The JBL Charge 5 has been one of my favorite and most used speakers for the past year. Its a mid sized speaker with a decent battery life, and transducer, tweeter and dual passive radiator set up. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with the Charge 5. But then there’s the new Sony XE300… if you’re looking for a mid sized speaker and youre trying to choose between the Charge 5 and XE300… lets see which ones right for you.

I went with JBL charge 5. It was $130 on Amazon and it came with a speaker case straight from JBL. You just can't go wrong with that.

Yeah imma stick with my XB33's, and when the time comes, replace them with hopefully whatever comes after the XE300. Not gonna lie I feel jipped that I have to wait 4 years from when I got my speakers to actually upgrade them. I love the XB33's, I know some people don't like them but they're missing the best feature. In stereo mode they sound best. Most reviewers only have one. As a singular speaker, it's good, but two? That's more than the sum of their parts.

Feels like I made the best decision to buy a JBL instead of Sony recently, especially when it's now in a more discounted price. It's loud and well suited in various genres especially rock and metal. The downside is it doesn't have an AUX input unlike it's predecessor so when I'm using it with my Panasonic portable CD player, I bought recently a USB Bluetooth audio transmitter/receiver from Ugreen, connected to that while using JBL's power bank feature to power that, and it's all good.

I've always owned JBL speakers but I just had to buy another one after a battery issue, I tested both the Charge 5 and the Sony XE300 at the store and the Charge 5 is definitely clearer and the bass quality is much better. I was considering getting the Sony but I'm glad I decided to stick with JBL, I use the speaker pretty much all day every day and JBL has been pretty reliable for me.

I have owned a JBL charge 3 for years. It finally got distorted at louder volumes. I've owned a JBL charge 5 for the past year and it has been great! Battery life is good and it sounds good too. I recently purchased a Turtlebox and I will never look back. It blows the other speakers mentioned out of the water! Xb33 is 84.2 decimals and the Charge 5 is 94 decimals. It's definitely gonna be at a higher price point but this thing is 120 decibels, fully waterproof, built like a tank, and very crisp with a 25 hour playback time. It also has auxiliary input. The only cons for me are that it doesn't have XLR input, USB C as a charge option, costs $400, and weighs 10 pounds. With that being said I don't see many scenarios where I will leave it at home in place of the charge 5 tbh. I can't wait to get a second one so I can run them in stereo! You definitely get what you pay for. Thanks for the sweet review and I would love to hear your take on the Turtlebox if you get a chance. Best wishes to ya! 🔊😎🤙

The JBL sounds louder, but the sound is distorted which is uncomfortable to listen to. So the sound quality is definitely not good. The "instrument separation" is only arbitrary, normally it's done by stereo/surround sound, so with mono speaker you won't get any real spacial instrument separation.

Sony as a company has completely given up on their portable speaker line lol, they continually release new stuff every year and they had the same segment of speakers as other companies such as anchor or JBL but when you compare them to those Brands like Marshall as well they end up costing the same but sound the worst😅

Didn't expect Sony to make their mid size speaker worst. Sony's XB33 a lot better compare to Sony XE300. The design's quite bland unlike XB33 which has it's significant light show. and what's more it also has aux port going with it. Comparing it to JBL Charge 5, the Charge 5 easily outdone Sony's XE 300. JBL Charge 5 can handle it's low and highs at 87% volume while Sony XE300 had to go up to 100% volume just to keep up with JBL Charge 5. And aside from that Sony's XE300 sounds muffled compared to JBL Charge 5 sound clarity thanks to it 's 10W tweeter handling all the highs. While JBL Charge 5 does have a better balanced sound profile than the Sony's XE300, playing it at 100% volume makes compression artifacts quite noticeable. 🙇🏿‍♂️🙇🏿‍♂️🙇🏿‍♂️

Keeping the "low"! What's your reference. By low do you mean bass? If so Sony has no lower bass extension. Its all upper bass meaning its boosted above 100 Hz. While Charge 5 has more deep bass extension which topples to 50 Hz.
