Jay Slater: Missing teen’s case causes online conspiracy theories | Darryl Morris

“I found complex humans driven by an intrigue of what was a genuine mystery.”
Much like the case of Nicola Bulley, Jay Slater’s disappearance is bringing out the “grief junkies” and conspiracy theories on social media, says Times Radio’s Darryl Morris.

I think one of three things are possible. 1. He set off on foot without water, maybe fell maybe not, succumbed to the terrian and the heat and has died. 2. The stories circulating online about possible involvement in drugs are true and he's being held or has been disposed of. 3. He's hiding out somewhere so the GoFundMe can get to a nice juicy level and all of a sudden he'll appear or "be found". The grifting is the most suspicious piece of this puzzle for me. What's it for?

It is conspiracy worthy that someone can be part of a vicious armed attack with probable links to class A drugs and not do time with a lack of investment in new prison spaces and lenient courts. The media & police could have been more open with a statement along the lines of 'at this time his disappearance is not believed to be connected to his past criminal activity'.

what is the difference between this case and the one with Dr Michael Mosley? NOTHING. He went off walking at 1.30pm in the heat right in very unstable ground similar to Tenerife, he had no phone with him. This young man for some reason decides instead of staying in the house with the 2 guys he met at a rave, would suddenly get up with no charge on his phone, or water and wonder off into the night in a strange place. Dr Mosely it took 4 days to find his body which was like 32 seconds to a bar, and no one noticed him. This young man goes off not knowing how to get back to his digs, and is now lost. I expect he is in plain sight just no one has found him yet. I bet you he isn't far from where he wondered off from. The terrain is dangerous and confusing even for those who know it well. It would have been very very cold at night he was only wearing light clothes. If he fell and his phone showed where his last signal was, where is the phone? The only odd thing for me is where are the 2 guys, and why didnt they offer to take him home safe or at least encourage him to stay? As to bully case i dont see any resemblance to it whatsoever. Apart from the people following the case who still insist she was murdered. The trouble is now we have the Internet and so many sleuths. This is just a simple case, gets disoriented same as dr mosley. Goes missing the same and sadly i think he will be found the same. IMHO.

@hedgehogwildlifejunction. I'll give you a theory, why he went home with 2 strangers. And why he was wandering around so unprepared the next day - and why it seemed a good idea, to attempt a 10 hour walk. Drugs. I certainly don't know for sure, but it's a distinct possibility. He had been convicted of class A drug use when he was 16, in relation to the machete attack (that he was involved in), on another teenage boy. So he was at a rave on Tenerife. Then meets two guys, who promise him drugs at their apartment. Next day he's still disorientated, and starts making silly decisions.

There’s no mystery as to why so many people became actively involved in Nicolas case. A Mum had dropped her kids off at school, she took her dog for her morning walk, around a route she’d walked a 1000 times before. She then vanished in an instant & remained so, despite the best efforts of Police search teams, mountain rescue teams, dive teams, sonar teams, drones, thermal cameras, IR cameras, helicopters, cadaver dogs, 100s of volunteers, dozens of MSM hacks trampling all over the site, until the day after search teams pull out of the river, 23 days after going missing, a psychic & his friend, having travelled 50 miles on ‘a hunch’ find Nicola in the water, deceased. Nothing strange about that, right?

Most important bit of information is where his phone last pinged... He can't be far from there, he would have walked down a road where he saw a light source or civilisation from that point... Not up a mountain. His "friends" are anything but if he called saying he needs water and they haven't tried to find him and get him back. We're not being told everything here. He's either gone back with these two guys for drugs or sex... Possibly both. The fact he didn't stay overnight with them and he didn't leave hydrated suggests this strongly. Those two need serious questions asked of them; they didn't consider getting him home or has he left unannounced? When he's called a friend they've not sought to help him what was the conversation... She must know what he had been up to from that conversation.

I find the ‘theorising’ bizarre. It’s like the clammer around Princess Diana’s death. There’s huge amounts of emotional reasoning. My view is that people are often estranged from nature. They don’t compute a person simply being lost in nature. It’s easy to get lost. It’s easy to be a young man who makes a series of bad decisions. I get lost in the Lake District; where I know it well and have maps and compass. People just don’t realise how easy it is to be lost in a place like that.
