LYRICS:
SUCKER PUNCH SOMEBODY ON A SIDEWALK
CAR JACK AN OLD LADY AT A RED LIGHT
PULL A GUN ON THE OWNER OF A LIQUOR STORE
YA THINK IT’S COOL WELL ACT A FOOL IF YA LIKE
CUSS OUT A COP SPIT IN HIS FACE
STOMP ON THE FLAG AND LIGHT IT UP
YEAH YA THINK YOU’RE TOUGH
WELL TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN
SEE HOW FAR YA MAKE IT DOWN THE ROAD
‘ROUND HERE WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN
YOU CROSS THAT LINE IT WON’T TAKE LONG
FOR YOU TO FIND OUT
I RECOMMEND YOU DON’T
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN
GOT A GUN THAT MY GRANDDAD GAVE ME
THEY SAY ONE DAY THEY’RE GONNA ROUND UP
WELL THAT SHIT MIGHT FLY IN THE CITY GOOD LUCK
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN
SEE HOW FAR YOU MAKE IT DOWN THE ROAD
‘ROUND HERE WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN
YOU CROSS THAT LINE IT WON’T TAKE LONG
FOR YOU TO FIND OUT
I RECOMMEND YOU DON’T
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN
FULL OF GOOD OL BOYS, RAISED UP RIGHT
IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A FIGHT
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN
SEE HOW FAR YOU MAKE IT DOWN THE ROAD
‘ROUND HERE WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN
YOU CROSS THAT LINE IT WON’T TAKE LONG
FOR YOU TO FIND OUT
I RECOMMEND YOU DON’T
TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN

I work as a deputy sheriff and we have a couple small towns in my county that don't have a town cop. One night I responded to call of a drunk man trying to break into his ex-girlfriends house. Long story short, I ended up getting in a fight with the suspect on the side of the road at 1 a.m. and the suspect tried to take my gun. A lifted truck just happened to be driving by when they suddenly stopped and three guys got out and pinned the suspect down while I cuffed him. Then, they just hopped in their truck and left. No one needed to document the incident on camera. They didn't have to think about what was the right thing to do. They saw a need and met it. Love my community.

Thank you so much for what you do. I’ve often thought how hard it must be to see people at their personal lowest, and on the worst day of their lives, so often. I think about the things you must have seen. I think about the police officers, firefighters, EMTs, school nurses, ER Physicians, Nurses, etc. - first ones on crime scenes; taking care of a drugged out drunk person’s injuries, while the family his recklessness just killed are in the next room; seeing hungry and neglected children. PTSD is a real thing. Thank you, again, for your dedication and bravery. I pray for you all.

Tell half truths, And down right lie at times. Some of the people saying Jason is racist are the actual racist ones. Any one with a family, wife, husband would be for what Jason sings about in this song. Only people against it are the criminals, race baiters, hypocrites. Been a fan of Jason for a while now. We've just scattered in order to try to find better lives (job opportunities). The nation as a whole is quite conservative. The left just appears strong because they have what's left of the legacy media. Let us clean up a little in the educational system and this nation will be more conservative than it was in the 80's after a decade. I’m a black woman who wouldn’t have to worry about “trying it in a small town” bc that crap never would’ve gotten past my house!! My grandparents, mom, dad, uncles, aunts, minister, & pretty much any adult in our community would’ve straightened me out real quick!!! I get that you’re equating these lyrics to “black people”, but that’s not it. You’re wrong, you’re believing the hype. For example, at least half of blm were white. The vast majority of Antifa are white. It’s not about black vs white, it’s about people who love their country and people who don’t. It’s about people who care about their communities and people who don’t. It’s about people who choose to perpetuate the violence and hatred and division and the people who don’t(or do the opposite, which is unity). There are better and more constructive ways to handle things in this world than to go out and destroy communities and hurt innocent people who have done nothing to deserve it. Violence on innocent people isn’t going to bring change, it’s going to bring more division and anger. United We Stand, Divided We Fall isn’t just a saying.

Treat people with respect and have some dignity, ethic and work hard for your dreams! That’s it! It’s that easy! Everyday when you come to that fork of right or wrong just do right! You will love & respect yourself for it! We all have good in us we just have to use it! I’d like to see. These idiots try to come take my Grandfather’s gun it will be a bad deal. That gun hasn’t fired in 40 years but it was his and he gave it to me as a kid and anyone who thinks they can take I encourage you to try but your gonna have to plug a few holes if you make it out! This song is 💯 Recently living in a small town of Arizona after living in the city, A owner of the liquor store/market of the small town was robbed and he was shot right after opening even when he complied. The whole town came together and shared his picture and the story. The guy was found within a couple hours. Because of the commitment and heartbreak of the small town. I've come to see this guy that was murdered was a staple of our community..someone who loved with his whole heart and gave as much as he can to help others and this guy had a family, a wife and babies. After his death the small town came together and threw fundraisers and vigils.❤

Being a musician for 53 years, I always thought The country music had some of the most bad ass guitar players playing most bad ass tones. This song is a clear representative of that.
I was at Jason Aldean concert last year and people started chanting “USA, USA, USA” when he finished singing this song. I’m rewatching the Paramount plus original documentary about the Oct 1, 2017 Route 91 Harvest Festival mass shooting. it’s called 11 Minutes - all 4 hours of the documentary show a much deeper look inside what happened that night. How 11 minutes changed people’s lives forever. Jason Aldean is NOT promoting gun violence or violence of any kind in this video and this song.

He says he is willing to break the law and assault somebody, just because they practiced their freedom of speech while stomping on the flag that has abandoned their individual experiences of injustice. assault is assault, and the supreme court decided that defacing our flag is protected free speech under Texas v. Couple of things about me….I am Canadian and I’m a grandmother of 4. First off, Jason you have done nor said anything racist in this song. As far as I’m concerned this was great publicity for you and I’m glad I took the time to listen to the lyrics…..you’re a proud American, nothing wrong with that. When you speak the truth you are naturally going to “offend” someone but you are bang on here. Cities are filled with the highest level of evil, not saying small towns don’t have it, they just aren’t inclined to be as stupid as those in the cities…..because of repercussions. Most people will admit the world has gone crazy since Covid but that doesn’t mean we should stop respecting others, appreciate others and love others. We’re all different in some ways, even the woke generation, but that doesn’t mean we should trash them for that reason…..they are humans and deserve more than the abuse they are taking. In my small town we wouldn’t put up with a lot of $hit taking place in cities…..so, don’t listen to any of those that disagree either you…..keep doing what you are doing because you are amazing. Have yourself a great day!

I live in a small town, but before I moved here I spent 13 years in a big city, and I hated every day of it. Gunshots right down my street, people pounding on my garage door in the middle of the night, a police chase right past my front door, 5 stolen cars parked outside our house in 4 years, you think of it and there's probably at least one example I can remember just in my neighborhood. None of that has ever happened, nor has anything even remotely close to it happened, in the small town. The arguments are few and far between, everybody gets along, we don't have any extremist opinions that tear communities apart, and it's overall a far better place to live in every way possible. I'll never go back to the city, and you know what? I'm glad about that. Folks, say what you want about small towns, but just know that for every bad one, there's at least 3 good ones to balance it out.

We have a very similar attitude to the lyrics of this song where I’m from in the north of England in a small working class town and we are getting similar happenings in this country too. I will not just stand for it when it comes to my home. I’ll dig my heels in the ground and give blood if I have to. The Midwest and the south of the US are very similar in mindset to us in the north of England. Tough, salt of the earth, hardworking, loyal, all about family, lots of common sense and not people to be messed with. Lots of love from your brother across the pond! ❤🇬🇧🇺🇸

This song is literally advocating for gun violence in an eye for an eye type way...

Not just the mid west & south of the US, theres a lot of us folks in the South West too, except for the majority of the cesspool known as California.

And for the people who were upset or butthurt from this song were probably the ones doing the dumb sh**

So sorry that happened to you, I hope whoever did it was caught. If I had been there he would have never left the scene unless in handcuffs.

@mrtalldude2424 you should see the statistics on homicides and rape in those small towns he's so proud of. Conservatives are delusional as shit.

I bought the song on Amazon music. Never bought a Jason Aldean song before, but needed to support this. I will be buying his music from now on.
Awesome song. Awesome lyrics. Awesome video.
