    It's hard to disagree with Jason Todd because what he says makes sense. Some people can't be reasoned with and treat the law as something they can break and uses as they please. Even Bruce knows he would become like Jason if he decided to start killing the bad guys.

    The problem with that logic is that it's being specifically applied to Bruce Wayne, the man who is aware that he has problems and just didn't grow up WORSE than the Joker because it took a lot of restraint and discipline. If Batman kills the Joker, sure, it's one evil less in the world, but then it becomes easier for Bruce to kill other people, even if they are also deserving. We also know that the Batman is prepared with lots of tools and plans to deal with bigger problems, what if he thinks it's necessary to basically promote genocide because it was easier to kill than to send people to jail? When people discuss the thing about Batman killing, ironically, I think a lot of them seems to forget that they are in fact talking about Batman.

    @@FalangeRevolutionary986 I think the point is that Batman isn't a symbol that will stand to murder or allow it to happen unlawly. Despite everything, Red Hood is a murderer, Batman needs to stop him too. Killing the Joker isn't a mistake on Batman's part or his ultimate failure, it's the juridical system's fault.

    Some people say Jensen Ackles should be a live action Batman or he is the best new Batman or whatever… to me, Jensen will always be my Jason Todd/Red Hood. His delivery for every line is just so perfectly delivered, be it smart aleck or emotional distraught, it’s astounding to me the dude hasn’t done more voice work outside of DC. And for taking on more Robins; it wasn't that Todd felt the mantle of Robin was _his_ alone. It was that Bruce was letting more kids do stupid crap, putting them in harm's way. Making more child soldiers, when he felt that the mantle of Robin should have been retired altogether. If Bats needed help, there's a whole @$$ Justice League of *ADULTS* he could call on; Jason didn't want any other kids to suffer or die like he had. Here's the problem with Jason's "Reason" for "Taking them out and making Gotham safe"; it's not Batman's responsibility to kill his villains. If Batman captures Joker, puts him in jail and he escapes that's NOT Batman's fault. There are people who's job it is to rehabilitate, hold prisoner or in some cases execute certain people. Batman is not one of them. The second he takes a life is the moment where he crosses a line to which there is no coming back and he stops being a hero and instead becomes something else, something worse. Because if he takes it upon himself to take a life, to remove that responsibility from our shoulders then he becomes Justice Lord Batman. Just look at Superman vs. The Elite and how terrifying Clark was when he seemed to cross the line from who he is to who everyone said they wanted him to be. Jason has a sense of morals and still cares for people which is what keeps him from becoming as bad as The Elite but he is wrong when he says that the only way to deal with criminals is to kill them. That implies that everyone who commits any crime, no matter how minor, should be killed which would include people like Catwoman, Clayface, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze and Harley Quinn. Should they be killed, after all many of them have taken a life and done terrible things and with just as much reason as Jason yet they all worked with Bruce and his family and some have even become his friends. Batman is NOT a story about revenge as Bruce NEVER finds peace when his parents killer is arrested or killed. It's the story of a man trying to make it so no 8 year old child will ever lose their parents the way he did. Jason is wrong, he is not solving any problems, he's just doing something to make himself feel safe. Like covering up a black eye with makeup and saying "You have to understand he really does love me."

  • @garbouwdeark9103

    @garbouwdeark9103

    I think Batman's reasoning would work better if he didn't exist in a comic book universe where villains will always escape eventually. Because for every Harley, Ivy, and Freeze (who still relapse enough and go back to being villains that it already starts being less worth it), there's a Joker, Zsasz, and Penguin that absolutely are not worth it. I'm not saying Batman should kill, at this point it would be breaking his character on a Snyder level. Just that from Jason's perspective as someone in a comic book universe, he's 100% justified in taking it a step further.

  • @Winter-The-Masquerade

    @Winter-The-Masquerade

    10 ай бұрын

    @@garbouwdeark9103 I wouldn't say he's justified, I would say it's understandable. Again look to Injustice, Superman vs. The Elite, A Better World or any of the other six billion "What if Superman Was Evil" AU stories out there. We've seen what happens when heroes "Take Responsibility" and become judge, jury and executioner. And it's never good. A while back I found out about a Superhero book called Dreadnought which raised a VERY different Superman question which was "What if Superman was a Transgirl". As a transwoman myself who is a fan of superheroes obviously this was something I wanted check out and I fell in love with the book after the first page (seriously I was in tears when reading the first chapter) and I honestly do highly recommend it even if you're not trans as it's very well written. What's great about the book is that Danny (the main character of the book) being transgirl who has to deal with all the negative fallout of being trans along with all the good that comes with it, isn't the main focus of the book it's only one part of it. Her becoming a Superhero is another big part of it as she has a set idea of what a Superhero is and learns that said Superheroes are people. Some are noble, some are horrible and some are just trying to make a living and don't care one way or another. Danny is an abuse victim and as such she often finds ways that are unhealthy to vent her anger which includes violence. Add into the fact that she's a Superhero and you can see where this is going. Yeah Danny quickly begins to enjoy hurting her enemies and rarely, if ever, tries to reason with them. One of the most powerful moments in the first book is when Danny contemplates letting a small time Supervillain kill her abusive father (he had sought out the guys help to try and change Danny back into the body she was originally trapped in whereas the villain just wanted to kill someone). Danny's struggle with this moment is understandable. I'm not an abuse victim but I've known and helped people who either were victims or were abusers themselves. So I understand why a victim could get excited over those who hurt them being taken out of their lives. In the end Danny is just to good of a person to let her father die so she saves him. And regrets it later since he continues to abuse her (he wasn't aware that she's the one who saved his worthless ass). In the second book Danny comes face to face with someone else who's been abusing her and is left in a position where she can, well, I'll just let the book speak for itself for a moment. "It's just her. And me. And no witnesses." And that is when Danny comes to the end of that part of her journey and we're left wondering if she will take a life or be better then her enemy. I won't answer how that question is answered as I don't want to spoil it for you if you are interested but I do think there should be a moment like this is many a Superhero stories. But this is why I feel that Jason isn't justified in his belief as to why killing Supervillains is the best answer. Because it will not solve anything. Yes you've made it so that the villains will not harm anyone but what about the next threat that comes around, do you just kill them too?

    Stop already with all that cr@p Batman’s hands are already covered with blood. The Joker or any other maniac in Gotham is the gun, but Batman’s the one who pulls the trigger. He KNOWS that every time he puts them in Arkham, they’re gonna escape and kill hundreds again and again. There’s no rehabilitation for the likes of Joker, he doesn’t commit crimes out of need or a higher cause, he does it just for the sake of it. Batman uses “fear” to fight criminals, but his “fear” is lacking. Why would I be afraid of Batman, if I know he’s not gonna kill me? Hell, even his rouges use that point against him to run away.
