U have to remember you were their baby, they were involved with every aspect and part of your life so for them boundaries become blurry and it’s not intentional. You just have to remind them with love like hey mom I’m an adult, building a family that were responsible for now and we just need some privacy and to make our own decisions. And good parents will understand and adjust

She told us is she wanted to drop by at 2 am she could because that’s her son. He told me after the divorce that he just didn’t have the strength to battle her and chose her over the marriage. Some parents are disrespectful and you try to give it to them . My children now despise her for her interference. She doesn’t deserve respect

Black, Hispanic and Asian cultures are all about family, togetherness, community, drama et al (unlike white cultures which are so boring and selfish). Thats why black, hispanic and asian don't take their parents to nursing homes but live with them as they age.

I can relate to that because I like my privacy too so I like that Jeannie is respecting that and setting those kind of boundaries. I think Jeannie is forgetting that Mama Mai did mention wanting a grandchild in one of her YT videos, this was before Jeannie and Jeezy got married and Jeannie did not like it. If your parents are out of line, it’s your responsibility to speak to them and establish boundaries. So many people don’t understand that when you get married, you are starting your own family and you have to nurture that relationship and put it first if you want it to work. That doesn’t mean abandoning your original family, it means growing up and getting your priorities straight. Your parents should not have a say in your marriage.

Wouldn't say that parents "should not have a say", as they have wisdom from experience that the children don't have. There is still a responsibility to honour father and mother on both sides. However, boundaries need to be in place to know that advice is welcomed where asked, but decisions are finally made between the husband and wife.

I am African and I had to do it, its is hard but possible. My case wasn't about kids but rather finances. Our marriage is our priority I agree, parents finances shouldn't be our priority and grateful that I was given the wisdom and strength by GOD to mark the boundaries, it was TOUGH but it was the best decision that if not done, I would have said bye bye to our marriage. and that would have been an outcome I can't think about, especially from lacking a spine to hold and say NO.

I don't agree with Jeanie want her hubby to speak to her mom. It's my responsibility to put my parents in their place and it's my husband's responsibility to check his parents. I would not want to be in a potentially argumentative position with my mother in law, we have a good relationship and if she gets out of line, I tell her son, my husband to handle it. And I do the same with my parents, because they love my hubby and I wouldn't want awkward situations between them. They can be mad at me if they want... they eventually get over it, but I wouldn't want them holding a grudge against my husband.

Some families do what Jeannie did because the parents will respect their spouse more if they stand up for themselves. If I went to my Dad about every boundary issue my partner has in his head my partner is still the bad guy because I have a different set of boundaries and dynamic with him. You aren't really family in mine until you have your own individual relationship with my folks.

I love my privacy, both in my personal and digital life, and sometimes she oversteps it and posts stuff online about me(when I was in a healing stage after a severe eczema attack for example) without asking me first if it’s okay. I finally had to confront my mom about it and say that I don’t want my whole entire life out in the open like that, especially when I’m vulnerable like that, I want to do it in my own terms. So true. I used to use that line but sometimes an explanation is actually needed so the child will learn. Some kids won't let you take the days way out. Ours sure keeps us on our toes. I used to think it's being sassy (that's what it was called when I was a child) but really she has the right to express herself as long as it's not disrespectful.

Great clip. Garcelle's story reminds me of one of our kids. I once told her "cuz I said so". She innocently asked "why you say so mommy?" She honestly wants to know and has no problem telling me of I hurt her feelings or calling me out in general. Jeannie, that's awesome that you make sure you and your husb present United front. Everyone should do that.

Giving my parent advice was something I did until I became an adult and even then parental boundary is measured with respect. As a mom now I see why she did certain things due to upbringing and can emphasize and love her for whom she is and not what I had hoped

I hear Jeannie but I couldn’t put that responsibility on my husband. My husband would do the same thing Jeezy did lol. I talk to my mom myself. I’m sure she appreciates the message coming from her daughter who loves her. I don’t ever want someone else to set boundaries between me and her. ❤️🥺 But yes setting boundaries is very important for all relationships.

I had to do that with my grandparents. They don't understand that I am tired of college. I been in college for 4 years. We had to have a conversation where I said after fall I am done with college. They wanted me to get my masters, bachelor, and Dr's. I told them respectfully I am done after fall. I want to work I am 23 years old still living with them. I don't want to spend all my 20s in college. I want to work, and figure out what I want to do in not try to live the life that they want me to live. They are still trying to have a conversation i constantly tell them no. I am ready to branch out in do my own thing. I am ready to move out of their house. They need there space in I need my own space. Also I don't see myself working a minimum wage job my entire life that is something i don't want to do. If they don't respect that i really don't care. It's my life not theirs... If I go back to school it's going to be on my own choice. I am not about to be in my 30s or 40s trying to figure things I should have figure out in my 20s. Yes going to college and having a degree looks really good on a resume, but if I'm not going to use those degrees I don't see no point in continuing my education. I am tired of putting my dreams on the back burner. I am not doing that anymore..

I would hope they would understand times have changed and now some employers are looking for 4 yrs experience vs 4 yrs school (for specific career types).

I really love these group of women, I wish the show started with all 4 of you. You make the show look and feel so healthy. The respect you give each other is so profound. The maturity of Garc...is out of this world. We will miss you. I still think you can work together somewhere one day. That's how women should work, together, something that isn't that appreciated in America, much. Most women I've seen on many shows in America have PHD (pull her down) syndrome, but you have proved me wrong you 4. We, Africans, excluding politicains,, have stages when it comes to how you speak to someone, especially in public. At a certain age, you say what you think. As you grow older you consider other people's feelings before you say something or you ask yourself what value does it add to someone else. Most shows, that I have peeped on, you could just tell that one thinks is better than the other and so on but and sometimes the platforms are misused but I've been liking you four women. You are doing great. All the best for your future. Keep up the good work.

It's long long since l heard you talk about Jaid. He must be equally having a story and tho' not the same script as Jax,it'd be nice to shout it out. He must also be unique in his own way, unless he doesn't like being put in the limelight. Be deliberate on this 😨😨 Mama Mai...a great lady out there. She needs to be handled cautiously the way Ande handles hers 🙏
