Super helpful. It worked for me. My Jeep sat in my garage for a long time. Battery went dead. We charged with a Noco Genius car battery charger. After two days, it was charged but the screen wouldn't turn on. It was completely black / unresponsive (not slightly lit or anything). I unconnected one of the main battery terminals (just picked the closest one to me from the rear seat), and unconnected the smaller battery terminals completely. Waited a minute. Tightened everything back on. Started it up. Screen came on! Saved me a trip to the annoying, do-nothing dealership.

Abdullah...U da MAN!! A friend used our '19 Limited X and left it in drive overnight effectively killing everything. After a jump, our display was totally dark. After disconnecting the batteries...all better. Thanks for showing us where the batteries were. The AAA guy didn't even know for sure.

How do u disconnect it..

Can confirm this fixed my issue. I have a 2018 Grand Cherokee Limited. Not sure what the issue is/was. Only have 60k miles on it and still have warranty until 100k. If this issue persists I will take it in and get it evaluated and fixed. Thank you for saving my time. I appreciate your effort. I had tried all the fuses, but nothing was wrong. This battery trick works for sure.

Does anybody have a issue with the auto color mode not working on the GPS map? Mine stays on daytime mode and its a 2011 jeep grand cherokee

Hi ,I don't know if that solution will work for my jeep. Because mine it turn on but after 2 minutes turn off by itself and after 20 seconds it's turn back on. Any way I'm going to tell my husband about this solution and see if it works. Thanks

Any issues with your radio this is best fix uconnect should issues update for this Or I wish fuse box would have a radio fuse

The secondary battery is for the auto/start stop system

Thank you thank you, did this uconnect booted back up after dead battery jump and now all the words are in blue and not read im cool because my car is blue

My screen is just dark. Like the backlight is super dim. Used to come back on every so often but now it’s stayed dim. At one point I found something talking about leaving the door open for awhile as a fix, but nothing seems to work now.

When the screen comes back check the brightness or adjust your brightness from the side switch maybe that’s the issue?

Seems like some missing settings after I did this, like the rear view camera is no longer available and some other things. Any fix for that?

Same here everything works great after I replaced my battery, I put the car in reverse and no camera. The setting for the camera is gone too. It just says parksense disabled or something. No camera please help.

Thank you!! I’m having this exact same issue with my 2016 GC, just installed a new Uconnect UAV 8.4” system, only difference is the screen goes back to black once I turn off the vehicle. I’m going to try disconnecting the battery for longer next, didn’t know if you had that issue too

I did it but then rear view camera and other features that I had in the car are not longer available, it is because the software? Or there is a way to solve it? Mines is a 2019

Check if there is an update. Mine asked me if I wanted a software update right when I did that. Everything is working normal.

Also I found this after doing some reading. After a fuse pull, battery disconnect or software update the system reconfigures options installed on your car. You just have to be patient. Pulling fuses, battery cables will only slow it down.

This is completely normal next time you need to reset btw I keeps these tools for battery in the car at all times 😂 But ya next time do it when your done for the nite reset it and connect and what I do is turn on car let everything bootup then shut off car and when you wake up everything should be working normal the system has to reboot and connect with camera and stuff and it takes time for memory to build

Do you think this would work if my CarPlay is the only portion of my uconnect that isn’t working?

That might be an issue with your usb connection, or your phone settings, or uconnect settings. You could try, it won’t hurt anything by doing this. Might solve the issue if there is a glitch.

Did u have a problem with any apps lost/heated seats and back up camera not even popping up?

Mine is 2015. I tried to download an update off my computer. Once I downloaded onto a flash drive I plugged into the USB port And it never come up. I need help.

The screen never came up or the update never came up. Plus doesn’t Uconnect update automatically why put the software in a USB?

Check you volume settings, in the settings. I doubt it would make it that loud though.

I have 2014 gc but it doesn’t have the Auxiliary battery should I just replace the battery? My car hasn’t died or anything like that but after a snow storm hit the area my screen won’t turn on windows won’t roll down or up park sense won’t work liftgate won’t work nor park sensor or reverse camera only once in a while but it turns back off fast any ideas Anyone

If your car starts with your current battery the issue is not the battery, probably some other electrical issue. Check your fuses maybe?

I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and I didn't have an auxiliary start/stop battery but I do have remote start and a start/stop button. I unconnected the main battery and it didn't work. And for the life of me I cannot find the auxiliary battery on my model.

@@CEOGaming82 yep, I ended up going to the Jeep dealership after trying EVERYTHING on here. Turns out the whole stereo system was bad. The guy at the dealership knew before even checking the car out. He didn't even charge me, just said for certain years the stereos were trash, don't bother getting one at the dealership because they'll be repaired old systems, and to go to a car stereo place to get a brand new one. I did, got a JVC and it's AMAZING.

Disconnect the secondary terminal then wait a minute and then connect it back and then start the jeep?

Yes, disconnect negative terminal on the big battery. If you have auto start stop you will have a small battery in there, disconnect the negative terminal for that side too.

Battery died after sitting in garage for a week. 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 120,000 km. Got a jump start and screen remained totally black. The Jeep was recently purchased from a dealer. Made contact with them because my first thought was a fuse had blown. I went through the manual and nowhere, nowhere could I find the fuse number. Contacted the dealer - "I'll get my service manager to look into it". No response about the screen. I had a battery company attend to check battery condition. Being 4 years old, 120,000 km, having a new baby and living in a cold region, I opted to have the battery replaced for piece of mind. Dealer suggested that the screen would turn on after battery replacement. It would have if the battery dude didn't connect a supplementary battery to make sure radio didn't loose the security code. BUT apparently this model doesn't need a code, so also doesn't need the supplementary battery during replacement. Bottom line is that the dealer SHOULD HAVE KNOWN what to do. This video was the key. Thank you.

Glad I could help, also same thing with me it sat for 3 days in the snow and died. I think there’s too many things going on even when the car is turned off, and it ends up draining the battery.

I think the fuse for the radio is underneath the passenger seat next to the battery. Look for a red wire with a black cap that has the 20 amp fuse. Cap may be covered with black electrical tape.

So do you do this with the ignition on?

Hey, maybe try doing it again leaving the battery disconnected for 10 minutes so it drains everything. Might bring the camera back.

Take off or turn off? To take it off use a 10mm wrench or socket. Turn the bolt on the terminal counterclockwise till it's loose "don't remove it" and it'll come off.

You could have just done a hard reset on the uconnect system. No need to disconnect the battery.
