’t de-activate it, it just reactivates itself. Mine went and was replaced under warranty with a new one with an updated module. 40k miles 3l eco diesel it’s not missed a beat. Second summit absolutely bullet proof

We own a 2015 3.6 jeep grand Cherokee. Today dealer tells me that it has a blown head gasket. Only 50k miles. Ohh extended warranty won’t cover the warped head. But it will pay for the gasket. Going to pay to fix it then dump it. Thumbs down with Jeep. Should not have happened.

I drove it for 8 weeks total and it’s been in the shop for 3 months of the total ownership time thus far. I had an 2004 GC and loved it. This one… on the fence. Seems like a lemon.
