2005 was the first year my parents let me stay up and watch Eurovision with them (I was 8 at the time). The UK and Greece were my favourite entries and they still are. I was very happy Greece won but also upset to see the UK finish so low with a really good song imo and great choreography. Touch my fire will always have a special place in my heart as it was the first Eurovision song I loved.

To be fair Javine had the package hence why she got the job. The voice, the song and the performance. People saying its too Turkish, there were a lot of r&b songs that were using Eastern influences in that time period (think Christina Milian - 'Dip It Low'/ Rakim - 'Truth Hurts', Jamelia - 'DJ'). Sadly the death sentence draw (2nd), too many similar styled songs and sandwiched between two favourites (Hungary and Malta) were what contributed. I think its a good song and any other year we would have scored better. It is probably our most underrated entry. Katie Price who was second in the selection would have probably scored more and stood out with her image and had a more popish song but the right call was made with Javine.

Rock Man Javine was sick during the performance and the Big 4 was disliked by most of the countries this year. Only Turkey, Malta, Cyprus and Ireland gave us point this year. The entry would have suited 2004 as it was hosted in Turkey and this song is Turkish.

@@shianhiggins what so bad about it? You can tell they put alot of passion on stage, need to remember She beaten katie price. Of she did it, it would've been a disaster.

Awesome, but too Turkish for Great Britain's standards. That's why it didn't score higher. If Turkey had gone with this song, it would had been possibly a winner

We have a very diverse culture. I mean, one of my best friend's mother is Lebanese, my great-grandma was Irish, my other friend's mother is from Hong Kong ... English is only a de facto language and not actually official, I've wrote songs and sent them as eurovision ones from the public to the BBC in Finnish, German, Dutch and Spanish.

If this performed between 18 and the end it would have got at least 50 points, but being at the start and the recaps I believe didn't include clips of the songs yet made it become forgotten over Greece etc
