I'm an atheist. Good music is good music.
My aunt bought this cd for me when I was 16 in hopes that it would lead me to Christ. I rejected it and Him. Oh what a mistake. I spent the next decades drowning in addiction and misery. But even so the Lord was faithful! Praise Jesus for never leaving or forsaking me and taking me back!

I went to both public schools and a private school in my youth. There wasn't much of a difference. I remember the day I got expelled from my last school in 2005 and i cried like there was no tomorrow. I grew up in church but I had a fall out with God at 17. For 16 years I doubted myself. Im now 33 but I never thought I would be here this long. Ive been muddy and dirty for a long time. I got the courage to tell me what to do last night. I dont pretend to be sane but I was never understood until today. My girlfriend is my lifeline and i want her to be with me until its over. I was an alcoholic and addicted to lean but im now 7 years sober. Im a father of 3 and a good one at that. I needed help I couldn't have found on my own. So I went to the Rock of my foundation and said kill me or let me drown. I dont want to be with you but I am not worthy....now I can say with pride that God found me and washed all the mud away. Im going to be ok man...so yea this is still relevant in 2024 just like it always will be.

My older cousin had a Jars of Clay CD back when I was in middle school and I thought, “wow my cousin listens to rock music too?!” It was taboo for a black kid in a black community to listen to rock music. I never knew they had a deeper meaning to their music. His was reaching me even then!

As an active member of the church, it wasn’t acceptable for me to feel the way that I felt… this song/band led me threw a dark time when I was just told to pray…. And btw Creed is almost solely responsible for bringing back hard rock/heavy metal at a time when no one was listening to it…

You should be a writer if you're not. You brought me there in just those couple sentences. ❤️
Most Christian rock disgusts me on a purely artistic level but this does Christianity justice in my humble opinion. It appeals to me in the way traditional Christian music does highlighting the yearning for God over the self satisfaction of someone who thinks themselves holier than thou.
For those struggling with addiction: read the bible and get to know God DAILY, get baptized and receive the holy spirit (if you haven't been already), pray to God for deliverance when you feel urges (and whenever), and talk to some trustworthy God-fearing friends to help support to you and keep you accountable. You may not feel like you can overcome it, but Jesus is victorious over the world and you can do anything through him.

My favorite part of the song. It’s also great timing for the lyrics to pick up again, and the singing and melody there are perfect.
I'm agnostic and learned of this song because of a remix done of it. Whether you're a person of faith, spiritual, agnostic or atheist the song's message can be appreciated by all. The song's production, helmed by the renowned former King Crimson guitarist and superbrilliant solo artist: Adrian Belew, bestowed upon it a sonorous richness akin to an auditory deluge. Belew employed a unique "over-compression" technique, opting to expand the sound's dynamic range rather than compressing the spectrum, resulting in a distinctive sonic experience. Beyond producing, Belew also lent his musical prowess to the track by playing certain string parts and orchestrating the captivating middle section of 'Flood.' His contributions rendered the song truly one-of-a-kind, leaving a lasting impression with its unparalleled sound.

Any atheists on here love this song? because I am and I love this song. Then again I was 6 when this song came out so I didn't know what it was about. My mom was a rocker and loved music so I loved most 90s music especially the music she listened to. I remember her having a Jars of Clay CD among many many other great albums from 90s 80s 70s. I am so grateful for the music she introduced me to but as of late all that great music that has always brought me back to good times and made me feel good is now making me sad. My mother passed away this past Christmas eve. I hope that one day this music will make me happy like it did before and make me think of the good times with my mother. Anyway been listening to this song since I was 6 years old and now I'm 27. man I miss those days so much good music.

" Any atheists on here love this song? " Absolutely. I always loved the melody and the vocal harmonies. What a soothing voice that guy has. I wish you to have the same good times you had before losing your mom.

Rain rain on my face It hasn't stopped Raining for days My world is a flood Slowly I become One with the mud But if I can't swim after 40 days And my mind is crushed By the crashing waves Lift me up so high That I cannot fall Lift me up Lift me up when I'm falling Lift me up I'm weak and I'm dying Lift me up I need you to hold me Lift me up and keep me from drowning again Down pour on my soul Splashing in the ocean I'm losing control Dark sky all around Can't feel my feet Touching the ground But if I can't swim after 40 days And my mind is crushed By the crashing waves Lift me up so high That I cannot fall Lift me up Lift me up when I'm falling Lift me up I'm weak and I'm dying Lift me up I need you to hold me Lift me up and keep me from drowning again Calm the storms that drench my eyes And dry the streams still flowing Casting down all waves of sin And guilt that overthrow me But if I can't swim after 40 days And my mind is crushed By the crashing waves Lift me up so high That I cannot fall Lift me up Lift me up when I'm falling Lift me up I'm weak and I'm dying Lift me up I need you to hold me Lift me up and keep me from drowning again Lift me up, when I'm falling Lift me up, I'm weak and I'm dying Lift me up, I need you to hold me Lift me up, and keep me from drowning again
I'm not even Christian and this song is still a banger.

This song is dedicated to the people of Florida who have lost so much from the Hurricane 🌀
This Christian band has the best of the best. I've been through a flood of turmoil my entire life from Brain surgeries and having a ventriculoperitoneal (V/P) shunt placed at birth. I was born at eight months (or 32 weeks premature), weighing two pounds and five ounces. I've been extremely hard on myself. But I had God on my side. He was doing the unthinkable miracle, and I've had twenty-seven surgeries (my last one was in November 2009). I had my shunt permanently removed. I haven't had any problems since then.

this song never gets old
Im atheist and this song just caught my ears on an episode of "crashing". I don't give a shit if it's Christian music. I don't hear any of that. I just hear a good sounding song. The vocals, the guitar. Sounds killer.
Been pulled out of the drowning water too many times. Thanks to Lord Jesus.
I'm listening to this while recovering from Covid (in isolation) in a 3rd world country. The Lord sustains me.
Listened to this early 2000’s as a teenager. What a time to be alive for youth group.

I was raised in a Christian family listening to Christian music. This is one of my older brother's favorite songs and bands. To me, this is a timeless Christian rock classic. It's amazing how this song manages to sound so powerful, heavy, and in your face with acoustic guitars, clean singing, and beautiful harmonies.

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, IS THE LORD ALMIGHTY! THE EARTH IS FILLED WITH HIS GLORY! KING YESHUAH IS OUR GOD! AMEN! MARANATHA!
This song gets me so emotional 🥹 thank you Jesus ❤
I was about 10 years old when my older sister would play this on her radio and I always loved it! I’m 36 now & It definitely means something completely different than it did when I was a kid! I love songs that are timeless like this one! Classic! ❤
I came across a jimmy fallon clip on youtube. One of the guests guessed "jars of clay" and i couldnt for the life of me remember a single song. Man, they are still so good. The grunge of christian rock.
One of my favorite Christian songs
I love this music; so uplifting. I can imagine when Noah's ship began to lift into the waters of the world, leaving behind the whole world; what he and his family must've been feeling, as God was protecting them, to bring them to a new life, a new world....

It's timeless it brings me back to fixing cars and reading the Bible with my dad and uncle
When I was younger I never realized they were a Christian rock band like pod I just thought they had a cool sound but now that I'm older I understand them deeper
I think this song is really open to interpretation. To me, it speaks of looking for hope and salvation, when you feel down and everything is fall apart at the seams. It comes from a dark place yet looking for that light at the end tunnel. Some people find that in God or another religion, others look to their family and friends, and others find a solace in something they love such as music.

One of my favorite songs of all times. Christ rescued me from drowning in my sin.
Ah, the 90’s memories. Jars and DC Talk showed me that there was some artful Christian music when I was a college student. And it became the soundtrack for a discernment that led me to being a Jesuit priest today. Jars are great live too. Hope they record and tour together again.

i used to jam to it in the 90's. i honestly had never realized it was a Christian rock song
I'm from El Salvador, used to listen a bunch of songs without even understanding English, now I do and I love them even more!
I remember when this was one of the first/only Christian band songs that had a regular rotation on MTV. Gosh, I'm old. Song is still great, though.
Such a versatile song, although i am glad it's underlying grasp is truly about walking with God. Stick with it everyone, you can do it. No matter what you're going through!
This tune helped me completely to find me during my battle to find, understand, and give all if me to my relationship with Jesus. 🍃 * Took 14 years 🍃 Love it. Lived it. Breath it.
For those who’ve been hurt by ignorant “Christians” I am so sorry. God does not want us to be that way - He is Love! Jesus loves you all! Have a nice life, peace be with you 💕💕

This is the first song i ever heard when i was saved !!!! Thank you so much for launching me on my journey and i would like to publicly say Charles Wayne Payne, im sorry , forgive me and i love you with all my heart ….. you are second to everything in my life ….. if only i had a prayer , a chance , a request to tell you to your face
25 years STRONG. Jesus IS THE ONLY WAY!
1424 days off dope and fentanyl. 5.14 weeks until 4years clean. i do not miss that boy i was, in ny eyes now a man I've become. i see so many of my flaws clesr as day and i try to improve and fix these faults. but this is hard when losing family to illness, desling eith mental issues such as paranoia, panic attacks, sleep issues... im clean but improvement still lost still. lord send me home so i can make it my own again and be like soft clay to your love. im open but collecting debris and new pains as i walk without purpose even while "sober"... please send me a woman who sees my potential and compassion. amen.

Don't you realize the song is about somebody OUTside of the Ark? If you feel like you "missed the boat" or are stuck watching everyone sail away safely while you feel the mud disappear from below you, - God will Lift You Up because of Jesus; Someone noone had in Noah's time.
I heard of these guys through my dad, Jars of Clay was performing a show along side another Christian guy named Michael W. Smith and after Jars of Clay played there set, they were giving out there demo tapes of this album to people in the crowd and they gave a copy to my dad, Tbh i didnt think of much them till this song came on. and i was like.... Holy crap... these guys have a mesage to people. Non Christians can appreciate the smooth acoustic playing and Christians can vibe with the powerful mesage it sends. the most powerful thing a person can do at their lowest is say a prayer..... a prayer can really help ease you.
weak in the spirit, seek Ye the lord and he make you strong to over come this world of sin.
