They have 7 albums, one song from each album to get you started... that sounds like the perfect "7 by Enter Shikari" if you ask me 😉

So glad you finally did Enter Shikari! Yes, it's spelled Rou but pronounced ROW - as in "OW, I danced so hard to this song I hurt my brain" and I think I've seen them in concert 8 times and they are that energetic. I agree with others that this band should be considered for a 7by. They are HUGE in the UK and have been around for over 10 years. Their sound has developed so much from more of a punk-synth to what it is today. Thank you!

Honestly for me their older stuff and how they work the style to the subjects the sing about are second to none. Arguing with Thermometers or System/Meltdown.. just.. what an album. Their energy is very very high live. Completely indepent too always have been. It can be easier to sing higher without the British accent. It's usually called a singers accent. Where he uses more rounded vowels to get really up there and not sound too throaty it's usually more practical to make it more forward placed and a smiley shaped and that has a natural tendency of sounding more American as that accent is quite forward placed generally. But as you can see that is not a hard and fast rule.

Hey David, British singer here! Not in a group atm and not known by anyone at all but been performing live with bands in an American accent for 7 years now!! I think, it mostly comes down to who your core vocal influences are- Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy is my biggest inspiration even though I can't reach his godly 3rd octave notes as a woman haha, but I love the juxtaposition between his soulful voice and runs to their punky power pop music. I've gone back and discovered many local and core British artists that I love now but was raised listening to the radio and dance music, so didn't ingest alot of it in my early years. It CAN be a conscious choice, though, because I have learned how to sing in my natural accent after learning the songs of bands from my area! It's like "code switching" if you've ever heard of it, changing your mannerisms and personality based on who you're around at the time, but for the voice.

I've seen Enter Shikari a couple of times live and they definitely bring this energy to the live shows, they're just getting the whole room to move. And about the accent thing: I think especially recently you get to hear more british accents in alternative music because there now is a british music scene. in the early 2000s and before everyone tried to emulate the sound of american alternative music and also learned to sing from american alternative music. Then there were a few band that started singing in their actual accents because they were sick of hiding their natural accents and wanted to show some national pride (Twin Atlantic from Scotland) or their accents were so thick that they couldn't hide them (Bring Me The Horizon and While She Sleeps from Sheffield/Yorkshire). And from there other bands saw that and thought "hey, why aren't we singing in our hometown accents?" And now you hear all kinds of different accents in the british alternative scene

Nice to be back btw, I haven't been interested in much of the stuff you've covered recently but these boys are the real deal (not to sound ungrateful or Karen-like, I know those bands have their fans haha)! Shikari's mashups of post hardcore/djent and trance and drum and bass music are so quintessentially English lmao, it's like someone put all the popular 90s/2000s sounds from our British Isles is a random band generator, but it's so charming imo. Went to their concert to see their opening act last year and left a big Shikari fan, yes Rou is that energetic and has all the moves live! I'm gonna go ahead and support the rallying for a 5-by (or 7-by!) in these here comments and here are my personal hats for the ring!: "Sorry You're Not a Winner" (their first big scene hit), "Arguing With Thermometers", "Torn Apart", "The Void Stares Back" (ft. Shi-kar-ee, to quote Roughton (Rou pronounced like plough). Energy live is 10x this on stage and 50x from crowd. They blend all types of music into a post punk metal shell but it’s so much more than that. Shikari is a family you care about the music, the band and their political, social and economic view points. You mosh, you rave and you have an awesome time, I honestly don’t think you could get this vibe outside of the UK, hence to not be true to your British (English) roots would loose so much of the artistry and probably their appeal outside of the UK. More please!
