I want to talk a little bit about this mouthpiece that I got in the mail a couple days ago from Japan.
This is a Gottsu Signature Sepia Jazz mouthpiece, which is quite new on the market, as I know. It’s an amazing piece; it’s made from two different materials, as you see. This part is solid silver, and this part is brass. This already is probably amazing work to put together these two materials. And the mouthpiece has a really jazzy, vintage, Linkish sound, which I love, and with very rounded sidewalls, which I also love. This gives me the power to put air into the mouthpiece and it resonate amazingly. I love this mouthpiece, I love the sound, I love the control of this mouthpiece. Especially interesting, the built-in ligature. As you see, it:s built in with the rail, and it presses the reed on four points very stably but lets the reed ring, swing, vibrate, which is very, very important. And as I said, a great solution, a great work anyway. Every part of this mouthpiece is a fantastic, fantastic job - every little part. Especially for me, very importantly, it comes with this saver plastic part, the cap. Because as I am an old fashioned player, when I have a couple gigs in a row, I leave the reed on the mouthpiece because it’s good that the reed find its place on the mouthpiece. And I don’t move it until Im not playing (for) a couple of days. So that’s why it’s important to put in the case the mouthpiece with the reed and this little plastic part. A great mouthpiece. 数日前に日本から届いたマウスピースについて少しお話ししたいと思います。これはGottsu Signature Sepia Jazzのマウスピースで、比較的新しいものだと思います。このマウスピースは驚くべきもので、二つの異なる素材で作られています。この部分は純銀で、こちらの部分は真鍮です。これだけでもこれら二つの素材を組み合わせるのは素晴らしい技術だと思います。そして、このマウスピースはとてもジャジーでビンテージ感のあるLinkの音を持っており、これが私が好きな点です。そして、非常に丸みを帯びたサイドウォールもあり、これも好きな要素です。これによってマウスピースに空気を送り込み、驚くほどに響かせることができます。このマウスピースが大好きで、その音が好きで、このマウスピースのコントロールも大好きです。特に興味深いのは、付属のリガチャーです。お分かりの通り、レールと一体化しており、リードを安定して4つのポイントで押さえつけつつ、同時にリードを鳴らし、振動させることができます。非常に重要なポイントです。そして、申し上げたように、素晴らしいアイデアであり、素晴らしい作品です。このマウスピースのあらゆる部分が素晴らしい技であり、すべての小さな部分もそうです。 特に私にとって重要なのは、このセーバー・プラスチック部品、キャップが付いていることです。 というのも、私は古いタイプの奏者なので、2、3回続けて演奏するときは、リードをマウスピースにつけたままにしておくんだ。 2、3日演奏しないうちは動かさない。 だから、リードとこの小さなプラスチックのパーツが付いたマウスピースをケースに入れることが重要なんだ。 素晴らしいマウスピースだ。 ありがとうございました。Gottsu 素晴らしい。 ありがとうございました。
