Jeep Avenger review (It's not a REAL Jeep!)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's the smallest Jeep ever made, it's battery powered, and it's not four-wheel-drive. Already, traditional Jeep buyers will be asking "What's the point?"
But, as Gav found out, it's not aimed at the traditional Jeep buyer. Nope, this little "Jeeplet" is aimed at inner-city folks who don't need a 2 tonne off-roader to pick up the kids and go to shopping. But will this break from tradition translate into sales? And what's it actually like to drive?
As usual, there's only one way to find out. Also, while you're here, consider pressing the Like & Subscribe buttons right above. Keeps Gav from selling his pasty body on that nothing but fans website.
And if you're keen on cutting your carbon footprint, come and join us at Ecotricity, which is now New Zealand's only climate positive electricity provider! That means by switching today, you're actually turning back the clock on Climate Change, while saving money in the process.
Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it's not! Ecotricity is real, with really affordable electricity, thanks to it being purely renewable.
Head to www.ecotricity.co.nz and chuck in your address to see how much money & carbon you can save right now. It's that easy and it makes a real, positive difference for the next generation.

More absolute gold - I thought Kanye West was a train station and my back goes out more than I do…. 😂😂 Nice car for a runabout, but $50-55,000 would make it a serious possibility, but as others have said - if you have $70,000 it’s model Y every time.

Great review Gavin. I agree that the Avenger is a fun car to drive. There is a lot of competition in the 50K - 70K market. The Jeep Avenger may pique a lot of interest for those looking for a fun SUV to drive in the inner city.

I’ve been keen on these since I’ve first seen the overseas reviews, but it takes a Gav stood beside it to show how genuinely tiny it is. Interesting comments about the slightly bouncy ride. That’s why local reviews are important. At the price, it’s probably a yeah nah for me. And it’s going to be facing increasingly stiff competition as a whole bunch of small electric cars arrive.

Objection! the PSC score (as illustrated) did not have any spuds stored in that extensive shelf on the passenger side above the glovebox! You could increase that score by at least 20!

😊 Maybe another reason you subconsciously love this car is the fact that it is fairly basic - (actual) buttons. Does that make me sound like a total luddite? Probably. But then even in the most tech heavy laden EVs - Tesla, here's looking at you - most people only ever use the basic functions, rarely, if ever, realising what else is, largely, unnecessarily available. This is by no means limited to vehicles. Most modern gadgetry from your microwave, washing machine, TV, mobile phone, right on down to your motorcar fall into the unnecessarily complicated category. I've [no idea] what many of the wash cycles on my washing machine are supposed to be for and as for my microwave......🤷🤷🤷🤷

Always a fun review but this vehicle is pretty pointless unless you just want the Jeep badge on your city shopper. The Peugeot e208gt looks a lot better to me but dynamically not a very impressive platform and pretty sluggish for an EV. If I wanted something cute for the city the Volvo EX30 looks a lot more interesting

Nearly same price as a Model Y?

The Model Y is undoubtedly the winner in terms of... well, everything. That being said, I can see buyers potentially opting for this one for 3 reasons: It's much smaller and easier to drive/park in congested cities, it's more trendy/cute/fashionable etc than a Model Y, and because it's stupidly easy for first-EV buyers or older buyer to operate; much like a traditional car (no learning required). Older buyers tend to like that. Or I could just be waffling. Time will tell! 😅-Gav

@@EcotricityNZ It’s definitely cool and a great addition to our options. I get that similar cars can have different price levels across brands (Skoda, VW, Seat, Audi etc), and small cars can cost more than bigger cars. It just doesn’t seem to justify it in this case. Great review as ever and I love waffles.
