Kollam district have two important tourist location - Jatayu earth Center and Munroe backwaters, which you cannot miss on your Kerala trip and can be done as a day trip from Trivandrum. Jatayu earth center or Jatayu nature park is located 45 km from Trivandrum at Chadayamangalam in Kollam, Kerala. Its also known by the local name Jadayupara. From there Munroe backwaters or Munroe Island is another 46 km. The entire trip duration would be 10-12 hrs.
Jatayu earth center is a great place to visit and portray a great example of engineering marvel, this structure is a tribute to women and stands as a symbol for Women safety. This is the world's largest bird sculpture. Jatayu is an important character in the great Epic Ramayan who sacrificed his life while rescuing Sita from the Ravana.
Munroe Island Backwaters is also a must-see location, with their tranquil waterways and abundant greenary.
