awesome 😍
This is brilliant to watch, I've just had to sell my bugeye wagon. I miss the car so much.

Aww no way! No doubt another one will come along in the future 🙂
Beautiful colour grading on the external shots and absolutely amazing audio 🙌Hopefully I can get a WRX this summer as my first car (Don't tell me it's a bad idea, I already know and I don't care😉)

Thanks heaps! Colour grade is just sLog3 to Rec709 with some sweet dark spots top right and bottom left from my ND Filter 🫠 As for the WRX - it's a great idea! As long as you take care of it, it'll take care of you. Don't get me wrong, they have their issues but so does any other car. At the end of the day, if it puts a smile on your face when you drive it, who gives a fk what the internet says 🙂

@@hamish_does_stuff I'll be smiling that's for sure. 😁You'll hear from me again when I get to that point, whether it be sooner or later 😌
Up here in Illinois, I have a buddy that has a bugeye WRX but he has the JDM EJ in it with an FMIC and he added the HKS BOV and had it tuned on 93. He wrenches on it himself and it's fun as hell. I got to drive it once and only got away cleanly once given the pucked clutch. I tried my best but apparently I couldn't pick it up fast enough though I never stalled. The smaller displacement running to 8K is so much fun! I already have a GV8 STI that's been built with a rotated turbo setup but it's redline is about 7.6k. if I were to get a JDM import, it might not be a Subie...unless it is a blobeye, meaneye or bugeye wrx wagon. Also an EVO 8 wagon is HIGH up on the list because I had no idea those existed up until about 2 years ago. Also, I do like the mic setup. I'm going to get some externals to make a similar video to this. The ones I already have are from interior mics.

Yeah they're great fun eh! A GC8 STi is definitely on the dream list, one of every generation from the early '90s to '06 would be the ultimate goal if money was no object.
Bloody cool, sound quality is amazing. What camera/mics are you using? And I'm assuming the thing with the dials is syncing the mic audio? Love the video

Hey man, camera is a GoPro 12 with an ND Filter for nailing the frame rate / motion blur using the ProTune settings. Audio - Saramonic Wireless Lav set (Blink500 is the model from memory). 2x Rode Lav Mic's (engine + exhaust as in the video). Zoom H6 portable recorder for capturing the audio. I'll have to make a quick video up at some point going through everything 🙂

I have the same turbo on my 04 forester xt, sounds amazing, I love the bov I’m definitely going to purchase one, what spring are you using?
@hamish_does_stuff

Just the spring that it came with - you can adjust the tension to suit 🙂
any reason you went with the vf48? the vf30 or even the vf39 spool way quicker. perhaps you want that top end torque?
@hamish_does_stuff

When I bought the car the previous owner had already done it as the old vf30 cracked its exhaust housing as they do. If I ever go down the route of aftermarket ECU and supporting mods for a little more power I'll probably go for a Blouch or something so happy to leave this as it is for now 🙂
You running a tmic or front mount? That sounds mental

Thanks man! Just the factory tmic on this one. Only making factory power so haven't looked much into fmic setups.
in your opinion, how does it handle when it’s being pushed?
@hamish_does_stuff

Honestly, I've never really pushed this car beyond what this video shows. Generally speaking I'm a pretty mellow driver, especially on public roads. In saying that, it's fitted with API coilovers (I don't know a lot about the brand, they were installed before export from Japan). The only other improvements are new genuine bushings throughout for the swaybars and such. Bridgestone Potenza RE003 tyres too for what it's worth - nothing too special but sticky enough for standard driving conditions 🙂
should have saved money and got a WRX if you drive like that .. soft on the corners

Haha probably could have yep! Definitely a bit of a nana but I have kids to go home to and same for whoever is coming the otherway. No interest in becoming a statistic - It's all about enjoying it at the end of the day I reckon.
