JCB launches a new-generation 2024 backhoes - with multi-directional driving ability... and lasers!

Last week (ended 16 February 2024) at its World HQ in Staffordshire, JCB unveiled its new generation of backhoe loaders, updating its 3CX, 4CX and 5CX with a host of innovative new features. iVT editor Tom Stone was there to find out more about the new vehicles, which for the first time include DualDrive, a new system which enables a backhoe to be driven at low speeds with the seat facing to the rear. Other key developments include: single loader lever to reduce operator effort; revised direction control for quicker and easier use; return-to-grade function for improved performance; upgraded quickhitch with wider fork carriage... and lasers! JCB backhoe experts Ed Lovatt and Tom Wheatley were on hand to talk about and demonstrate some of the new features as JCB's Kevin Quarry demonstration centre.

No one seems to market or mention that all 4 tires being the same size beats the hell out of any normal backhoe when using the loader
Still 40 years behind Huddig😂
I remember the electronic handbrake on a 2cx that nearly got me killed on a bypass when it suddenly came on and stopped me in my tracks .
Technology is only as good as the ongoing support, nice to see stuff like not spinning around to change dig positions, great productivity enhancement but I'm a bit wary of electronic everything and the dirty environment mix😮
For the younger operator? Even JCB have gone woke!
Amazing, they are finally on par with what huddig and others have been doing for like 10 years, lol.
Oh woooooow Nice 👍
Steelwrest and Econ been modifing 4CX a good many years to have dual drive and about time too JCB
With a thumb , It would be useful to pile logs and stuff
My 2008 JCB 1cx did this.
Job Completely Boloxed. 3cx broke me inside
They will NEVER beat the first grey cabs
What’s the go with the “expert” calling the backhoe the excavator ? WTF !

Yes anyone knows they are called diggers.
Huddig ,s idea ???
Need a thumb and adjustabl ejbucket forks
Now they just need to add a tow hitch to the backhoe loder and stick steer drive to the excvators.

@@samfordham684If they have to be taxed for road use, they’re taxed in a class called ‘special vehicle’. This class of vehicles isn’t allowed to tow. I have one on the farm and years ago you could tax them as tractors, but this was changed, and they can no longer be classed as a tractor, unless the rear backhoe is removable, like some old MF’s were. £165.00 I believe for the year.
They are great machines with very low consumption working with the arm. But it is almost impossible to beat an excavator between 4.5 and 9 tons combined with a small transport truck.
Pretty good…. a knuckle on the dipper would be a good future add-on for highways mowing etc, it would help with stability as the dipper could be in line with the machine with the boom to the side. 🙂👍
Terberg dock shunters have had a reversible driving position for years, nothing new here.
More electronics to go wrong, as an owner operator I have had jcb and would never go back to them, let down so much on promises! 180% are a thing of the past,360% are here to stay, no making mud, sit in one place and work

You're so right....my mate ran his own plant firm....3cx electronics crap...I hired one for a day....wouldn't change gear, wouldn't shift up until I went over a bump in road....then dropped into 4th...he got rid of most of his 180s no one wants them....

Looks like there is still some way to go before JCB catches up with Lännen and Huddig.

GREAT! driving around with no mirrors. Can't wait for the law suits following accidents on site.
make it easier for a less skilled person to operate? surely that is asking for other problems?
More rubbish to go wrong , computer plug in crap. Wake up JCB rubbish con 🤑
They come out with some shite , laser if you’re worth your salt
Laser driven blade ? Euh it’s only clipping on it the Leica laser and visual receiver …. Seriously it’s a joke.
What he's really saying is they're trying to make it millennial and GenZ proof. Yeah. Good luck with that.
