Album trailer for Jason Becker's new album Triumphant Hearts.
Jason Becker’s story is one of brilliance, talent, determination, adversity, and, ultimately, triumph. A child prodigy on guitar, Jason rose to prominence as a teenager when he was one half of the legendary rock guitar duo Cacophony (with his great friend Marty Friedman). After wowing audiences all over the word with his amazing guitar chops and deep compositions, Jason auditioned for-and got-the gig with David Lee Roth, following in the huge footsteps of Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai. He wrote and recorded the DLR album A Little Ain’t Enough and was poised to take over the rock guitar world when a nagging pain in his leg was diagnosed as ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, a debilitating and fatal condition with a life expectancy of maybe five years. Maybe.
That was 29 years ago.
Jason did indeed lose the ability to play guitar, walk, talk, and breathe on his own. But he never lost his will to live or his desire to create music. Communicating through a series of eye movements with a system developed by his father, Jason spells out words as well as musical notes and chords. He imparts his musical vision to his team who then can input the notes into a computer, edit the parts to his exacting standards, and then generate charts for session musicians. It is through this amazing process that Jason composes his profoundly beautiful music, rich in melody and counterpoint, brimming with emotion. His inspiring music and life story have been the subject of countless news articles, magazine cover stories, and an award-winning documentary, Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet.
Not only is Jason not dead yet, he’s busier and more prolific than ever, as evidenced by his latest release, Triumphant Hearts. The album’s 14 tracks showcase Jason’s gift for melody and his deep knowledge of classical composition and orchestral arrangement. Many of the guitar parts are performed by a who’s-who of 6-string gods including Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Neal Schon, Steve Morse, Paul Gilbert, Joe Bonamassa, and many others. And, in what will absolutely delight his fans, Jason’s amazing guitar playing-recorded in the ’80s and ’90s-graces several tunes.
Jason Becker is unquestionably the sexiest man alive, but he’s also the most positive, upbeat, and inspiring man alive.
“I really feel lucky,” says Jason. “I am surrounded by loving people, and I can still make music.”
Jason Becker’s Triumphant Hearts is slated for release Dec. 7, 2018.

Jason is such an inspiration, the guy was diagnosed with a disease that left him paralysed and only given a couple of years left by the doctors. Not only is he not dead yet(pun intended),but he continues to write awesome music, despite his condition! So what's your excuse?

I literally have no excuse. I have all the capacity to make it happen, but because I'm a stupid, lazy fucking idiot... I don't take advantage of it. I would do well to take a page out of Mr. Becker's book and not let my limitations hold me back.

This video really broke my heart. I remember in the 80s when I lived in California, I had his phone number because somebody said he was giving lessons. I called, his mom answered, she was so damn sweet and kind, but I guess he wasn’t home. I never started taking lessons from him because his immense talent intimidated the hell out of me. But I’ve been following him all these years, have bought all of his albums, and I’m really amazed that he never gave up. Jason, thank you so much for everything you have done for this planet. We love you so much. Great; I’m totally tearing up now... 😥♥️

Jason Becker raised (an already elevated) bar for guitarists, in what might be considered the most competitive (although it shouldn’t be about competition) era for rock-guitar music. Jason’s parents raised the parenting bar to the “next-level” position for all of humanity and I consider myself a good dad...🤷🏼‍♂️

I hope to meet you someday I would love to sit down with you and just shoot the shit and get to know you beyond the music and beyond both of our disabilities. (I am an amputee with many issues and generally very poor health) Keep fighting the fight you only lose when you give up and I dont ever see that happening with you. Much love to you, your friends, and your loved ones! I can't wait to buy the album!

I wish I could like this a thousand times. Jason truly is an inspiration in the form of how strong the human spirit really is. There is no stronger force on Earth. His passion for music is undeiable and this album proves even at a young age he was never just a guitarist... he was and is a musician. There is a huge difference. You too have a strong will with everything you've experienced and I'm thankful Jason can be there to inspire you. Keep your head up and know that no matter what physical limitations we are presented with, the mind will ALWAYS triumph. I wish you all the best in your life!!

First, i must say to Jason... Thank You! I would imagine the process of creating this piece of work must've been psychologically and emotionally draining for you and everyone else involved to give your fans yet another piece of your soul. This album is groundbreaking on many levels and even with your physical limitations, you once again are pushing the boundaries of both what is capable in music and the human spirit. You truly are a testament to all of humanity and prove that the human spirit really is the strongest force on Earth. Thank You Jason... we love you dude!

Behind Jason I saw 2 guitars of Eddie van Halen hanging on the wall. And I saw somewhere that those two were big friends. The sad part is one is serious sick and the other is no more amongst us. Both terrible. Rip Eddie and thank God we still have Jason. Jason, an amazing virtuous in the-best-of-the-best-list.

I made another comment, but had to delete it after I heard him talking about vulnerability. *Vulnerability and love, this is what true strength is.* Jason has always been an amazing musician, but as he grows, so does his wisdom, and that is a true gift for anyone. Edit: Love the pictures of him with Uli Roth and Guthrie Govan.

His hair, his facial hair and is overall look make him look like one of those oil paintings of a very accomplished renaissance man. And he is just that. This is touching and a story that should be told by a mainstream media outlet. It's so inspirational. Never give up. Great man. Great family. I'm so glad I found this. That's what I get for listening to David Lee Roth on you tube, it eventually led me here.

No creo que la palabra "límite" esté ni siquiera en su vocabulario. Simplemente avanza en su música y en su vida.

Since I first listened to the Perpetual Burn I was dumbfounded by the level of crazy musicianship but also how you can really feel the music. I have made it a mission to learn at least all perpetual burn songs before I die!
