Me too.

The dynamic that Kevin Ubanks and Jay Leno had was unmatchable during this era of late night.

I grew up watching this show and it was nostalgic.

He did have some really good ones ... I think all the older shows Johnny Carson when I was a kid , David Letterman , Jay Leno , Conan I think all those shows were better than the ones we've had since then . And I also loved Tom Snyder ... he was great ... and a great storyteller .

Wow even on a semi-off night, Leno is still 1000x better than Fallon! The difference, you may ask? Leno is actually funny!

He was very popular for hes time. Filling Johnny shoes no small task

It always cracks me up when he gets booed and he usually says, “Oh shut up!” like at 4:09 🤣

Sometimes Kevin would come up with some really good ones .

The guy was a riot and 1000 times more original than any of the others Loved his quirky off the wall bits like "Will this impress Ed Asner" Jaywalking, or the time he showed up at people's apartments and had them star in their own movie And his cracks about Olive Garden were hilarious

Funny you mention him cracking on Olive Garden because several years ago white rapper Post Malone took late night host Jimmy Fallon out to eat at Olive Garden , and I was making jokes about how that's not even authentic Italian food . You wouldn't believe how many people gave me a hard time and try to argue with me telling me how great Olive Garden is . Jay Leno was way ahead of the Curve that's for sure .

You'd have to eat an awful lot to fill up before the "Tour of Italy" arrived with the canned tomato sauce that tasted like it was made by Chef Boyardee And Fallon is to comedy what the Olive Garden is to a real family owned ristorante in Roma

He was simply the best in the business

JAY: I was looking at some Battle Creek, MI advertisement in the paper, a touristy ad, and it calls itself "The Breakfast Food City..." OK NOW HOW FAAAAT have we gotten in this country and obsessed with eating to call a city "BREAKFAST FOOD...*HANDWAVE*...."

This was i’ll classy time in America. If you had told somebody from that time. That they would’ve laughed at you, but it’s true. Our society has broken down so far.

Oh, ok, that was the year he went prime time! NBC blocked those uploads, but I was able to upload a partial episode with Halle Berry, but I had to splice it frequently to avoid content ID. Lot of work; yet, some people still complained! kzread.info/dash/bejne/pKR7xaaEc7rJnKg.html

They didn't hate any of those people back then. You either had a post 9/11 sense of country and strength or you hated George Bush. Other than that, humor was fully allowed on both sides.

I vividly remembered Leno said "Holy Shiite" in one of his monologues, lol. But seriously, the comedians of today just need to chill out about President Trump and the obvious leftist push. He knows it too - without him, they'll have ZERO material to work with. About the only exception is Conan... somehow I think he was forced go the political route by the higher-ups.

Leno was a wonderful standup comedian in the 80s, just check out his old stuff on Letterman, he's in the zone, sharp as razor. But his Tonight show stuff was painfully bland, and paint by numbers, despite great ratings. I never thought he was fully satisfied with his own performances either.

That's such a vanity exercise of making sure you get Jay shaking hands with fans on camera. The little black spot on the front of his hair is like a black hole for jokes.

Not so much in my opinion. He really is that friendly. I went to one of his shows, and he patiently waited to talk to fans in line to talk with him. He also came out before the show in all denim and was generally warm and very entertaining...even more so than in the show!
