Heifetz ' secret is in his bowing . Unbelievable Incredible ! Perfect intonataion no matter what range he is in ! Heifetz had it all and he makes great, always interesting music !

Yes and his entire physical mechanics- his posture, his left hand, the way he holds his instrument and his concentrated effort (often misinterpreted as “coldness” account for his beautiful playing.

Agree. I can smell the hot bow resin though the ages. These days, Gil Saham uses a lot of bow. Its the secret to the old fashioned sound of Oistrak, Milstein,, and Heifetz above all.

The movie is from 1939: “They Shall Have Music”. An inner city settlement house is in financial trouble with the “Big Bad Banker” and guest star Violinist Jascha Heifetz performs the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Youth Orchestra and saves the day.
