There are some truly sensational performances in ultrarunning, and I don't think anyone would disagree that this is up there with the best of them. To put that kind of speed in after 60 hours to get the finish by literal seconds is so fucking incredible. Have been crying at videos of her finishing all day. Truly a historic achievement!

@runsingletrack Hi. I'm confused. What's the rule? Ihor started loop 5 first and he chose clockwise (CW) direction so that sets the direction for the rest of the runners, right? So why did Campbell run CCW and seemed to have the right for Jasmin's direction? Thanks for anyone who'd like to enlighten me.
this event deserves a fully produced doc each year

Yep. It'd be awesome if every year in terms of live coverage all we have is a few tweets from one or two people (definitely no live streams and timings and everything, that would take away half the mythical feeling), and then a few months later some awesome doc.

There usually is at least one! (My favs being the classic 'The Race that Eats Its Young', and Gary Robin's 'Where Dreams Go To Die'. I dig how each documentary is from a different perspective, some about thw race as a whole, some about individuals, or history, training, etc. There are a LOT of good ones, and they simply do not get stale. Cheers!

Thank YOU! For making history and showing us that nothing is impossible! You inspired me to dream bigger, to be better, to train harder! Thank YOU!
What an absolutely stunning achievement by jasmin. I watched the 'Barkley Marathons: The Race That Eats Its Young' film after reading she'd done this & am now even more in awe. What a legend.
Jasmin you are incredible. Such an unbelievable achievement.
What an incredible achievement. Literal tears in my eyes watching this interview, and I full on bawled watching her finish. She is an absolute warrior paving the way and showing the world what is truly possible!
Sometimes we need reminding that things that seem impossible only seem so until someone achieves them. And when someone achieves, even in an unfamiliar field, it can intrigue, it can instruct, it can inspire. Jasmin Paris, thankyou for the reminder.
Congratulations Jasmin, from Pete. I remember you when we used to go hiking in the OAC club at Liverpool Uni. A truly amazing achievement.
Damn she is impressive. Incredible effort.
Wow ...wow ...wow . An inspiration. An incredible athlete . The baddest woman alive ! You deserve it all!
Wow, what dedication. THE best performance in ultrarunning history. Jasmin is simply now a legend. Many thanks for showing us what athletes can do when pushed to the absolute edge - incredible.

Strange that. She didn't, because it's fictional, hence the dramatic finish. Yawn, the guurl power narrative, Laz took a few dollars to play along.
So amazing

Radiating so much LIFE, after a 60H max effort.. gosh watch an inspiration

Wow! Impressive girl power! well done Jasmin
Jasmin Paris is another level! This is no ordinary race. I thought Jack Scott's Spine Race win was incredible, but (if you can compare races/runners/performances) the sheer depth she had to dig here was a genuine piece of running history
Believe in yourself 🙏🏼
Give that woman an MBE, then an OBE…heck, just make her Dame Jasmin Paris already. Never heard of the BM before yesterday, but this is an achievement beyond any usual scale.
Respect total Mme Paris.....formidable performance!!!! Félicitations et mille Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!

You know it's an insane race when an athlete of that caliber, literally one of the most amazing runners on the planet, is COMPLETELY dead after.

100+miles (160+ KM) with insane elevation and you have to complete it in 60 hours with limited water and aid. And you have to search books in an ever changing course without GPS.
Now Laz is going to have to admit women are capable of finishing! 😊

Was eine beeindruckende Frau und Sportlerin. In meinen Augen eine Heldin.
I can't conceive how a mind can overcome that level of suffering. A glimpse of another world. Astonishing.
Grit!
if i were her i would be sprawled out under that fence hysterically crying. for multiple reasons. and i’d still probably be there.
❤ excelente 🇨🇷
If this acheivement isn't outstanding enough already, Jasmin did this with having no anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee after she tore it when she was 17 years old

It only makes her finish under 60 hours more suspect.
Fantastic achievement. I was impressed that she used old trainers that she'd repaired herself, rather than accept sponsorship. She hates the idea of so much money being poured into disposable and (clearly unnecessary) sports gear. Good for her!

What a beautiful soul ❤
wow
Everything is impossible until it's done i honestly thought a women could never finish this event .
Stunning achievement, one of the greatest UM finishes ever. Very popular lady here in the Scottish hill running community, so proud of what has done for our amazing sport.
Laszlo must be one of the proudest men this week
How old she is? I think she could be great inspiration for those who think they too old to run ( i mean not under 30 any more)
@Jaigarful

Kipcoge is 40 years old and is the fastest marathon runner in the world. Explosive strength does fade a bit as we get older, but the endurance athletes, especially ultras, get better. Harvey Lewis is 47 and he did 450 miles in a backyard ultra last year.

That's one of the awesome things about ultras... ultrarunners tend to "peak" in their 30s and 40s, and are often going strong in their 60s. (Unlike shorter distances, where 30 is considered over the hill. ) I was convinced to get into them by a 72 year old who still does them!
@robnaylor4494
3 ай бұрын
She's 40. And no age is too old to run. I didn't START running until I was 53, in 2008. The first time I'd run at all since 5th form cross-country in 1971. Within 18 months I'd completed the London Marathon in a time that was good for my age. I'm rehabbing from back surgery at the moment but between ages 64-66 I was the fittest I've ever been. My VO2Max was 42 and my resting heart rate 44. Blood pressure 116/72. I was even so about 14lb overweight ( I'm more now!). I was supposed to do the Spine Challenger South race this coming June but had to pull out as my back surgery rehab won't let me train at the level I need to. Maybe in 2025? I'm not fast. I think I've placed first in my age category in maybe one race, but I also placed last in my age category in the same race! And I'm not unusual. I'm regularly passed by runners over 70 and one of my friends still does trail running at 84, after cancer surgery. At 53 I was 60lb overweight, high blood pressure and a VO2MAX of 25. Even now, 68 and recovering from surgery, I'm fitter than I was in my 20s and 30s. You don't have the explosive power of a sprinter when you're older but you have stamina and also the knowledge that your body can do a lot more than your mind thinks it can. On the endurance events I've done, it was noticable that although younger competitors were faster, they often gave up quite quickly whereas oldies would finish. Not in the top places, but they would get there.
She’s a god. What an incredible feat

This smashes every female world record in ultra marathon and cross country. If she did this then Jasmine has super human abilities for a female. It does not add up though. How did Jasmine beat all those men and finish mere minutes behind the men finishers?
🏴 🇬🇧
I have never doubted that a woman could finish this race, however I have always doubted whether a woman can run it under 60 hours to be an official finisher, especially when so few men have. If this record is legit, then Jasmine has super woman powers. She is way beyond every other female ultra runner and it is mind boggling that she could do what so many can cannot do. That is what makes it hard to believe. I want to believe she completed the Berkley and finished under 60 hours, but she has smaller muscles, lungs, heart, weaker twitch reflexes and naturally more body fat than any male runner. Biology is against her, so how on earth did she do what she did? How did she beat all those men?
Maybe Laz'll let more females in now. Jazmin rules!
Laz is gonna make the course literally impossible next year now lol
How big was this? The old man that puts this on has never been at the Gate to watch someone complete the race...ever...not in 35 yrs. But there he was standing right there to witness history. This is a man when asked if a woman would ever complete the race laughed and said no. There he was. Smiling.
Jasmin Paris didn't technical finish. It's a DNF at lap 4. But there is a fifth lap.
