Joshua -- see Jason in the 2016 documentary Hired Gun. It is a killer look back through history at session players, players that moved from band to band, and their contributions to the music we love. Jason, was in Mandy Moore's band, as a hired gun. Everything was going great, but then her handlers decided she was going to do movies, and everything came to a halt for her band, which were all hired guns for her. AND THEN, Jason was picked to play for Hillary Duff. Crazy right? 2 music acts that were not what you would think for him. Well, touring with Hillary was great, and Jason had an awesome paying gig. Well, Hillary's team sent out an email saying that she was taking her career in a new direction....movies. It happened again! A little before this time, Jason had become friends with Jeremy Spencer of Death Punch. Death Punch was having issues with their guitar player, and Jeremy asked Jason to come down and play. And well, the rest is history :) Great documentary: Hired Gun.

He is actually very different. 1. Syn uses a schecter with a Seymour Duncan invader and sustainiac. He also sweeps alot. If you heard Jason in 5FDP he doesn't really sweep. And syn plays in drop D, C#, and standard. Jason plays in baritone tuning which is B standard. So that is quite a bit lower than syn. Granted both are superb guitarists. They both differ in tones.

teach me how to play jekyll and Hyde on guitar please
Jason Hook vs Synyster Gates. Go.
not bad
2:55 .......... "It's not that difficult" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I know what you mean about tying to slow stuff down. It's damn near impossible.

awesome player...great playing....don't want to sound like a douche, but at 2:05 I think that you mean to say up, up down...not down, down, up. Both will work, but you're picking up up down, and it works better for me too on that sequence...
If this is master class i am PAGANINI.

Guitars doing social distancing.
Why it's called masterclass? I can play all of that stuff in my bedroom, why I'm not famous yet?

+Michal Matejuk Who are you? what band you play in? how many albums you sold? that's the difference

Because you're playing it in your bedroom. You're not trying to get yourself out there.

Michael Radliff 5 years ago was 2009. Syn had spiky hair in 2009. He got out of his long hair, fedora, eyeliner and painted nails phase ages before that. Jason doesn't look anything like syn ever has, other than the hair.

This guy definitely has a way more OG background than synister gates... I mean come on the dude played for Alice Cooper, and seriously his guitar technique kills anything Avenged Sevenfold does
Proof that great guitar players ARE horrible teachers. Guy is rad as hell tho!
I respect the playing skills but the guitar is really ugly. I do like the deeper cutaway.

+moshpit I used to own an explorer (copy) and they are definitely very cool. I don't dig the corrugated pipe he has leading to the switch, but his paint job is bitchin (comes in other color combos, too)
Good player but his tone in this vid is horrible
