The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

It must have been fun for audiences in 1957 to see TV's Wyatt Earp singing and dancing! Thanks for posting!

Hugh O'Brien had a GREAT voice. He would have been great in 110 IN THE SHADE. And what's great about this clip is that you see how charming Jeannie Carson must have been in the revival of FINIAN'S RAINBOW. Two terrific talents in a very original number!

I'd love to see the Broadway musical numbers that were a staple on the ESS. I remember Pearl Baily, Lucy Ball, and countless others. Please!!!

I've enjoyed the eclectic variety of videos today! Please consider also posting the great pop singers and groups of the '50's who haven't been posted yet, such as Joni James, the Four Lads, Kitty Kallen, David Whitfield, Kay Starr, the Four Coins, Eileen Barton, the Ink Spots, April Stevens, Sunny Gale, the Crew-Cuts, the Chordettes, the Dream Weavers, Don Rondo, Billy Ward and the Dominoes, the Four Preps, Kathy Linden, etc., all of whom haven't been posted yet but appeared on the show. I'd really like to see more of the Platters, Ames Brothers, and of course, Teresa Brewer too. Finally, I hope you will post more of the great tenors such as Jan Peerce, Mario Del Monaco, Richard Tucker, James Melton, Sergio Franchi, Enzio Stuarti, etc.
