JB Mauney Challenges Rookies to Ride Bulls

Ойын-сауық

Wonder what it's like to ride 1,600 pound raging bulls?
groovelife.com
We were challenged by 2x world champion PBR bull riding legend, JB Mauney, to hop on the back of a flamin' mad hunk of hamburger with only 2 days of training. We hired pro-coach, Ty Rinaldo from TZ Ranch to teach us how to do it.
Ty teaches us all the basics, from weight balancing to understanding what a bull thinks when you jump on his back. The only thing keeping us from backing out is the humiliation of going back home without a ride.
Who's gonna hold on longest? Can we get an 8-second ride after just 2 days of training?
Let's go to the rodeo.

to me JB is living proof it takes balance to ride a bull, not a body builder. you only need enough strength to control your own body.

Chris Adams being short and light is a huge advantage, the more weight you got and the higher it sits on the bull, the more leverage is working against you. That’s why if you look on PBR right now, you’ll hardly ever see a bull rider taller than 5’10” and 160 lbs.

I rode bulls in my 20s...it was fun..i grew up riding horses bareback all summer ..then trained horses off and on...it was natural to ride bulls...but covered again in my 30s at a small invitation playday..tore my groin and half of my right thigh muscle...and my right shoulder on a junior stock rank one...he blew out ..I double clutched...away from my hand...and it all went down from there...that was it...it's a young man's game no doubt...JB Mauney..ranks up with the best bull riders of all time.. in my opinion...

I love to watch JB! He is doing our country a whole lot of good by teaching others these skills. I remember when he went to Brazil with his friends.(The joke about the "American Dollars" got me laughing!) So much respect for those bullfighters that do amazing life-saving techniques! Sitting on the bull's head to keep the bull rider safe is something I want to go back and watch again and again. At 69 years old, I choose to be a "spectator only" at The Spooner and Stanley Rodeos back up here in Wisconsin. My good friend and fellow horse riding pal from little on up passed away a few years ago now. Her son also rode and trained horses, and he rode some broncs but took more of an interest in bull riding. Then he became a bullfighter and taught me a little bit about "dancing with a bull" while keeping an eye on where they're going to step..next to stay in a safe zone. The last I heard, he was raising his own bulls up here in Wisconsin.

Not a chance my friend... I paid my dues... Never want that feeling of the first few back again... Never want that feeling of the first hundred back... It's all just a blur then... It's the feeling of riding the rank ones we want to relive over an over. Luckily, with the way we are psychologically made up, and how the brain works, we can load those rides back into the old computer (our brain) and relive them over and over... The better you become at meditation, visualizing, and focusing, the better that becomes.

Now my son is 15 and wants to ride. Would LOVE to meet JB to just get him going the right way. After all the broken bones and all the other injuries. I can still say it was the best time of my life! You meet the best people at a rodeo. Most REAL cowboys will be there and help you out when you need it, and you can trust them!

I'm a canadian born danish guy in Denmark, who wanted to do stupid stuff like this from very young. Not a chance irl, but I did get a couple of teen girls to let me put a rope in their horses, and whip their asses, till they threw me off. My brain knows, that I'm far to old and broken to even think of it, but I would not have expected the adrenaline rush I got watching this, if I had thought about it before watching. Must be cool to have lived it out.

Dangerous sport is right... Sitting out twelve weeks with a broken ankle (distol fracture of the fibula) and toe now from an event in Claremore Oklahoma new year's eve... Over the years, I have broken just about everything, many of them twice. As well as multiple surgeries due to various injuries... Still the thing I love doing the most, and wouldn't trade any of it. If I changed anything at all, I would want the heart and try I have now, riding the senior pro circuits, back when I was younger. I also wouldn't have taken years off from riding for my second wife. Dumbest thing that I ever did.
