Jay Shetty Exposé Reveals Contentious Allegations

Despite occasional criticism, Shetty's influence remains largely unchallenged, with even minor critiques swiftly dismissed.
When questioned on his credentials during an appearance on Armchair
Expert, host Dax Shepard defended Shetty as an expert in Indian religions.
However, the specifics of Shetty's expertise were left ambiguous.

We have to do the inner work ourselves. To paraphrase Alan Watts, a guru that tells you he knows all the answers is like someone who takes the watch off your wrist and tries to sell it back to you. Nobody has the answers, and some answers won’t work for everyone, we are all individuals. Create your own quiet space, meditate, less screen time and get amongst nature often. This will give you more clarity than any other human being talking at you will.

As a very spiritual person I don't always understand the drama... We're not reinventing the wheel, everything has already been said, everybody is copying other people and what really counts is if you helped people. Everything comes from one source anyway and we're all just channels. Sure, it would have been more dignified to name the people he copied from, but often this stuff is just infinitely copied again and again, especially on Instagram. The biggest question is: did he help people? I think yes. Even the ones claiming he copied from them are now getting more attention than they would have otherwise. Just because he lived in an Ashram and is sharing advice, doesn't mean he's a saint or claims to be one. He's just a normal dude who wrote a book to help people, and apparently it worked. Just because you don't like a celebrity, doesn't mean they're bad or superficial. In fact it's rather superficial to talk like that about people you never met. I think being a VIP puts a lot of pressure on you, of course they have self help people around them. Nothing bad about that.

I got scammed by a guru 3 months ago.He took money from me didn't do my prayer and then started ignoring me.He is a person that goes onto social media all the time talking about doing good and talking about god all the time.At first i was sceptical about the guru when i looked at his face,he has an arogant face but how stupid of me to go ahead and pay him just to prove that my feelings and intuitive thoughts about him were right in the first place.Next time i know better

Everyone should be allowed to grow and learn. Like you said he is clearing it up. Life happens ots a journey and it's how we learn and respond to situations. Let the man be. He is doing what he can to rectify. And im sure those that need to be compensated will. And also you should remember that past and present and future lives could be a reason why people don't get payout

I once paid a lot of money for a course of his that I don’t think was worth it, to only find out later they sold the same course for 1/5 of the price if you opted out of the live zoom with him and I was never given that option and I never went on those live sessions. I felt like I was tricked into paying way more. Ever since, I have a bit less respect for him. I don’t think he’s evil I just think he is driven by money and fame and not by actually helping people.

I love his content, but I don’t see him as a guru and it’s a little cringy when he tries to appear humble and there’s something fake to it. One of the things that got me to start questioning his whole guru character was when his wife was in a podcast and out of the blue she was crying and saying how difficult it was, I don’t know how to explain it but it seemed like she was going through so much stress and I thought but she is married to one of the insightful “gurus” and still she seems so unhappy. There’s something about him that’s completely fake and taking advantage of other creators
