Javelin vs T-72 | Why Ukraine Wants More Javelin Missiles?

Ғылым және технология

Among the various tank models used by Russia in Ukraine, the T-72 is the most common and has suffered the most casualties.
Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine is already going down in history as the biggest tank slaughter Europe has seen since World War II.
According to some sources Russia has lost 1,450 tanks since the war began, nearly 900 of which have been damaged or destroyed.
Since its introduction, the main battle tank has been one of the most striking elements of the battlefield.
It is impossible not to be intimidated by these metal giants.
But as scary as giants are, almost all of them have a weak spot.
And to exploit that weakness you will need the proper weapon.
FGM-148 Javelin was developed in the latter years of the cold war to fulfill the role of a man-portable and mobile anti-tank weapon that would allow individual soldiers to quickly target tanks and escape to cover before being seen.
This weapon enables a single soldier to move around the battlefield enabling guerrilla warfare tactics to be used against an invading army.
FGM-148 Javelin is a fire and forget missile capable of guiding itself to the most vulnerable region of a tank.

Put some water containers or bags on top of the turret and javelin will be ineffective

The javelins are underperforming compared to their european counterparts on the field in ukraine by far. Don't know why but the operators themselves both nato and american have reported it back.

Javelin is a 20 year old missile and it would have been upgraded over the next few years. Unfortunately many countries such as Germany and Australia purchased the more modern Israeli Spike (4km range) but Israel won't allow them to be exported to Ukraine even if license produced. Never buy Israeli weapons.

If 70% of foreign aid was not stolen but used for armaments then Ukraine might have a chance. The purpose of the war was for arms manufacturers to sell expensive weapons like the $175,000 javelin.

Be objective and also tell us about the 9M133 Kornet against an Abrams or Sherman.. Heck, just compare that Javelin' straight against the Kornet. Kornet penetrates 1300mm, Javelin' 780mm.. When you hype up the stuff, make sure you hype the correct one, LOL.

That at this stage someone is still touting the Javelin - which by all serious accounts has performed far, far worse than expected (unlike the NLAW and the Kornet, both serious anti-tank weapons) - is frankly ridiculous. The real story is that Russia did not ensure adequate force protection in the initial stages of the conflict. However, they've changed that.
