jeans upcycle: DIY pleated skirt Y2K inspired

In this video we are transforming and old pair of men's jeans into a 2000s inspired pleated skirt! These jeans were damaged in the crotch and a little too wide around my waist, however this upcycle works for any pair of jeans that you would like to transform!
I love working with denim and it is such an easy material to use, as long as your machine can take it, so I would actually say that this is super doable for beginners too :)

This is brilliant! All the tutorials i've seen don't account for damaged Jeans and mine are damaged in exactly the same place as this video so i'm excited to try this!

Wow I love this tutorial I cant wait to try to make it! I have 2 questions. What needle did you use for this project and what can I do to prevent the fraying at the bottom of the pleats? Thank you💗

You can do a rolled hem, or a single hem or a lettuce hem, whichever way you prefer to finish the bottom 😊

Oh and for denim it's best to use a denim or thicker universal needle :)

would this work with regular pants too? i recently got a hand me down from my mom but I'm not 100% into them but i believe i would use them more had their style been different but i believe i would wear it if it were turned into a skirt

Of course :) with pants you might want to hem the pleats with a rolled hem though depending on how/if they fray :)

It's the topstitching and ironing :)
