Really appreciate this, I just took my 2015 Summit ED in for an oil change for $175 not even realizing I could just use the air suspension as a means to DIY. They wanted $300 to do the fuel filters but I bought the pair and necessary tools for under $50 and will keep this video in mind for my next oil change as well.

I bought a 2014 JGC Eco-Diesel Summit model new so I have gone through the whole emissions saga and all the recalls of this vehicle. I have about 88K miles on it and overall apart from many many recalls and 3 glow plug failures, it has been a very reliable vehicle. The performance and fuel mileage are excellent and it's capabilities as a SUV are a class above a typical SUV in this segment (especially towing). Having said that, if you do not maintain this vehicle like a fanatic, you will experience expensive issues. 5k oil changes are a must because of the EGR gases contaminating the oil as well as Fuel filters every 20k. Also DEF has gotten 300% expensive since I bought the vehicle and the DEF consumption has increased because of the new EPA approved software. Overall I love this vehicle but this will be the last light duty Diesel for me. The additional cost of Diesel, DEF, Fuel filters, expensive oil and all the funky emissions crap is just not worth it.

I am using 2-stroke LiquiMoly semi-synthetic oil instead of diesel additive. 300 ml (1:100) on every tank of fuel. Costs close to nothing, great lubricant, burns ash free, great for the HD pump and injectors.

Hi. I just saw your video! Great video too. Mine is a 2015 ecodiesel and I use Pennzoil euro L 5w-30. There is a lot of debate out there on which oil to use but my manual says use ms-11106 approved oil and thats what I use. I got over 150k on my ecodiesel and it runs like a champ! I also change it every 5000-6000 miles.

In the UK the spec is now 5W-40, I think Jeep changed the spec because a lot of the Eco-Diesels were spinning their main bearings. The thicker oil was meant to help prevent this but it still happens. Very impressed with your miles, many don't get to a third of that. We're selling our 2014 GJ as fed-up with reliability, cost of parts and the risk of main bearing failure. Hope yours keeps going strong.

I have a 2018 JGC with 83,000 miles with an ecodiesel. When I change the oil I drop the drain plug, and while it's draining I change the oil filter. I've never seen "2 or 3 cups" drain out after the initial drain because I'm not looking at it. I can only go by how many quarts I put back in and usually it's right at 8 quarts to hit the full mark on the dipstick with the filter removed while draining.

Funny he mentioned his wife thought the engine is loud. I did a lot of driving for work and when it was time to get a new jeep the sales guy knew of my driving habits as this would've been my 5th jeep. I usually go for the HEMI, however he introduced me to the Summit eco-diesel. I mentioned that diesels were stinky and noisy. He lined up a new Hemi and the eco-diesel side-by-side. I was shocked that the eco-diesel was quieter and not stinky. I'm on my third Eco-diesel now. Too bad Chrysler has discontinued these.
