After Lully, I think de Mondonville is my favourite composer. I've only ever listened to his grands motets, but every single one of them has made me adore his music all the more.

Agreed. Mondonville is a little different from many of his contemporaries and quite refreshingly so. I highly recommend his “In Exitu Israel”.

This is just stunning, and to me, elements of classical-era style can be heard so much more than his previous existent grand motets composed just 5 years earlier in 1743. The amazing final fugue (is it technically a fugue though…!?) where each voices entry appears to push the music up a semitone is absolutely astonishing!!

I think is a very good interpretation of this masterwork of Cassanea de Mondonville. I'll compare with the most famous one (Les Arts Florissants) that's including Dominus Regnavit and In Exitu Israel. İt's always a pleasure to have more interpretations to compare .....

@@pietrolandri6081 I think you'll find that they (Arts Florissants) sing mostly out of tune and miss out a lot of the required finesse. This performance although superior has several stylistic issues, but then again the music is quite demanding technically.

@@chrysalifourfour they definitely dont sing 'mostly out of tune' LMAO thought this version does sound better in some ways, maybe because the recording is much more recent i think.
