@@stxfdt1240 please do some research before you comment. Jaya Bhaduri/ Bachchan's father- Taroon Kumar Bhaduri was from Jamalpur, Bangladesh. At that time of course current Bangladesh was ij united bengal province of British India

Why speak in English?

She appears to be self conscious and artificial. Also not a very observant person or may be she has not done her homework as she has hardly narrated concrete anecdotes.

True. But it is also because she stayed with her hindi-speaking in-laws and her career mates, neighbors, servants and social circle in Mumbai were all mostly from Hindi Bollywood . So her kids hardly got any Bangla exposure.

+Sangeetha Mallya do u know kavitha krrishnamurthy the singer ? She speaks chaste Tamil inspite of Bombay bred and also married a Tamil iyer as well. Manna deys wife as taught her daughter Malayali inspite of never staying in Kolkata and also born and brought up in Bangalore and taught in Mumbai. Ananth mahadevan born brought up in mumbai speaks chaste Mallu both kids speaks mallu and marathi as well inspite of having Marathi wife. Sanjay Nirupam congress leader from mumbai both kid knows to speak Marathi. kajol knows to speak Marathi inspite of having Bengali father. So lots of example . Sharmila was a greedy women and jaya a spineless Bengali . Usha uthup stays in Kolkata throughout her life but her kid speaks fluent malayali . Raghuram Rajan can speak fluent Tamil inspite of delhi born tamilian and so is most of RK Puram Tamilian community

Yes, besides her own will, it is also about how much power the mother of the child hold in a particular relationship or household . Sharmila converted and is no doubt totally unqualified to be in this discussion about honorable Bengalis valuing their culture. However, Jaya ji is not the same as Sharmila as she actually is a very proud Bengali in her traits as well as mannerisms.

+Sangeetha Mallya honestly this both are psuedo bongs whose surnames are disrespect to our community. How many times they come to kolkata and how many bengali films she has acted ? Smita patil and Tanuja being a Marathi was much more adorable in Kolkata film circle than either of two.
