Javier Mendez has got to be up there for MMA coach GOAT. There have been some that have captured the spotlight for a period, like Firas Zahabi, Jackson-Wink, Trevor Whitman, Faber & Team Alpha Male, Mike Brown & ATT, Longo-Serra, there is a huge list, but honesty, What Javier Mendez has done at AKA going back to Cain and King Mo, Josh Koschek, Josh Thompson, DC, Luke Rockhold, Khabib, and now Islam, He must have produced more champs/notable fighters than any of them. Jackson Wink may have more in terms of numbers but they havent had any serious talent for a while. AKA seems like its only growing with even more fighters coming down the pipe.

If two gym mate are competing, Coach Javier mentioned before that he will let them to sort things out between themselves......and one of them usually pull out and train elsewhere. If a new guy wants to come in and are competing against a current AKA fighter, Coach Javier will decline the new guy. Khabib was introduced to AKA and Coach Javier back in 2012...by King Mo himself. King Mo asked Coach Javier if Khabib could train in San Jose and since at that point of time, there was no direct competitor in the LW division in AKA..he gave the green light.

Only MMA media gives this kind of clout to jake paul etc Boxing media doesn't care nearly as much.. I'm a boxing fan (as in I know more than the 5-10 fighters you guys follow) and I could care less about jake paul so do many others like me I don't understand why MMA is giving this guy this type of respect to talk about him all the time when he's not even doing the sport of MMA.
