If you put alkyl reagent then alkylation will occur, if acyliate reagent is there then acyliation takes place

If we don't take anhydrous it contains h2o and alcl3 will make coordinate bond with o in h2o molecule instead of halogen and no corbocation is formed so anhydrous should be taken.
