Still surprising that a flip could almost get the sounds of a charge

Did you notice that the JBL Flip 5 is slanted upwards so the speaker is NOT facing the microphone. However, the JBL charge 3 Is directly facing the microphone giving louder sound.

I'm not into bluetooth speakers but it's vacation time and here at the beautiful coastline of Croatia (the land of thousand islands) i will spend one month so i bought JBL Charge 3 four weeks ago. Five days later i bought Xtreme 2 cuz i liked the JBL Charge 3 sound. I paired those two speakers and... WOW! It's not as powerful as the Boombox but the Charge 3 fills out the mids nicely and combined with Xtreme 2, it delivers a powerful stereo sound. Feels like they do belong together. Now, each time we go to the beach i take both of them with me. :) My humble opinion: get 2 JBL speakers, doesn't matter if Charge 3 or 4 combined with Xtreme 2 and there you'll have powerful crystal clear stereo sound for $350. Price in Europe: Charge 3 120 €, Xtreme 2: 240 € (Sorry for my broken English, it's my fourth language). Thanks for review.

Adam James but soundwise the Charge 3 sucks. It has a deep at 5kHz, the rest of the treble is spiky. On top if that it has a lot of intermodulation distortion, which is horrible. The Flip 4 sounds thinner, but that's to be expected from the size.

I could not recommend it tho. It has the same kind of shitty ass battery as xtreme. My charge 3-s battery just swell up and held no charge. My xtremes battery is also done after 60-ish charge cycles. The charge 3 got a 5000 mah lithium battery tho which is swappable as i use molex female connector on the charge 3 and can make as many extra batteries for it as i like(while the speaker itself is still waterproof.

I think xB 31 is better for inside. Because the bass is way better. It's also louder than the charge 3. But it's also perfect for outside use

To be honest, I don't think the Flip 5 is that bad. Sure, the Charge 3 is a tad bit louder and has something there in the bass area that the Flip 5 doesn't. But it does actually sound clearer a lot of the time. Not bad at all.

Today (May 2021) i buy used Charge 3 and im very satisfied.

I bought 2 charge 3 today. If you were me would you exchange 1 for the flip 5? I'm going to be pairing/syncing them sometimes.

Hey let’s not focus on the Xtreme Family, We need to focus on the much forgotten BoomBox, which was released in 2017 3 years to now, we still don’t have a 2nd one. JBL should look into that project instead of forgetting about it. The only issues they need to fix is to maintain the bass up at higher volumes like they have done with each and every PartyBox & give it more watts/Power & also keep the feature to switch between different sound modes. Can’t wait to see what we’ll get next year 2020 Will we Soo more extensions to the PartyBox Family, Flip & Xtreme idk but would Be nice to see💯

The charge 3 is louder yes but in person at lower volumes, the flip 5, even the 4 is more clear than the charge 3. I returned the charge 3 for a flip 4 a year ago.

They’re both 20w, so I was expecting the sound to be close, but the charge 3 is stereo and it’s larger, so it has more surface area to push out bass, so it’s not surprising it still has the advantage despite being older

Charge 4 better, personally owner of Xtreme 1 and sony xb30, yes, charge 4 loses stereo and speakerphone, but clarity maintains at every level, also the flip5 because of the new mono driver that is better in producing and maintain the sound, just like the onyx studio 5 and 6, it sounds really2 clean

I listened this on my jbl charge 3

Still waiting for the Charge 5. Hopefully they stick with 2 speakers maybe a smidge bigger and louder like 30w each speaker. And please add an aux input please. If not and JBL uses 1 speaker the i will buy 2 of them do proper measurements cut in half and bring both sides together 2 speakers 2 batteries will still have the 2 passovers on each end so well just wait and see.

With a flip 5 the more interested in the base not so much of the mid and high arrange And the charge 3 is not so heavy on bass cause it's trying to keep trouble and mid in check so given you the full dynamic range of the speaker Charge freeze bigger last week and handle bit more bass and more speaker Room and flip 5 is smaller so the driver smaller so it can't deliver more based on the charge 3 can

Please turn on the bass boost mode of both and then record

Of course the charge 3 sounds louder what the hell do you guys think

Definitely charge 3. Unless you're going for more portability, then go for flip 3 SE... Haha they go way cheaper

Ive had nearly 30 different bt speakers over the last 3 yrs, but never had ch3. I recently bought ch4 and I hope it will last. Ive heard that many people complain on farting drivers from charge 3 after a while. Do any of you had this problem? We will see how this single driver in ch4 will stand over some period of time.

In my opinion i go for the charge 3 for sound and since i like bass the Charge 3 has more clean bass but their bass are almost the same. But in highs the charge 3 is way better and cleaner and louder. For some reason they put a better EQ chip in Charge 3 or maybe the speaker diameter or the passive radiator in Charge 3 is bigger. Plus the size helps which gave it more bass.

Hmm. I personally think the opposite. Not trying to feud lol but I was gifted the flip 5 a few months back, and yesterday I snagged a 2nd hand charge 3 just to compare. I find the f5 is far far cleaner in mids and highs than charge 3. Maybe my charge has lost some speaker health? Idk but I find the charge 3 only has the upper hand in the bass department. Which isnt by very much. Will likely be sticking with my f5 more often

Charge 3 sounds so much louder and cleaner. Could it be an equalization difference?

It was very helpful, probably going to buy the charge 3, But I think that overall, the flip is taking the battle cause of the fact that it can go into a little Backpack. Personally, I have heard that with 100 volume, the flip is loosing alot of little sounds that the charge isn't

Charge 3 is the clear winner with bigger battery 6000mah, usb 2.0, can use as powerbank, more surround sound. The only part where flip 5 wins is it's much smaller size

I was gifted a flip 5 a couple months ago and snagged a charge 3 yesterday. Honestly thought the charge 3 would blow the f5 away but I personally will stick to the flip5. You'll love the charge 3 though. Both are really awesome speakers.

I thought the bass would be same because both speakers are 20 watts and has frequency response of 65 hertz . Charge 3 wins the battle🤜

I don't understand these reviews because my charge 3 doesn't sound that good or is as loud

I can get two flip 5's for the price of the charge 3. And I have other jbl's to match up to the flip 5.

Jbl took a step back imo when they came out with the charge 4, I've had my charge 3 for about 5 years.. got the charge 4 about a year ago.. the sound is different.. not in a bad way.. buy when it comes to dynamics and volume the charge 3 is the winner.. sounds changes for the worse on the charge 4 when increased.. the charge 3 is simply an animal.. takes on everything.. thought about getting the charge 5.. but I think I can wait longer..

Doesnt matter if JBLl remove a driver. they opted to use a race track WOOFER which can produce highs better than the charge 3, and it also has more excursion than the charge 3. I also Dont understand when it comes to "volume" the charge 3 is the winner? although its 10W less in power?

I have a jbl charge 3 and a flip 5. They are sounding a lot better in rlf(real Life). The flip 5 is loud. Good bass, sounds good. The charge 3 is louder, more bass, sounds the same.

Ive been looking everywhere for this comment. I was gifted the f5 a few months back, and snagged a nice deal for the charge 3 just yesterday. Pretty sure i'll still be using the f5 more. I think it beats the charge 3 alot in the mids and highs. Charge 3 is definitely not as clear, but it is also bigger, so it has slightly better bass- but not by very much.

(proceed if you're on android) Do you own and use a JBL portable Bluetooth speaker frequently? important part If so can you connect your speaker to your phone, then go to the developer option ( there are many videos that will show you how to do that) scroll down and then reply to me your -Bluetooth codec ( remember, JBL speaker only, I suggest SBC will be the one) -Bluetooth audio sample rate ( i really need this one) 44.1 or 48 khz -Bluetooth audio bits rate Also if you are comfortable pls tell me the name of the android device that you are using .
