having just replaced the starter on a JD 6300, you have amazing patience. JD actually makes/sells a tool just for that job - looks like a 3/8 x 6 or 8 inch hex bolt with the end of a 12 point box wrench welded to the end. Cost $82 and one week wait time.

David, we've just took the starter off of our 6300 and had to order the wrench as well. The question know is how do you get the starter back on???!!?

What a PITA, I like to utilize those magnetic trays to put the nuts & bolts in when tearing crap apart. Good Job !

I cut down an 8mm Allen key to fit. The 1/2 inch stub I cut off the allen key, I shoved in the bottom bolt and drove it with an 8mm ring spanner. Was a prick of a job.

We have a 6200 and a 6330 they are a pain to work on they weren't made for people with fat fingers. It would have been a lot better video if you would have gotten it all back together and it still wouldn't have started. We would have seen a take down!!!😁

Is there just 2 bolts holding the starter? I ha e to do this job on my 6400. My extra step is i have to undo my exhaust and it wont start to get the loader in the air. Not looking forward to this....

I'm trying to remove one of the same tractor right now got you got the top 1 off just fine but that bottom fucking bolt between the frame and oil Pan I walked away I walked away Try to swivel but you can't get the swivel over the nut without hitting the starter

From what I remember the only way is with a short wrench. I know it’s torture to do cause had to do it a few times.

I can tell you…..I had at least 12 different wrenches but none seemed to work. Finally, after some choice words, I got the closed end of one of my cheapest Chinese wrenches….could move it about 1/4” and it broke loose….then it was a matter of a punch and a finger and spin it off……what a PITA Btw, if you happen to short the lead to the solenoid to ground, it will cause a relay to fail, it’s located under the floor in the housing that houses the 12+- lugs on the side of the tractor….unbelievable.

Bad place for a repair. Wouldn't have helped you here but sometime you might want to fire up a youtube live with one cam and hook up to it with your phone for a better view of something you cant see on the back side.
