Jarren Benton on Funk Volume Era | Major Label vs. Independent - One More Time Podcast
Музыка
In this episode of the One More Time Podcast, Jarren Benton talks about the Funk Volume days, the differences between working with a major label vs. being independent, his relationship with Kato on the Track and more!
Jarren Benton is a legendary emcee out of Atlanta formerly signed to Hopsin's Funk Volume. Nicknamed "The Bully" by a disgruntled fan, he fully embraced the moniker and even launched his own freestyle series with the name. Despite not owning the rights to it (sore subject), the song "Skitzo" catapulted his career into another dimension. He was negotiating a deal with Def Jam but when they dragged their feet, another door opened and he joined the Funk Volume family. Over the years, he has been a XXL Freshman, a Roc Nation roster artist, and most recently has seen tremendous success as a fully independent artist. Still going strong - make sure to tap in with him to see what moves he makes next!

Don’t know you guys or this podcast but so happy to see you guys got Jarren on. He’s a legend.
Damn I miss the Funk Volume days it's such a shame Hop threw it all away over ego and immaturity. Jarren had crazy momentum going and it definitely slowed the hustle good to see he's still killing it.

Art is never finished, artists do get to a point of abandonment before we say: “it’s complete” and or “it’s finished

Actually it was over Damien Ritter's BLATANT and MULTIPLE conflicts of interest.

@@finchisneat Damien didn't burn it all down Hop did. Damien was wearing hats he maybe should not have but he was also asked to wear those hats he didn't sneak anything in in their contacts. To my understanding not a single artist feels like Damien owes them shit to this day.

I fuck with this interview the long way 🤘
I was one of the dudes he lied to about the upcoming project. Damnit jarren 😂
Snappin necks
This is why I hate when people like Ebro talk about how hip hop is dead, look at the definition of Radio Hit
If the guy on the left would quit interrupting and get out of the way, and trying to tell the story that Jarren is trying to say this would be great. Too many lame jokes while someone is trying to tell an actual interesting story.

Bruh. The guy in the left don’t even wanna finish Jarren. Kinda annoying to watch
Hopsin single handedly destroyed something special with his bipolar fits. R.i.p Funk Volume.
