Watching this reminded me of the former Marxist critic Terry Eagleton practicing his sublime art of literary criticism on ridiculously pompous and comically arrogant (but ultimately pitiable) demagogues and charlatans of all shades, especially on the "New Atheists" Hitchens, Dawkins, Harris, Dennet and others ("the Ditchkins" as he calls these noisy, pretentious intellectual hooligans who have become notorious for their ignorance and vileness, and especiall for their ugly Islamophobia). It seems Ahmed Javed is also having savage fun with Mr. Jaun Elia here, training his unique style of verbal pugilism on the man, on Elia the "performer" as he calls him. The right jab here, the left punch there! Then a creatively deceptive left-right combination, one lavishing him with praise "as a good poet" while the other taking him by violently critical suprise, as "not a great poet"! Elia the tragi-comic character, both as poet and as man, his dark shades and unkempt long hair, his inflated ego and sense of his manliness and masculinity that the most feminine of the species finds so charming only because of their profound hatred for authentic and traditional manliness and masculinity, the perennially deluded Don Juan, the name dropping postmodern sophist, the false "anything goes" nihilist prophet of the naive, gullible and often bamboozled youths! All of it we are entertained here with. Ahmed Javed not only derobes, deconstructs the man as man and as poet with some penache, he also punctures the diseased zeitgeist, justly and rightly so, that zeitgeist of which such pied piper-like characters are often the products. Baa Every existance has been fashioned by the Creator as a pair. God / Devil, Day / Night, Men / Women, Rich / Poor......Body & Soul. Few are those who were made able to see things from inside out. Majority is of those who use there senses to judge and evaluate themselves, as well as things surrounding them. Means, when one uses his or her eyes or ears to see and hear there's not much one can gain. All sences have limitations. However, those who were successful in defying their physically and reached the level of the spiritual awakening, will certainly have depths in their approaches and will be considered credible. Ahmad Javed sahib, you are doing nothing but trying to find objective meaning in Jaun Elia's poetry, that is unfair. Everything that a poet conveys has some sort of theme, no matter what you think, we still love Jaun , that is not criticism, that is biased analysis.

@@mrtahir2160 I do know him for his nihilistic views. However, to say that he is not a great poet just on the basis of "believe" is injustice. Poetry itself is an art and it should be segregated from the religion. His capability to capture an entire scenario in a short simple couplet is exceptional❤️ ہے غنیمت کہ اسرار ہستی سے ہم بے خبر آئے ہیں بے خبر جائیں گے

آسمانوں میں گر پڑے یعنی ہم زمیں کی طرف اُڑان میں تھے میں کوٸی علمیت کا دعوی کیے بغیر اس شعر کا مطلب جو میں سمجھا، بیان کرنا چاہتا ہوں کہ۔۔ اس میں شاعر کہنا چاہتا ہے کہ بجاۓ اس کے کہ ہم آسمانوں میں موجود کسی ذات یا جنت وغیرہ کے لیے انرجیز صرف کریں۔۔کیوں نہ ہم اس زمیں کی فکر کریں جس پر ہم رہ رہے ہیں۔۔کیونکہ مذکورہ شاعر ہمیشہ ظاہر کو اہمیت دیتے نظر آتے ہیں۔۔

Yes, it is kind of an exact translation of one of the passages from Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra. I don't have the reference handy but he almost word to word said something similar. There are others couplets from Jaun with parallels in Nietzsche's work. I think, this one shayr also is very close to what Nietzsche said in a passage in TSZ. جب ڈوبتا چلا میں تاریکیوں کی تہ میں تہ میں تھا اک دریچہ اور اس میں آسماں تھا jab Dūbtā chalā maiñ tārīkiyoñ kī tah meñ tah meñ thā ik darīcha aur us meñ āsmāñ thā

As you correctly pointed out, he is essentially saying that when we were going towards the earth i.e. humanism/ human centric civilization, we were taking the loftiest flight that we could but then we fell down in the skies (religion) and that was our demise. It is Nietzsche-an Zarathustra-an over going and under going.

اردو ہندی مشترکہ گرامر رکھتی ہیں۔ ہندی زبان فلسفہ (درشن شاستر) کو نبھانے کی سکت رکھتی ہے - فارسی اور عربی سے کہیں زیادہ (کیونکہ یہاں سوچا بھی سب سے زیادہ گیا تھا - عرب و عجم سے بہت زیادہ اور گہرائی میں) جون اگر فارسی و عربی نہ بھی جانتا تو بھی صرف ھندوی اردو میں گہری بات کرسکتا تھا۔ اس نے کم ایسا کیا یہ جون کا فیصلہ یا مزاج تھا - ھندوی اردو کی خامی نہیں۔

I don't think, this shayr is particularly shi'i even though it might appear to be outwardly so... I think, it is much more an answer to the charge that atheism lacks morality... خدا نہیں ہے تو کیا حق کو چھوڑ دیں اے شیخ غضب خدا کا ہم اپنے امام کے نہ رہیں

جون کبھی بھی اپنے خول سے باہر نہیں نکلے لہذا ان سے بڑی شاعری کی توقع عبث ہے۔ وہ چمک دار شعر لکھ سکتے ہیں مگر گہری اور آفاقی بات ان کی استعداد سے باہر ہے۔
