    @Moist Flamingo Yes GTA 4 reintroduced me to this fantastic song. I think i heard it back in the 1980s but somehow forgot it later and rediscovered it back in 2008.

    There was a tape included on the front of a ZX Spectrum mag in the UK that had a synth player program on it. This masterpiece was one of the tunes included but never credited. Took me years to find the name of it. Real version is slightly better than that Z80 rendition.

  • @SciFyerGaming

    I more associate it with how the Earth & its biosphere are incredibly delicate and how our planet is currently suffering due to human activity, which is represented by the album cover's depiction of a dead planet's flesh peeling away to reveal a skull underneath. We pollute the atmosphere with CO2 & methane, overfish the oceans & destroy the coral reefs, cut down the rainforests, hunt whole species to extinction. Molecular oxygen is something us humans would die without, yet through our activity we are destroying the forests, coral reefs and algae colonies in the sea which produce this vital gas - its a reminder that no matter how technologically-advanced; special; and persistent we humans think we that may be, we are still lifeforms that depend on and are inherently tied to the biosphere of the Earth and thus if we aren't careful enough and we destroy our planet's biosphere, we will also destroy ourselves along with it

  • @SciFyerGaming

    @SciFyerGaming

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@John-ed2wj Um...There is reason they are called MASS extinctions. Yeah...ONLY between 50-97% of all species on earth were wiped out during each extinction and complex multicellular life ONLY came pretty close to being totally wiped out off the face of the planet each time. However it doesn’t take total annihilation to mess up life on Earth. Even after the Triassic-Jurassic Extinction (argueably the least devastating of all five) it took several millions of years for global ecosystems to recover and countless lineages of unique reptiles; fish; brachiopods cephalopods; insects; and plants were eliminated forever. Just because mass extinctions occurred in the past doesn’t give humans an excuse to wipe out most life on the planet for our selfish short-term motivations right now, especially when we are fully aware that we are the species causing it. The asteroid that killed the dinosaurs 66 million years ago and the super volcanic eruptions that ended the Permian period were natural “acts of god”: events that no life form on Earth at the time could control or stop from happening. However us humans are fully in control of what happens next during this looming biodiversity crisis. If you saw someone who was gravely-injured from a car crash on the side of the road, but who could be saved with proper help, would you help them if you were able to to or do you just let them die all because “oH wElL...pEoPlE hAvE dIeD iN cAr CrAsHeS bEfOrE, sO wHo CaReS.” If all humans had resorted to defeatism when faced with crisis, we would have all been dead a very long time ago. Ethics aside, a more selfish reason to care about extinction events, is that humans rely on the health of the Earths biosphere and countless species. Much of our food can be traced back to pollination by bees and if bees collapse/decline, much of our food will be gone. For a specialized; high resource-consuming; relatively large bodied species, who haven’t been on the planet for a terribly long time in the scale of geological time, humans are almost certainly NOT going to be among the last few meek survivors of a devastating worldwide calamity.

    lo tenía como cortina musical de presentación el noticiero argentino de los años 1980. qué revolución fue y lo sigue siendo. un mozart de los años nuevos. cuánta inspiración de este joven músico francés. en Argentina ha sido muy apreciado. lamentablemente no se tiene mucha información sobre su actividad musical en estos años al menos acá.

    Se realmente existe extraterrestres andando sobre a Terra, Jean Michel Jarre é um deles...outro “ET” 😆 seria Vangelis, monstro tão quanto Jarre. Suas músicas são como um afago n’alma, me faz viajar! Sem dúvida alguma são verdadeiros gênios ou magos dos teclados. 👏🏻👽

    I remember working with my uncle saving hay and making cocks of hay in the five acre field in Banduff. I had a small portable transistor radio, it was a beautiful sunny day. and we stopped to drink cold tea and ham sandwiches. I was 10 years old. I turned on the radio and Oxygen began to play,I had never heard such music like it before, then something weird and strange happened, I kinda went into a reverie and had a heightened and enhanced experience of everything around me. Everything the birds, trees nature itself began to shimmer. It lasted for about three minutes or so and then I came out of it . I also saw people wearing old fashioned working farm clothes from another time, but they were unaware of me. It was a very, very strange and weird feeling and experience. I’ve never had such an experience again, but remember it clearly as if it happened yesterday.

    This brings back memories of a vinyl record I had with this tune. There were 3 other tunes on the same record by Jarre. The first ( the one playing here) puts me in mind of movements of the earth ie. molten lava. The second- a bird soaring in the air: number 3 - flames crackling: Number 4 - ocean waves. I think the 4 tunes were representing earth, sky, fire and water.
